  1. Mike and I will try and make it. Sounds like a fun match, and that range is definitely worth a drive to seel
  2. Hey guys, For those of you that will be in town early enough on Friday, there is a really good pizza joint that is maybe a mile from our store. It's worth a visit if you're in town, and the beer is always cold. It's called Guido's, and Mr. Roger Davis can attest to the fact that it is some good pizza.
  3. Old style Tombstones. We don't have any of the new ones yet. Be careful doing your tractor acrobatics!
  4. Go ahead and make a break for it. It is easier to ask forgiveness than permission. Another option is to bring the wife with you...but that may not fly with her. Hopefully Mike and I will see you on the 3rd.
  5. Way to go Ima! P.S. They call them Wheel Guns because it rhymes so well with REAL Guns!
  6. We are easy to find Mark, but the address won't help too much (nobody can pronounce the street we are on, anyway). If you can find Hwy 412 on a map, that is all you need, because we are right on it. We are about 2 miles west of I-540 on the North side of the road (on your right as you head West). When we receive your registration form I will have Mike e-mail you a map. I don't think that Walter Mitty had any trouble finding the place last year, so that should give you some confidence. Our physical address is 750 E. Henri de Tonti Blvd, Tontitown, AR 72770. If you are using something like Mapquest.com and the address doesn't pull up, try puting the Springdale as the city instead of Tontitown, and 72764 as the zip.
  7. Mark, If you want to just come on to our store on that Friday when you get in town there will probably be some other shooters there (last year we were lucky to have several show up early and help set up). We can steer you toward room and booze from there. Let me know if you have any more questions. The hotels that I listed are just a few of several within about a block of one another, and they are all just about 2 miles down the road from our store.
  8. Walter Mitty, is anyone coming with you? Just to let eveyone know in advance, Mike and I are making t-shirts available for $15 for those that want them, just shoot me a message or write your size on your entry form. Also, if anyone has contact with Jerry Biggs and Curt Nichols, we wanted to make sure the word got out to them as well about the match to try and get them to come and play.
  9. Hotels near our store: Holiday Inn 479-751-8300 La Quinta (was Baymont last year) 479-751-2626 Sleep Inn 479-756-5800 Double Tree 479-751-7200 I will try and check in to a local bed and breakfast and poast later if it looks promising. There is an Applebee's within a mile of all of the hotels I listed (safer driving after "warm" beverages).
  10. You've got a deal. I will get some hotel information and post it later today.
  11. Walter Mitty, How about making the match more interesting? Nothing serious...how about a dollar a stage between me and you, and of course, bragging rights. I know better than to gamble with Bubber (I don't want to lose ALL seven dollars), and gambling with my husband (aka Dr. Evil) is definitely out of the question! How about an extra $5 if I win High Lady and you don't? Ok, so maybe you won't take me up on that last part.
  12. Can't promise that everyone who comes will win....but at least we'll feed you, and I can guarantee a good time. We couldn't be the Southern Regional because that match was already in existence. If anyone has questions, you can contact me through Brian Enos, or I think that there is a link to Mike's e-mail at the ICORE match page. Hope to see ya soon.
  13. Guys, Mike said to try Powder Valley. We have been having a difficult time keeping the primers we need in stock at the store as well, but he has had some luck ordering from them. Also, he said that he has used Federal 155 primers when not able to find the 150s.
  14. As a female shooting Smith 625 (N-Frame) I can tell you that for my hands it is the most comfortable. The L-frame that I own actually gives me a blood blister on my trigger finger where it pinches. The biggest key I have found for what limited success I have had shooting a revolver is attitude. My highschool band instructor told us attitude is everything, and I think she knew a thing or two. Jerry once told my husband (who also has tremendous gripping strength and Popeye for arms) that he doesn't want to hold a gun, but to dominate it. When I approach a stage or an entire match with that attitude, that I will totally dominate and control the gun, I have a far greater chance for success. I will never have the power that a strong man does in my arms, or even a small man (I hear that I'm not very big), but I have beaten men much bigger than I am. You need to find a comfortable grip that allows you to control everything that happens when you fire a shot. For me it is the N-frame, but that won't work for every hand out there.
  15. You can probably count on Mike and I to come. May would make it a nice warm up for the IRC.
  16. Of course, There's always the chance that the guy on the front cover could be a girl....just a thought.
  17. Hi Richie, My name is Stephanie and I got into handgun competition a few years ago. I am not exactly an imposing figure, so I understand the need for a gun that a beginner shooter, espicially a female one, can shoot and enjoy. The Smith model 686 is what I started out on, and is really tough to beat. My husband has recently become quite proficient on the little Smith model 67, though, which is a frame size down from the 686, and might be better suited to a woman with very small hands who still needs a 6 round gun. The biggest piece of advice I can give you is to get her some good instruction either from yourself or someone else (couples don't always work best for this) and start thigs out at a comfortable level. I shoot a 45 revolver now in competition and love it, but would not have been confident starting out on it. Keep us posted on how things go.
  18. Cliff definitely did some conquering on the stages this weekend. Hopalong seemed to be hopping a little slower by Sunday, but apparently had been moving quicky enough on Friday to give a pretty good showing on revo. Johnny Brister's stage 11 run was easily the most impressive one I saw last weekend, and it would have been a good race between him and Cliff had he been able to stay till Sunday. Walter Mitty was a pleasure as always, and didn't shoot too bad, either, as he didn't seem to have any trouble staynig ahead of me all weekend. Maybe if I practice I can edge him out in Feb. at the Midwest Regional ICORE match.
  19. I shot pretty good (for me) on a few stages, and overall had a really good time. I only hope it's not so cold next time. I think that I am improving, though, which is what I want to see....maybe some day I'll be able to run with you guys. I didn't realize how closely behind Cliff Mike was running either, but I knew he was shooting pretty well. I was glad to see him finish where he did since we have been shooting our production guns so much lately. The lack of practice didn't seem to hurt him much.
  20. It was good to see everybody this weekend. Mike and I had a good trip, and it was really nice to shoot with such good company.
  21. Knowing Bubber, I'm sure the two go hand in hand. Thanks for the update. BTW, I am sure that Mike will have plenty of moving targets and bowling pins at the match in Feb, so be forwarned.
  22. Bubber, are you out there? -Anybody heard from him in the last week or so?
  23. Mike does have a theme thought up, but everybody will have to come and see it. I think he has too much fun coming up with them, but Sat's IPSC match had some good stage names, esp. "Because Mike Hates Everybody." That one resulted in some long faces.
  24. The match is set for Feb. 3rd, you can double check this at the ICORE website to make sure. I already have a t-shirt design in mind that I drew up Friday while work was slow. Hopefully we will be able to have another fun and challenging match. I'll e-mail it to you, Walter, if you like. BTW, thanks for driving up for the match Sat, it was good to see you. I hope you are ready for a challenge in TN. Even if I can't provide it, I think Mike probably can. Revchuck, We are in Northwest Arkansas, about 15 minutes from Fayetteville. We are in a little town called Tontitown, which is a wonderful place to have a business...nice people and good Italian food. Oops, Meant to tell Walter Mitty I would e-mail him the t-shirt. Match isn't drawn up yet.
  25. Hey guys, Mike and I are hosting the Midwest Regional Revolver Championship again in early '07. Just wanted to get input from the shooters as to what you would or would not like to see, and maybe some tips on how to improve on last year. Hope everybody that shot with is back in March can make it back. -Stephanie
