Personally I pick each die based on my needs and don't buy them all in one kit- I run a U die, Dillon expander die with an alpha dropper funnel, hornady seating die, and a lee FCD.
I would highly recommend the U die and the alpha dropper funnel especially if you're running a bullet feeder.

Can anyone comment on the likelihood of having to do fitting with a 9mm barrel in a 40 slide? I've heard some say they've needed to do fitting and others say the barrel drops in. I'm assuming luck of the draw.
For those who had to fit the barrel how difficult is it to learn/ screw up? Trying to decide if I should have a gunsmith do it or attempt to tackle it myself.

Irrelevant to the topic of this thread. Just echoing what many others have stated to OP already- may be a good idea to see how things shake out with the new proposed division before committing to any currently existing one

Disagree. I think LO will eventually be as popular if not more popular than CO in a few years if they don't merge the two divisions outright.
OP if you're looking to start a new division, I might hold off to see how LO turns out. High cap minor with 2011's and dots sounds like lots of fun.

I've had no issues but I dont shoot much in the rain- the days that I have didn't cause problems. Used mine nearly daily now for 2 years and haven't even replaced batteries yet. Did have to tape over the buzzer because it's very loud and high pitched for indoor dry fire compared to the CE timers

Brass monkey bullets are amazing. If you catch them on sale (13-15% off pretty regularly) you can get them as cheap as brazos for much higher quality. I'd probably be loading blue bullets if money wasn't an issue, but they're significantly more expensive.
Every person I know who has shot brass monkey raves about them- of the 4 or 5 bullet manufacturers I've tried they are the best by a significant margin.

Purely speculation but the popularity of 9 major these days compared to 38 super 30 years ago may be contributory. 9 major is just harder on guns, not to mention cheaper to reload. Cheaper = more people attempting it = more people being unsuccessful/ causing user induced problems.
All that to say, guns probably aren't less reliable but the ammo is harder on them.

Has anyone had success mounting a Romeo 3 Max or XL to a TSO slide? I am currently exploring options for LO- I've seen it done on shadows but not on the TS platform yet. Waiting to hear back from CZC for details but thought I'd give it a shot here too.

I try to touch the gun every day but it usually amounts to 4-5 dry fire sessions a week. Usually spaced out in 5-10 minute sessions a few times through the day in between study sessions. I shoot once a week for about 1.5 hours and 100-150 rounds. One match a month, 2 if I get lucky and have a weekend off from school to travel the 4 hour round trip to a nearby club.
I definitely am not making the progress that I'd like to see but I am on the cusp of making A class which is my current goal.

I wish that Dillon would update their powder measure. It gets the job done and it's accurate enough but the quality is honestly pretty poor in my opinion. Very loose and the failsafe rod system is pretty finicky for the price point of Dillon. It's the only thing on the press that I've ever had issues with and from what I understand the design has not been altered much in a few decades

I dont see major power factor as a "reward" for taming recoil (as I believe its original intention is) but rather as a separate game mechanic. Different game mechanics make the sport more diverse and interesting. Low cap was a very popular game mechanic for some time- many of the people still shooting production cite "needing to more carefully plan stages" etc as a reason they like the division.
Major allows for a different approach to stages, yes biasing speed over accuracy, but challenging shooters in a different way. Shooting major isn't "easier" than minor, because the people you are competing against will be pushing their speed, taking more risks- making "easy" shooting more difficult by the nature of how fast and creatively you can execute a stage plan.
It's a positive in my mind that there are different aiming schemas and approaches to the sport based off of what division you are shooting. Getting rid of major/ minor scoring takes away from the diversity of the divisions and in my opinion makes the sport more dull.

I think there is an appeal to spending 200 on a barrel instead of 700 on an entire slide. If I have to take the slide stop out it's not much more trouble to just swap the barrel while I'm at it.

I'm shooting a classifier match this weekend and these two are going to be there, is there any consensus on the best way to approach these stages yet? I think I'm going to plan for back two corners first then end up front for the strong/ weak hand shooting. I figure that way avoids a lean in addition to shooting one handed. Any insight would be appreciated

Lets be honest though, what percent of limited shooters right now are shooting major vs minor? And how many of those minor shooters would instantly switch to production if it allowed 141mm magazines? I'd say pretty much all of them.
So yes, it would kill limited participation but there is absolutely a market for a division that allows high cap minor iron guns to be competitive.

Agree here 100%. Plenty of people want to shoot irons in USPSA they just have literally no other choice for high cap minor division. Will it be as big as CO? No. But it will at least give people the option.

I load on a Dillon 750 with a bullet feeder and a case feeder. I'm my opinion the only reason to upgrade from a 550 is the bullet feeder and case feeder.
Scheels also offers free shipping which Dillon does not (at least when I got my 750)- in my research getting one from Scheels is the cheapest way to go.

People want to shoot high cap guns. People want to shoot 9mm guns. I see this rule change as a win for the division.
Now those people actually have a choice whether or not they want to shoot a dot or not- before their only option for the above was CO. Now Prod will be a viable choice and I believe some life will be breathed into the division.

Makes sense to me. CO is fine- but we didn't need another division. Those guys you're referring to would have been plenty happy shooting open and I think we're really kidding ourselves if we think adding this new division is going to somehow bring a significant influx of shooters to the sport

I think it's more about accessibility than anything. People like not "needing" to compete against multi thousand dollar guns, weather that need is perceived or actual.

Update, it looks like CZC and CGW offer this service. CZC will do it with a plate system but it's the thickest plate I've ever seen on a slide. CGW offers direct mount. I know this is an uncommon combination, but has anyone had this service done? Would love to see pics of the finished product if available.
