  1. Thanks for the replies.  There no academy's in VA unfortunately and none with any in stock near my relatives where I could go in and see if they could ship out of state to an ffl.  I guess ill keep my eye on the various for sale forums and see what pops up.  Im in no rush.

is it as simple as a drop in barrel or would there be breech face issues?  What about the 40 magazine in that larger frame?  Any issues with the shorter bullet length?

  2. It looks like these are dropping like flies from the common manufacturers.  Springfield doesnt have any, the Sig Max is discontinued and not really showing up on Gunbroker, and Dan Wesson also has dropped the .40 full size to my knowledge.  What manufacturers have offerings out there in the 1000 range if anything at all is still being produced?

  3. Im running the springfield supplied 9 round 9mm metalform in single stack with round nose bullets and no issues.  I also have one dawson 10 rounder that someone gave me that also works flawlessly in my Springfield Range Officer.

  4. I just started earlier this year as well.  watch your videos, find flaws, make a training plan, and when training, focus on one or two specific things.  I have been improving quickly.  Key thing I need to remind myself is to slow down when shooting and haul ass when moving.  my mechanics need a lot of work as does multi tasking like moving and shooting, moving and reloading, moving backwards and drawing.  stoegers book and mini dry fire targets are worth every penny.  jumping rope and sprints have helped to relearn how to be lighter on my feet. Despite all of what I wrote, my two priorities remain being safe and having fun.

Years ago (~10?) when the D-Leads came out a group of us at a Tuesday night practice range compared them with Clorox handwipes (baby wipes).
We (including a sheriff’s forensic expert) concluded they were basically the same.
In my case I started religiously using the cheaper handwipes after shooting and picking up brass, as well as wearing the cheapest nitrile gloves while reloading. My lead levels went from ~30 to less than 20 in about 5 years.

was this the lead in your blood or did you measure it another way?  I use these wipes and soaps/scrubs religiously but the wipes seem to dry out before I use them up.

  6. Thanks everyone.  Another agent brought his legion to the range today and it fit my hand like a glove and the shot well so I will be getting one.  I dusted off my 229 and ran a practice qual with it and shooting the DA/SA felt foreign to me and a hell of a lot heavier than I remembered (despite carrying one for 12 years).  I have a match tomorrow so maybe someone can let me handle a shadow just to kill any doubt going this route as no stores locally stock them.

  7. So, I want to get into USPSA production ASAP but want to purchase a gun to get me started for the next few years.  I currently own a P229 and a Beretta 92 but dont want to shoot either aside from the first few matches, and would like a different full size gun to use.  Recently, I shot a CZ Shadow2 and fell in love with it but the da/sa trigger concerns me for one reason.  Currently, my issued gun is a 320 X compact and which I carry daily.  Ive put about 5000 rounds through it since last year and am very comfortable with the striker trigger.  As a result, I was considering purchasing the 320 Legion X5 based on having a similar trigger vs my finger going back from DA/SA to SIG Striker.  What are your thoughts on carrying one style, training on that for work, and then having a different style trigger for a match gun?  Any help from anyone especially someone in a similar situation of carrying one gun but shooting another with a different style trigger is greatly appreciated.

    thanks
