For many reasons, don't do it. If you really want to go 9 Major, get a 9 barrel and have it fitted to the comp and slide.
OAL for a 38 SC is 1.230 (give or take) OAL for 9 major is 1.170 and the cases are different.
-
The 223 shellplate will ensure you only get supercomp brass. The other shell plates will allow 38 super brass to cycle also.
-
I run a full size 9 major with CCG custom comp and 115 with HS6. Folks say the gun "sparks" a little, but I never notice it.
-
Loaded out to 1.170 and never had any problem with STI TRUbor barrels. Unless you have old style SVI mags that allow longer OAL as mags with spacers limit your OAL. (Had several new Open guns and replacement Trubor barrels.
Try it before you waste your money and time.

2nd this. Work it up the same as VV320Ramshot Competition
3rd Ramshot Comp
How does Ramshot comp meter? compared to 320, wst, solo.
Accurate, meters well, and is a lot cheaper than 320.

AFTEC 38/9 will run 38 Super Comp or 9 major right out of the box. No tuning necessary.

Several months before "8 shot minor" was just talk, I got a 627 PC setup for open (with c-more) and extras for a $1000 Had a Ti cylinder setup for 9mm and acquired a bunch of moon clips. I'm ready for Feb 2014.
Doubt I could find that kind of deal now.

While it may seem silly to DQ the guy (cylinder open, pinky finger behind the trigger), it shows a lack of control by the shooter. At some point the cylinder has to close with live ammo and the next time his finger could be on the trigger.
I would have to say that is one "eagle eyed" RO.
I have DQ'd several folks for "finger in the trigger guard". If your watching the gun (as we are suppose to), it happens all the time. I will say it is mostly new shooters. I rarely see it with experienced USPSA competitiors. At our local matches and Monday night league, we hammer the importance of keeping your finger out of the trigger guard unless your pointing at and shooting at a target.

IMO, the primers are fine. I've been loading 9 grns of HS6 and 115 for years.
-
Loading 6.1 of HS 6. Quite accurate. Loading manual indicates about 136 PF. Have not a chance to chrono yet. Hits on paper are clean. Chamber is free of copper.

When I shoot indoors I save the brass and reload it several times. Any match outdoors, it stays on the ground.

You measure the OAL. The OAL for using STI mags in 9 Major should be 1.165. You get minor variances in OAL with different headstamp brass.
That barrel will run 1.165 with issue.
so you're saying I"m loading too short and I should go longer? did you measure round by round in the bbl when you loaded?
A little late on this post. Yes you were loading tooooo short.
When using STI mags with spacers, the OAL should be 1.165 to 1.170. Because the press is not a precise instrument OAL size will vary depending on brass headstamp. There is a maximum OAL length on the STI mags with spacers. If you load some rounds with no powder or primer, you can experiment and determine the MAX over all length that will fit in the mag AND chamber. However; you can not emulate a 2011 firing and loading the next catridge no matter how fast you rack the slide.
You may have to adjust your OAL a thousandths sometimes. Example. A friend of mine gets a custom open gun and every 3rd of 4th round he was getting a FTF (Nosedive). His OAL was 1.168 on most of his rounds. He was using 121 IFP. The 121 IFP has a profile like a JHP, but the hollow point is filled in with lead. So you now have a flat point. I noticed each of the rounds that failed to feed had a horse-U shaped mark in the nose in the lead. He reduced his OAL to 1.166 and the problem was no more.
If someone states "OAL for 9 major is 1.185" they are probably using SVI mags, no spacers, and round nose bullets.
I never tumbled loaded rounds, but I do take a rag and wipe each round. JHP can get media stuck in the nose and that media comes loose and dislodges in your gun at the worst time.

Read CocoBolo's post. You will get leading in the barrel. Titegroup has nitro and burns hot! Titegroup is great for complete metal jacket.
You got more smoke because you are burning off the coating and melting the lead.
-
Your initial crimp is to tight. Your breaking the plating. I have Xtreme 124 JHP plated and they crimp with no problem and are very accurate in my 9MM.
You just want to take the bell out and test for pushback.

I don't think you can get a 124 to 1650 with 9 grains out of a shorty.
Well I just did. Actually you probably know the gun and the previous owner Sarge, it's Larry (aka full race or something like that).
The cases were pretty full with 9grs indeed but I did weight the bullets, 124 it is.
Anyway, I"ll reduce and chrono again. I don't think the chrono is an issue because I chronod another load for my other gun and it was normal.
IF your going to use my name in this forum, GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT! I specifically told you 115 JHP and 9 grns of HS6.
You are lucky you did not blow that gun or yourself up. I also you told you could ask me any questions about loads.
-
Does the safety engage real easy? How small are your hands. Might be your gripping the gun wrong.
Post a pick of your gun and grip.
-
Use your barrel, not the case gauge. If they drop in and out of the barrel, they are good to go..
While that works, it may still mask an issue with your reloads.
-
More information needed. What decapping die are you using? Check bell of case, to much can bulge the case at he botttom. What bullet? OAL?
-
thanks everyone, I got it out. Now another question . Do I really need to use loctite for the new mount?
Short answer, yes.
You do not need red loctite. The blue works IF, you clean the screws, clean the holes, and let the gun sit for a day after setting the screws. Mine hold for thousands of rounds. Easy to remove if needed.

Depends. If the competitor is reshooting the classifier in the same division, it doesn't cost ANYTHING extra; ezwinscore simply picks the best of the two runs to upload. If the competitor reshoots in a different division, then it's another $3.
Thanks. Nice to know information.
-
It all helps. But I had stats make all the entries before it dawned on me that we may not owe the full $3 per shooter if not all shot the classifier. So now I have the USPSA bill to pay for the full amount. Granted, it's only a few bucks but it's not really my money so I need to make sure I only spend what is needed. I guess I'll wait and see what USPSA has to say and post it here so we can maybe all learn something.
The answer to this question is yes, the match is charged $1.50 for each competitor in the match for the classifier, whether or not a given competitor actually shot the stage.
I created a test match (included here) and defined a stage and also added a classifier. I registered two competitors. One competitor shot both stages, the other one did not fire the classifier (DNF). Calculate results and look at the activity report, the USPSA Activity Fee total is $6.00.
Here's the match file for you to play around with yourselves. Does not matter if you clean up lose ends and mark the guy as DNF or just don't enter anything for him. (I prefer cleaning up lose ends.) The results are the same.
Club charges X dollars for a classifier reshoot. Are you charged $1.50 or $3 by USPSA.?
-
No reshoot, no foul on your part. You did not interfere with his COF. Hard to stop a natural instinct to save someone from falling. Could have been a lot worse if he fell.

Mine is very close. Will never be the same as a 1911. I do believe the XDM has the best legal Production (aftermarket) trigger of the plastic guns.
