Same for my optic on a mount fixed to the frame of my open gun. I clean carefully by hand to avoid any chemical go onto the RD body or lens.

As with many things in practical shooting, this is very personal and an individual choice.
IMO the most import parameter is to pick the position for the holster that enables your hand to grab the grip in the most natural and efficient manner possible.

I switched my C-More RTS2's for the Sig R3XL several months ago on my 3 open major guns. The C-More's were certainly not bad, but the Sig's have a larger window and crisper dot. To date no issues whatsoever with the Sig dots.
