  1. Kinda new to all this, but I’ll add what I’ve got. 185gr Berry’s Hollow Base Round Nose (for speedy reloads in the 625) 4.6gr Titegroup CCI Primers Mixed brass. Haven’t chronoed it, but it wouldn’t think it’s major power factor (use it for Steel). It is very accurate in the 625, the SIG P220, the Gold Cup and an old Springfield. Functions in the autos just fine.
  2. Thanks bberkley, already talking with Mike about getting started down there. Now this Crazy Croc thing. I’ve heard of it in passing, just read that it’s about 400 rounds. Similar to The Man of Steel? Any of you guys shoot in Albany?

Yes and the target trigger too. Since I am slowing down (not to imply I was ever fast), both of these fine revolvers may be headed south soon to someone that can make them win matches. I will use my 625 from here on out. Thank you. I meant to type trigger and somehow hammer showed up in the post. So, do the rest of you guys shooting 25s find the target TRIGGER too wide? I’ll get it right one of these days.
  4. Thanks for the insight and warm welcome guys. This sounds like a lot of fun. I’m in Salem, a member of the ARPC and shoot Steel there and at TCGC. I just got an e-mail back form Mike McCarter with some safety info and saying he has added me to his "New" list.
  5. That’s a lot of reloads. With a Glock that would only be like... two spare mags
  6. Hey gang. I’ve made a few posts in the revolver forum and they seem like a wonderful bunch, but I haven’t told them I like to shoot Glocks, SIGs and 1911s too. I’ve been shooting Speed Steel at some of the local ranges for a couple years now (use my revolvers mostly), but my only experience with IPSC/USPSA has been a couple benefit matches I’ve been to. Which, as I understand it, are kinda watered down for the non-competitive shooter... and the steel shooters. As winter comes on and things slow down a bit I’d like to take the safety course and check into a real USPSA match. I am a tad concerned about this whole power factor thing though. As I understand it, my 9mm Glock 34 in limited can only be considered minor power factor. Should this keep me up at night, or am I good to go? Thanks, Chris
  7. Yea, c'mon, all the other kids are doin it... Alright. So, you guys who shoot revolvers in USPSA, how many reloads (spare full moon clips) do you carry in a given stage?

Thanks for all the replies guys, I really appreciate it and think it’s great to see so many of these things still being used. Couple questions. Round Gun Shooter, bobbed hammers. Why? I’ve seen this on other revolvers, what’s gained by bobbing the hammer? Also, who did the front sight work on your 25? Carmony, how do these differ from a 625? I’ve shot 230gr LRN through my 625-2 and they’re terrific. For Speed Steel I prefer to use the little 185gr Berry’s Hollow Base RN in front of 4.6gr of Tite Group. Hey guys, thanks for all the replies. Any more pics? ETA: one other question. Do you guys who shoot the 25-2 in competition find the target hammer trigger to be too wide?
  9. +1 for Nelson Ford. I went to skool down there and had every revolver I own through his shop, first rate gunsmith. well... there's a new 3-inch 66 that needs to go down there.

I’ve had this wild hair for a while now to pick up a model 25 and do things the way they used to be done all those years ago (back in the 80s and 90s I suppose). Is there anyone else out there currently shooting a Smith & Wesson Model 25-? In competition?
  11. I agree. There is a local USPSA shooter who is extremely good in Open Class and this year went to revolver and is still wiping the floor with everyone else. A good shooter is a good shooter. I like the lack of technology too, just down and dirty, simple, six shots and that’s it. We’re talking about USPSA though, and I haven’t played that game yet. My forearms are a bit bigger than Jerry’s, maybe there’s hope.
  12. Hey guys, thanks for the warm welcome. And Jerry too. We shoot together, I’ve got to give him a hard time.
  13. Hi all, New to the forum and only been shooting Speed Steel for about two years now. Picked up a good holster on ePay and started shooting my 610 and 625 in Steel about a year ago. Looks like a terrific place ya’ll have here. -Chris
