  1. 1. Train grip strength but be careful to not overdue it. Tendonitis is something you can give yourself relatively easily if you're not careful.

    2. Grip strength comes mostly from the forearms, not the hands. Wont go too much into the anatomy of this but doing forearm work outs will increase your grip strength as well. Wrist flexion/ extension curls are good for this.

    3. Train your radial and ulnar deviation as well, an important part of recoil control is wrist locking which employs these muscles.

Basically to say dont just rely on crushers to work on grip strength. The other exercises mentioned above will work out the things I mentioned but I find it helpful to know why we do certain things. Someone posted a great forearm workout for shooting a while ago using a hammer to work on radial/ ulnar deviation- thats what I do.

It's the primer filler not the press. It loads a primer tube before I'm done loading so I never stop loading. I'd prefer not to waste a primer, but I prefer not filling tubes by hand more.

It also depends on the primers. CCI run amazingly through that thing. Right now I'm loading Federal and they kind of suck. I had to adjust it a lot, now it's running but getting the upside down primers here and there.

Ah I see. Regardless for the cost of that DAA pro thing I'd be expecting it to run better than that. I see the appeal of using an auto filler though- definitely messes with my flow.

I get maybe 1 upside down primer every 200 rounds right now. That's acceptable for the time saved.

I'm sorry this is not really relevant to the thread- but man 1 upside down primer every 200 rounds seems like way too often. I'm loading on a 750 so it has a different system, but in many thousands of rounds I have not gotten 1 upside down primer. Might want to take a look at that.

But to answer OP, the real reasoning I believe is that those automated presses are designed WITH automation in mind. They have redundancies, fail safes, and design aspects that make them optimal for automated loading.

  4. Shoot lim minor for a while. Learn the game, learn how to be safe, and dont impede yourself with the low magazine capacity of prod. You'll have a much better time at matches starting out if you dont have to worry too much about reloads and extra pouches/ mags. Look at what others are shooting, ask questions about other people's gear, and eventually you'll choose a division that best suits you, then buy that gear. You may decide neither limited or prod are right for you and switch to CO or something else- so dont fuss over it too much now.

  5. I think Nils is the exception not the rule here. He's shown you don't need major to win- but I'd be willing to bet if he did shoot major, he'd win by an even larger margin. Pure conjecture- but if minor truly was valid in limited, you'd probably have more high level people shooting it, especially with how unpopular .40 has become and continues to become.

  6. Guys, I dont mean to be rude here but there is 0 reason for this thread to exist/ be posting links to websites.

If you need primers, join the discord server. You will get daily *instantaneous* notifications when primers are in stock from all over the web. Download the app on your phone and get a message every time primers come in stock.

If you're paying more than 8-9 cents shipped per primer at this current point in time you are paying too much.

Trying to be helpful here. If you dont know how discord works or how to join, google "how to join reloading discord" for reddit threads explaining how it all works. 20 thousand people use this resource. It works.

Do some competitors get away with unsafe gun handling at local matches then get caught (DQed) doing the same unsafe stuff at major matches and whine about it? Absolutely.

As a local only guy going to his first major in a few months, what sort of things are you referring to here?

To modify the boss to fit I just used a dremel cutter to route out one of the semi circle areas and drilled a hole slightly bigger to accept M6 screws that go into the holster body. I’ll need to get slightly longer screws but that’s just a short stop at lowes or Home Depot.

I did the exact same thing, love it. I had to re-organize the adjustable bit of the ghost holster to make the gun sit low enough. Got it set up just right now, been through 2 matches with this set up without a hitch. I'll post some pics to this thread as well.

Have you tried backing off the jam nut on the die, then pressing a round up into it then tightening the jam nut, so the die is centered in the station.

Yes, first thing I tried :/

I have concluded that this is likely an issue with my bullets being slightly crooked while seating. I have the thing where the case is ever so slightly bulged on one side (or slightly more than the other side, if that makes sense. All of my rounds plunk so it has not been an issue until now with this weird scuffing. Currently trying to figure out a solution, I believe it to either be due to the seating plug in my seating die or a slight concentricity issue I have been having with my flair die (posted in another thread)

  10. Case feeder is essential as others have said.

If you're really price conscious, you can buy a 3d printer + all the components needed to make a case AND bullet feeder for less than the cost of the Dillon case feeder. I run a printed case and bullet feeder with 0 issues- cost about 100 bucks to make both since I already have a printer. Just food for thought.

PM me if you want extra details I dont want to hijack this thread

    What press are you running?

If the brass is able to be scuffed, it's not concentrically seating. This is usually a pointer that the diameter of your bullet and the depth to which you are seating, are not agreeing.

    THAT, or.....

You are starting bullets crooked and the seating stem is not correcting. I had this issue a while back, and a nice forum member here actually machined my round nose profile lee seating stem totally flat. It helped clean things up. I did have a Dillon seating die before but the plug would mark up my bullet due to the lube hole on the stem.

On the 550 powder measure, the alpha dropper was a pretty violent thing. I took it immediately off and got told by the nice folks at SSI / shooters connection to pound sand.

They never posted my review to their site, nor did shooters connection. Despite other 550 owners pointing out the issue.

Dillon 750, lee seating die lee taper crimp die. Loading to 1.130"

I love the alpha dropper so far, completely corrected my bullet tipping issue while running a feeder.

I had suspected this may be an issue with the seating stem, and am aware that lee will make a custom one off you send a bullet.

and the holster hanger itself isnt the best.

Yeah i’d heard that as well, ended up just ordering the body and printed my own hanger- worked well for a year but now using a boss hanger which is much more sturdy than the ghost.

Boss hanger requires some fitting for use with the ghost

I would guess that your crimp die is defective.

I’ll call in to Lee and see what’s up. I’ve had issues with concentricity of my flair as well, i’m starting to think they might be related. I have an alpha dropper flair die on the way, hoping that might solve some issues as well.

Gotcha, you just removed the seating stem. I use a RCBS die and get the same thing. I was thinking of the FCD with the adjustment for the crimp. Does that happen to be CBC brass that’s doing that?

Nope. Most of my brass is speer, but it’s happening with all my cases regardless of headstamp.

I might call Lee and see what’s up.

loading on a dillon 750 if that helps at all, i dont think theres an issue with my shellplate as i’ve loaded many thousands of rounds on this press without an issue

  15. 8 minutes ago, Farmer said:

I’ve had that happen too. Try indexing the die body a half a turn and also pull the crimping sleeve out to make sure there’s no crud on it that could push the loaded rounds to the side. Make sure the body’s clean also. If your getting a little bulge that can do it too, in that case I just shoot them.

I’d try that, but i’m using a taper crimp die (only a die body, no adjustment knob). Die is brand new and freshly cleaned.
