  1. (503) 226-6800

Looks like the number for the main store on 911 Broadway...

    http://www.columbia.com/who/customer_service.aspx

    Portland Flagship Store

    911 SW Broadway

    Portland, OR 97205-3002

    Tel: (503) 226-6800

    Fax: (503) 226-6900

Looks like Flex is on top of things around here. My search foo must be weak.

All this informaiton is great...now I just need to know when they open their doors so I can call them in the morning B)

  2. I have searched all over Columbia Sportswear's web site for the business hours to their Flagship store in Portland.

I sent their Flagship store an email about the item I am wanting to order a couple of days ago. But I have been taught its best to call so that no confusion can arise.

But unfortunately there is no information on their web site telling what the hours is for their flagship store.

I am wondering if someone here has dealt with them in the past or resides in the Portland area and knows what their business hours are.

  3. I got my rebate mags yesterday, 3 weeks from the day I sent the paper work in. Unbelievable!!!!!

Did you do something special for them????

If so I want to know...

I sent in for mine in late July.. <_<

Got told that they were having trouble keeping up with demands, and were looking for some one to contract some of the production to.

But the couldn't find any one to handle the Hi-cap 40's. Unfortunately I fall in that catagory. <_<

  4. the new finish makes the springs feel a little smoother, I think.

Let em take a little set before you worry about the rattle, once in a while all my mags will do that.

The proofs in the pudding though, go shoot em and find out if they work.

then, sell them to me. ;)

I personally like the new finish they are using compared to what was used on the one's that came with the piece. It seems to be aimed more towards the LE market. (no reflective surface)

    Sell them to you???

I had to go through a cat fight to get these

  5. Would anyone here have a suggestion or two to throw in to the solution bucket?

I recieved my "rebate" magazines today and checking them over I loaded them to the max with dummy rounds.

When compared to the mags I received with my M&P, IMO the spring feels some what weaker, that the "original" magazines.

And when the mags are fully loaded the rounds in the lower portion of the magazine "rattle" round. As to where the "original" magazines don't do that.

And finally when down to the last five or six rounds the rim of the brass has a tendency to catch on the edge of the magazine as to where the originals don't.

NOTE: Selling them is not an option :D

  6. Would any one here know what the limitations are to the shot bar on the 900?

I have been debating on whether to try and load some up some rounds for pheasant season or just go buy them.

But as I was looking at my press this question come to mind. Since I am wanting to use both #4 and #6 copper plated shot.

I know when loading rounds for clays that have 1-1/8oz payload of #8, the shot bar is almost all the way open.

  7. Somewhere I read a story about a G21 that the lower assembly had been modified in some manor so that the grip wasn't so big. (One thing I don't care for with my G21)

Which by doing so the end results was a 45 cal Glock that is easier to handle for people with smaller hands. With the loss of only one round from the magazine.

Would some one here have ideas as to which story I am refering to? If so do you know if this was just a "lab" gun I was reading about? Or is there intentions of putting this gun in to production? B)

  8. As I was looking at a Xtrema2 the other day I couldn't help my self from noticing the difference in the recoil pad that they used on the Xtrema2.

So I asked Beretta about it. And they informed me about their GelTek Recoil Pads.

Has anyone here tried them on for say the 680's S series?

Beretta told me that the large pad would fit any of the 680 S's.

I am interested in POV's for say are they worth the $40 that they are going for on the streets?

Are they a pain to install? Any fitting? etc.

  9. These are some of the reasons why I quit buying my firearms at the various "box stores". Last time I attempted was for a Springfield M21.

First I had to beat the dead horse to a pulp just to get any one on the floor to move. Then after getting noticed they questioned whether they would be able to get it or not being uncertain if it was a LEO or not. Which that took a month.

After getting that red tape cleared away it took them another six months to get one ordered in, for what reasons.....I have no idea.

After they got the rifle in, they were wanting $1000 over the whole sale price of the rifle.

For what time and effort I wasted with them there are other dealers here that sell for %10 over the wholesale price. And took them less than a week to get the rifle to me.

  10. Has any one here ever tried to modify a 20ga conversion kit for a 900 so that it can accept/handle/load 3" shells?

I love my 900 that I currently use for 12ga loads for clays.

But would prefer to use a smaller gauge for upland game.

I would go get a midrange MEC for this application but I am currently starving for space.

  11. Where I work at they had these 4-8' fluorescent units hung over head at a height of less that a foot from from my head.

Two things I have noticed about these lights is you never hear the typical "humming" sound that comes from fluorescent lights. And for the ten years that they have been up there, not once have they had to replace a ballast.

I asked the electrician that installed them why they don't make that noise and his response was because they have "electronic ballasts" in them.

So I have searched high and low for these lights and every one ranging from Home Depot to your specialty lighting stores get that dumb look on their faces when I ask them if they can order me four of them.

Would some party here have any suggestions?

  12. Congrats on the new addtion to the family.

When I was a kid, my family raised many retrievers and brittany spaniels.

I got to participate in a National Field Trial when I was a teenager. My parents got really into dogs after I left the house for college. I think the dogs were easier to make behave.

Everything started very early with all our dogs, regardless if it was field, obiedence or show. The key was to make it fun especially when it came to field work.

My mom would have their collars on them at an early age--just a few months old.

When they were very young, the training session never lasted more than five minutes. They would have several training sessions during the course of the day. Training always occurred before playtime. Playtime was always after a training lesson.

Alot of the problems I run in to is my other dog being around. For example tonight, I took my brittany out in to the field just for the experiance, no training, what so ever. But the whole time my other dog was in sight he seemed more interested in her than he did in the atmosphere around him.

But as soon as she was out of sight, he become focused on searching for birds.

In fact he was able to come with in gun range of a quail but it flushed before he knew where it was. After it flushed he was able to find where it was bedded.

IMO my other dog is more birdy, at the moment than he is. And she wasn't even breed for hunting.

  13. I had extremely good results with my last hunting dog using the books by Richard Wolters, Gun Dog would suit your needs best. His books are step by step and it really worked, my lab was the best trained dog I have ever hunted over.

    +1

My lab was trained primarily for field/upland from Wolters. Nice when you can hand signal and whistle your dog to work back to you or find downed game. I started her at 7 weeks.

I have been trying to get him to respond to the whistle. Which I have been getting mixed results.

If I use a "dog whistle" he has no response to it even when I lavish him with treats. Though if I don't use a dog whistle, he respnds great. But after while my lips get dry and begin to crack.

  14. If there is anyone here familar or experianced with field training gun dogs. I would appreciate your input and support.

Recently I purchase a French Brittany from a Breeder near Mitchell, SD.

Before doing so I read four different books that covered the breed and three different books that covered training.

Along with that and any other loose information I have come across on the internet, and various video's that are available. Nothing really makes any sense at this point.

I asked the breeder the other day as to when is a acceptable time frame to begin exposing the pup to field training. Their response was no sooner than eight months though some wait until the pup is ten to twelve months.

Yet everything I have read in the books, was stated in weeks.

Something else I have noticed that is conflicting, and that is some books state to expose the pup to game i.e. pidgons, pheasants etc. when they are young to see how birdy they are, and how well they point prior to purchasing. While others state not to do that because it can give a pup the wrong idea.

The farthest I am with him is kennel training. Which was accomplished with in the first month.

Where do I go from here and who should I believe, because at this point I have lost all faith in the breeder.

PS if you know of a better site/forum to ask this please speak up.

  15. Pardon me if this question has been hacked to death.........

After recently purchasing a M&P 40. I have looked around locally and online for spare magazines, though it seems that everyone, everywhere is sold out.

Yet I can go to S&W's web site and order them at about 30% higher than the market price.

I talked with several retailers and they have stated that they are having a difficult time getting their supply.

Though they couldn't give me any answers as to why.

Would any one here have that answer?

  16. I have been searching the internet high and low for MGW's contact information. I get hits for every retailer that's selling their product and then some but nothing turns up directly related to the company.

Would any one here have their contact informaiton?

Lou moved to Augusta, GA. maybe 15 years ago. He currently works for Columbia County Sheriffs Dept, but his Wife and kids run MGW.

    706-793-1770

    4159 Old Savannah Rd

    Cool.

I have been wanting to get one of their sight tools to install sights on my Glock, though I asked the retailer if it would work with adjustable rear sights. They couldn't answer that question, and told me to call MGW. But couldn't provide me any contact information.
