  1. The traditions kits are far from accurate and of fairly low quality.

Chambers makes excellent kits but they are pretty intensive. The best kits out there for a first build are made by Jim Kibler.

If executed well they result in an heirloom quality rifle. I shoot the .40 I built monthly in my blackpowder clubs matches and it performs as good as it looks.

  2. What was the ejection pattern like? My brass lands about 6 feet away and slightly aft. At some point I did some loads at 3.2 grains to see if they would function and they just dribbled out. But they did work.

I wonder if it could be a chamber tolerance difference maybe. My PCC definitely seems to have a looser hole than my TSO, as the cases from the PCC have a fair amount of carbon blowback whereas the CZ produces very clean cases.

maybe 2.9 grs TG just isn't allowing enough seal to form to let that fairly light load work well.

  3. I am using the same load for my PCC and CZ TSO without any issues. I am using 3.6 gr Sport Pistol, which is nearly as fast burning as your TG, with 124 plated bullets at 1.10 OAL. Rifle is mostly NFA parts with a taccom buffer system. I don't think having one load work in both platforms is too out of reach and its worth a little tweaking to get there.

All that said, I don't see how the speed of your powder burn is the issue if some of them shoot fine and some are squibbish. Seems like something else going on...

3.7 oz weight difference.  For me it wasn't worth the extra $300-$400.  My competition guns aren't all that light anyway.

For real. I grabbed the eurooptics deal a couple weeks ago. Worrying about less than 4 ounces on a 10 lb rifle that I carry for literally 30 seconds at a time...nope.

  5. I'm also using the brownells 8 oz bcg in nickel boron. Its not as light as many out there, but it was $110 and it has functioned perfectly for 2000 rounds or so. I'm running it off superlative arms block, rifle length 18" odin works barrel. Buffer is an empty carbine unit with a rifle spring. I don't know how much lighter shooting a 6 ounce buffer could be in a 10lb rifle, but I know how much lighter my wallet would be.

  6. I shot 2 rounds of 5 stand a few weeks ago with my 24" 1301 with +6 tube, wallered out port, and stage saver. I did pretty well except on the rabbits, and the 2 other dudes there wanted to look at my gun. Sure was fun, though it would have been more fun to be able to put in more than 2 shells in at a time. I also have a rotating electric skeet thrower on my porch that throws out over my pasture. Nothing like loading in 11 rounds and having the wife keep em coming!

This video points out that the plastic is probably a better choice overall.

I believe adjusting the over travel as fine as he demos in the video will cause sear/hammer interference and cause damage. You need to back off the over travel screw until you can't feel any interference while moving the hammer down and back with the trigger held back.
