Was I getting the right from your video, that you simply lifted the striker itself up towards the cap while trying to pull it off?

    ....that's a shameful yes.

I actually used two pairs of pliers. One to clamp the striker and hold it and the other to pry the plate off!

Redneck engineering. Although the slide racker works perfectly now so I guess no harm

I just found your YouTube channel ... Watched the video of you installing that racker on the m&p ... I think you missed a step that caused you to have problems getting that plate off! When you look into that little bit of striker channel from under the slide you can see a little bit of that white plastic from the assembly. Grab a small Allen key and press that down towards the muzzle of the gun. That unlocks the back plate

Wow..had I known that In the beginning maybe it would have been easier on me!

Saw a video of a fellow shooter running his today for the first time at Carolina 3 gun. He said it ran great and shoots slugs like a laser.

I almost went to that match today but instead opted to do a 2 gun match with friends because my VR isnt quite ready, still waiting on my 29 rd mags and a few 19 rd mags

Go watch the video Derya posted on YouTube for disassembly/reassembly. Wipe out all old lube, give a light coat to the bolt/carrier, a drop down the rails/slots the carrier rides in within the upper. The gas system is run dry

Do you have a link to this video? I'm having issues finding it

I took mine to the range today and shot 300 rds of 1300 fps ammo. Works flawlessly!

Aside from Advanced, Immortal Arms is/will be carrying stuff. Not sure what he might have in stock right now - prob just 9rd mags

How could there only be two distributors for this stuff?

  8. 18 hours ago, IntenseImage said:

The tube isn't the problem. If the stock needs that divot in the lower to lock into to prevent rotation, then you may have a problem as the divot in the VR80 lower isn't like an AR. I'll get pics in a few for ya

is there anywhere else that sells the extended mags or compensators for the vr80

advanced is out and no sign of a restock anytime soon

hard to imagine only one distributor could exist

Not sure bar and chain oil you are using , but all the stuff I have used is generally thick and stringy , real tacky stuff.

I'm not sure what oil you are using. The stuff I get comes in a green bottle and is so thin it's like water. I've been using it for about 10 years on all my pistols and I've never had any issues

Figured I'd make a post to see what rifle everyone brings to war(competition) with them. Let see what everyone's hard money has earned them. Mine features a tactical cat which makes me shoot faster.  Maybe we could get a pic and a list of parts I'll start

    Sjc titan comp

    Faxon 16 in lightweight barrel

    O2 lite handguard

    Superlative arms adjustable gas block

    Mid length gas tub

    Aero stripped upper

    Anderson lower

    Luth ar stock

JP lmos buffer and tuned spring

    Calvin elite trigger

    Strike industries charging handle

    Phase 5 extended bolt release

Odin works gen 3 extended mag release

    Brownells lightweight bcg

vortex PST gen 2 1-6 scope

total weight on mine is 7 lbs 9 ozs

Also sorry about the link, all my pics seem to be bigger than the upload max

Terrible, 9lbs.  I bent the legs on the trigger return spring and very lightly polished the sear face of the trigger...... pull dropped to 6lbs. I’ll replace it as soon as something better is available.

Stock trigger is garbage. I noticed on mine if I break the shot and then continue to add pressure it moves the safety.... it's getting replaced soon too but I have other more important upgrades like a compensator to add first. As far as I'm concerned it's an open shotgun, which means the trigger doesnt matter too terribly. It's not an ar where you want the trigger smooth. I mean this thing was literally created to lob 12 gauge rounds of destruction downrange, I can accept that the trigger is a little sloppy.

So a standard AR rifle length tube for a fixed stock threaded on to the lower and has had no issues with using a standard rifle length buffer spring?

Sorry, not trying to overly complicate the process but just want to be absolutely sure. I have a Luth MBA3 in my cart right now but I would strongly prefer the fixed MBA1. I had been told previously that a rifle length tube wouldn't work on this application.

I bought a rifle length buffer spring, tube and buffer off brownells and it fit perfectly

  13. Just now, IntenseImage said:

What do you mean no springs ... Like the buffer retainer spring? I mean there is a buffer and spring in the tube that you need to compress while threading the new tube on, so kinda different from an AR

Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

the safety spring that is held down by the retention plates in ARS is located under the buffer tube and plate

so in an AR if you unscrew the buffer tube be ready for a tiny spring to come jumping out at you from under the retention plate

Ive been asked before about mags dropping free, so here is my take on the situation ... And a modification should you choose:

    * I believe that due to the design (the lever on the follower that engages the bolt catch), (unmodified) mags will never drop free if the bolt is locked back.

    * If the bolt is closed the offending part is no longer in play so the mag will drop free.

For some, drop free isn't a concern, for others who will be using their VR80 in competition, it may ... So what are your options ...

    * Leave the mags alone so they drop if the bolt is closed or require manual removal if locked back. In competition this means knowing your round count if you want the mag to drop, or acknowledge that you will loose time taking the extra step to pull it before going for your reload

    * Modify the mag so it never locks back, even when empty so the mags drop free every time. In competition this means once again knowing round count so you reload prior to running dry. If you choose to run dry then know you need to incorporate a bolt rack into the reload and if you put the bolt handle on the weak side of the gun its a quick and simple thing to do. This also increases your chance of not realizing you went dry and getting a lovely click with no bang. Risk vs Reward ...

So ... If you want this "drop free all the time" capability what do you do ...

    * Disassemble the mag and look at the bottom of the follower ... You will see a little tab on the bolt locking piece.

    * Depress this tab while sliding the bolt locking piece out from the mag body - a spring will come out as well

    * Reassemble0decbad5de3397f975d90222f0d2c79b.jpg

although i guess if the bolt locks back it wouldnt be terrible to move your arm back to clear the mag

basically like an ak except in shotgun plateform

i think this would only be an issue if you had mag problems.  as long as you are just mowing down like 15 targets on a stage theres no reason the first mag wouldnt be enough
