  1. Got a new-to-me TSO in 40. Put the first rounds through it today, only had supervel RNFP on hand, 180gr. They're loaded to about 1.132 give or take. Had maybe about 7-10 rounds out of 100 get jammed on the feed ramp. A little pull back on the slide a couple mm and it would feed fine. Im wondering if perhaps the gun just didnt like the ammo? I intend on loading a recipe of sport pistol at 1.160, and I got home and prepped up about 12 dummy rounds at that OAL, with the blue bullets 180gr RNFP, and they all cycled through it just fine through every mag.

The shock buffer was pretty beat up when I pulled it out, I put a new one in there but Im not sure if the gun needs them, or if it could cause feeding issues to use? I have a few different recoil spring weights available, and I believe the 13lb is in there, but I do have a couple lighter and couple heavier.

3 mags of stock TSO .40 magazine, and 3 more mags with CZ custom base pads with grahams 13 coil spring and follower (or maybe its 14 not sure which they make). Seems like it did would get caught up in any of the mags randomly. Gun is generally clean and tightly fitting otherwise, its seen some good use before me but otherwise appears relatively tidy.

Could it be in need of a stronger extractor spring? I guess Im just spitballing to get a general conversation going, first time firing the gun today and wanted to go back to the range with a few ideas in my back pocket tomorrow or thurs.

Guess Ill have confirmation for sure if the gun doesnt like the blue bullets recipe and behaves the same way. Sometimes a gun is just picky and hates a certain profile/OAL i guess.

Another thought that I can confirm next range trip....I wonder if since this is my first time owning a gun with a thumb rest that maybe Im contacting the slide too much? It does seem a tad thin. Perhaps I could be putting the brakes on the slide?

What powder were you using?  Details, plz

Here is a snip from my loading log. I thought I had done more powders but apparently just hp38. Both made power factor without stretching it much at all, the powder did it nicely. With a longer barrel aka shadow 2/TS2 etc, 3.6 would definitely be the ticket I think, if good PF is your goal

And the real world results were damn close to the simulation in GRT. Dont mind the listing for bayou in there, I had to use that entry to modify for my blues projectile specs.

It was just as soft a shooter as 147s. I think the 135 is a great choice middle ground. Right around 70% case fill for both weights tested by the way.

  3. Im finding conflicting info, what is the stock width/height of the TSO front sight, and also the stock fiber thickness?

For simply changing the optic color, is it just smarter to leave the stock in place and drop in new fibers or is anything to be gained by putting an aftermarket one in. Who sells just the proper fiber without spending more on shipping? Its almost worth it just to buy the new front sight while Im at it.

Do they usually come with a new pin or can the pin be reused?

  4. I ran the 135 TC in .356 from blues. I found it to be a great middle ground and it was inclined to feel a bit more "147" but returned to battery quite nicely. Id load more if my p07 didnt lead so much with .356.

I know this post is older, but anyone try the open Ghost race holsters?  Like the newer barrel supported One or Evo?

I'd like a secure lock up without play, so the DAA Alpha X seems out based on what I've read here, don't want binding, definitely don't want to drop the gun like some other brands I've read about, but nobody seems to have mentioned Ghost.

This is for a new style TSO and there are limited options but want the best that's currently available.

What did you settle on? I have a DAA race holster and was thinking of getting the insert, since i currently use it with my revolver. guess ill be looking at GX or RHTs offerings

    OP-

If you're loading .40 for a CZ, you're going to need to load shorter than 1.16.  I load .40 for TSOs and 2011s.  The 2011s can take 1.16 (perhaps a bit more) but my CZs cannot.

I've used N320 a bit also for .40 and 180gr bullets.  Between 4.3 and 4.5 is what I use. Both will make major, just depends on how much cushion you want.

This chamber has been reamed so I believe the previous owner has taken it out to 1.18 even. I figured 1.16 is a good baseline for the long loads. I dont have it in-hand yet but I will confirm as soon as I do.

  7. Hello all,

Doing some research before I start cranking out some 40 cal loads which is a new-to-me caliber. Ive done thousands upon thousands of 9mm/38/45 to this point. Mix of coated and FMJ.

I bought 180 and 200gr blues to test. And Im trying to find my way through published data as well as spot checking viability with GRT.

    On the topic of n320...
-No data for coated 200gr out there. They have TMJ in n340 and beyond, but nothing n320 for 200gr. Judging by GRT, which is highly accurate for n320, and a bullet profile I have played around with in their library, Im thinking a coal of 1.130 and charge weights of somewhere in 3.9-4.2gr range would be feasible. Would like someones real world data to confirm or deny this though before I get to experimenting.
--for the 180gr, it shows 3.5 thru 4.1gr of n320 for a "Fiocchi, LTC". is that lead truncated cone? But when I try to model anything close to that in GRT it has it way low velocity so I may just not be picking the right bullet in the library.

On the topic of alliant sport pistol, one of my favorites:

    image.png.8bbfcbf92b5b379e21f2dbafc18446d4.png
1.10 coal, with a max charge of 3.6. I could probably extend this out a bit and  experiment but it seems fine to me. Does seem that youd have to push pretty much to max at that OAL to get a consistent power factor cushion.

However they throw out a very long OAL for the 180gr. 1.160?? Assuming that is due to people loading long for 2011s? The chamber here is reamed so I suppose I could go that long, but havent fiddled with the magazines a ton to know if theyll get fussy that long (this is a CZ tso)

Ill be loading on a 550, and using a lee u-die station 1, dillon powder drop/expand station 2, station lee a lee seat/crimp but i dont allow it to apply crimp, just use it for seating, and station 4 is a dillon taper crimp. Thanks everyone

In normal times, maybe.  In times of shortages?

This is the 3rd serious primer shortage I've seen in my 50 years of shooting.  During the first one, back around 2006/7/8?, I found 3 Fed Match SPP's that had deformed cups or deformed/missing anvils from the box.  I'd had a couple of misfires the previous few hundred rounds and started inspecting the primers before loading them into primer tubes.  Found the 3 from within a certain flat.  Now I do it religously and found another during the last drought.

This is the longest drought I've ever seen though!  I've not seen any issues with the Fed's I have now.

BUT the new RP Primers won't work at all with any kind of 9mm crimped primer pocket, I've tried swaging multiple times even.  Seems the cup is just slightly larger.

The new CCI's over fill my Dillon Primer Storage Tubes at 96 too?  Seems they have the anvils set just a shade higher, they also take a different setting on the 1050 to get seated as deep as the Fed's.  They both work once loaded.

Another note, I've been told by some Industry guys that most Case Manufacturers are going to switch their 45 ACP & 10MM Cases to Small Pistol Primers!!!

hmm thats odd. I have dillon primer tubes made many years ago and never had an overfill issue. probably can hold 105.

  9. My wheelgun gets a steady diet of gold medal gm100s, but I do have some regular fed 100s, just haven't used them in a lightened trigger scenario.

Just curious, is there any difference in what we know and love for that "low strike force" federal primer ignition, between the two types? Or are they both about the same in force to set them off?

The closest ICORE is the one up in Philly, until they did that one in Hampton Roads. I was going to start an ICORe shoot at Fairfax Rod and Gun, but decided they’re wouldn’t be much interest. I shoot revolver in idpa and uspsa.

Yea go figure. Ive shot revolver at one uspsa match, my first actually haha. But Ive decided that revolver is my steel challenge gun, but Im pursuing my CZ in production and/or limited for my uspsa journey. I want to be in the mix of things, rather than just a fringe novelty haha. Although, Ill never abandon my revolver roots entirely and keep it up for steel matches and maybe the odd one or two USPSA matches here and there, on sunday squadding or something after shooting my main gun.

  11. Hey folks. Looking for a better holster to replace my basic kydex. I use a S&w r8 for my steel setup (n frame).

I can't really decide between the DAA alpha x and the cr speed wsm2. Anyone have experience with these in a revolver context?

It would appear that even if I go with the DAA for the revolver, I would still have future functionality to change the insert and use for a limited gun (when I expand into that class  eventually)

I would also probably have to get the DAA muzzle support kit for revolvers I assume.
