  1. I don't have the answer but i do have a story.

I have and SVI with a Schuemann Ultimatch barrel. Not sure of the exact round count but around 6k throug it. i noticed some copper build up so i decided to clean it just before a major match. I chronoed one last time before the match and i was in the low 160s. Load was 4.7 TG 180 JHP Zero loaded short. Alway shot in the upper 170s. My son's STI and my back up STI always shoot the same load 2 pf higher.

I shoot the match w/ my SV, never was chronoed. I then chronoed the same load w/ my SV and STI's after the match and i was back up in the 170's. Not sure what it was. We chronoed other loads and guns both times and nothing seemed out of the norm.

i'm not sure but it may have something to do with Schuemann's cleaning or non cleaning recommendations. it sure seems like the dirty or seasonedarrel chonoed faster for me.

  2. We ran a chrono today on vv 320 working up a load. Shooting 2 STI Edges,, my sons and mine, both guns were hitting the same numbers. That is nice so we only need one load for the both of us.

    mixed brass but mostly R-P

    WSP primers

    VV 320

    Precision 185 black bullets .40

    OAL 1.145

    4.5 grains = 175 pf

    4.6 grains = 178 pf

A freind was shooting a STI Tactical working up loads with Universal Clays. He was hitting high 170 pf at 4.9 grains universal everything else the same as my loads. He loaded them on my press. I don't know how his gun shoots compared to ours, fast, slow or about same.

Of course, your milage may vary.

  3. You can also pull the case loading ram back and place a case into the slot so that the spring cannot return it. At this point the casefeeder is completely disabled and you can easily enable and disable it by removing and replacing the case.

    I'm learing the 1050 too.

i get the idea but i need a picutre. I'm not sure how to do that.

I have been holding it by hand thinking of how i could make a small bracket to clip on the back black box that hold the spring with a hook on the side to grab the bolt/guide on the right side to hold it open for me.

  4. I was thinking the same i just didn't want to say anything to not anchor anyone. Load .45 on 550 and buy a 650 for 9mm and .40.

The 550 is not fast enough for me to load 2 or 3K at one loading so i wind up loading 1k one night then a week later antoher caliber. It is not that difficult to change calibers i just really like the idea of just filling the hoppers and start cranking until i'm content. (about 1 hour).

I can fiddle with something or clean my guns over and over but something about standing there just cranking out round s bores me so RPH is important.

  5. I bought a 550 setup from BE about a year ago. It has been great...huge improvement over my old set up. I should have bought the 650. Well...i have been thinking about it again. Challenge is I don't know if i should go with a 1050, 650 or (2) 650s. We load 9mm .40 most and some .45 i have the brass and bullets to load .223 but have not done that in over 10 years. Might get back into the .223 loading.

I need your help and opinions, we all look at things different and that info is what I need to help me make my final selection before i purchase, from BE of course.

If I want to go the least expensive route it is pretty simple to me, go with (1) 650. I also think, no just go for the 1050 and forget about it. The challenge is, unless I’m missing something, I can own (2) 650s w/ case feeders (i have the dies) for about the same as (1) 1050 with a conversion quick change.

What would you choose? Is 2 650's more versatile or handy that 1 1050?

  6. I appreciate all the comments. I was expecting to hear that. One has to assume they put a maximum wattage sticker on there for a reason. Problem is we all don't assume that is for a good reason and obey it like we should.

She bought a lamp and put in the corner of the room. It seems to work fine for adding the extra light.

it doesn't bother me much but I think i could live in a cave as long as i had, cable for tv and internet and a fridge.

  7. 1 week review.

My wife has not had any side affects. Perfect vision since the op. My left eye has been perfect my right seems to blur every now and then. If I look around, blink and look back it will be in focus.

Today we had our 1 week post op. Doc said we both have 20/15. The blurry vision is due to dry eyes he said. Even if I don't feel dry put drops in and it should go away. Funny thing was I noticed that last night after drops everything was crystal clear with no in and out of focus. I will keep them good and wet from now on. He also said astigmatisms heals slower therefore it is not un usual to experience what i am. I still have some swelling in the eyes which is normal at 1 week.

All and all, I'm very happy.

On another note, I watched the whole thing happen and could not believe it. Amazing that they can pull that off.

It still Freaks me out thinking about it.

Thanks for the blow by blow expierence. I have astigmatism is both eyes. Did this proceedure correct that for you? The only red dot that has a round dot for me is the Holosight type sights. Everything else I get different shapes from both eyes. Drives me a little nuts but with 20/20 or 20/25 vision not sure this is a justifyable expense. The astigmatism correction would be nice.

I don't have very much experience with a Red Dot at all. I have a very small red dot on my AR but have not really shot it much but my experience was a lot of double dots or hallo dots with my glasses. I have not looked through it yet without glasses. I’m sure it will halo until my eyes heal a little more.

The lasik did fix my Astigmatism. My dominant right eye had it the worst.

i suggest go in for a free consultation. Just be prepared to drop some Benjamin’s after you leave if you are a candidate. It hard to resist even though it is

Oh man. I like saving money as much as the next guy but I don't know about this.

  8. we both had our 1 day post op aptmnt. 20/20 for both of us. No complications or truoubles at all.

Only thing we are experiencing for now that we are told will diminish but to what extent is unknown until then is the starburst and/or halos from lights.

Best money I have ever spent!

  9. Update 1/4/07 8pm

Very pleasant professional experience. We arrived early 7:50am. First thing we noticed was the waiting room of about 30 chairs were all lined up facing the large wall of glass. Looking through the glass I see all the machines and two patient flat beds/chairs. My first thought is oh Sh!t everyone is going to be watching. Oh well what is there to worry about.

They do all the eye tests again. Third time now since I selected this Doc. They Numb my eyes, mark them for my astigmatism, prep me (booties, hat, etc), meet the doc, he looks at my eyes. Q&A time with doc if you have any. His bed side or room manners were outstanding. Professional, caring, confident, patient, honest and even a sense of appreciation of your trust in him. I pop my 2 valium and then relax for a few.

Nurses popped in and out every few seconds. Holly cow how many people work here. Then just a couple minutes later they said “are you ready”.

Took me in laid me down on the patient table / bed. I looked at my watch 9:00 am. They numbed my eyes again and inserted a suction cup that guides or seats the laser that cuts the cornea flap. It some how puts air bubbles under your cornea where it cuts. I don’t know exactly how it works but it was painless. There was lots of pressure downward on my eye and socket form the laser machine setting itself into the section cup on my eye. No pain just pressure.

They helped me up and guided me over to the next table. You can’t see very well at this point everything is blurry because of the bubbles behind your cornea. They laid me down. Added more numbing drops. Inserted the tool to hold my eye lid open and told me to focus on the green light, pulled my cornea flap back, everyting went totally blurred, lowered the beam and I heard a slight ringing noise and smelled burning eye ball. Several times on and off. He folded the flap back down and said can you see better now? HOLLY COW, Instantly I could see the light much more clear than before. He then smoothed the flap back out and repeated on my left eye.

Stood up in a half daze. Not sure if I should open my eyes, blink, walk, can I see, 10 million questions and emotions running through my mind. I asked can I open my eyes. “sure, can you see alright” I could see fine. Walked into the next room. Sat down and looked at my watch 9:07 am. Wow 7 minutes later...

Doc came looked into my eyes again. They put clear eye shields on me and said that is it. I went out and watched them finish my wife and then we left about 10 minutes later.

Eyes burned a little on the way home if I had them open. If I kept them closed I was fine. We both went to bed work up about 3 or 4 hours later. Slight gritty feel. Added the drops regimen and numbing drops. Fixed quick lunch, sat down and watched a movie.

Son came home and we all went out to eat dinner. It is great. I can see, she can see, no pain. So far this has been and incredible experience.

I can’t believe how quick, painless and easy all of this has been. My vision so far is just increditable. I believe my wife is experiencing the same results.

The girls at the desk that gave us our post op kits with all the drops, glasses and instructions asked if we were nervous when we arrived before surgery. I said, Heck Yea. She said cost is the worst thing about this. If you can handle that there is nothing to worry about.

I will find out tomorrow am what my vision is. It can change more over the next few months too.

  10. All right we pulled the trigger. The wife and I both set our appointments for Lasik for Thur AM. We decided on local doc, Dr. Mann at the “Mann Eye institute and Laser Center”. He has the latest greatest 5th generation Allegretto Wave machine.

Of course they could have sold me the latest greatest ”muffler bearing” had they said i needed it and it was better.

It is difficult when it come to your eye sight. We only have one pair and the minute they start selling on the best this and that the emotions kick in. You think this is no time to compromise for a few dollars I’ll take it.

I told my wife we are both very confident he is the doc of choice and we feel he offers the level of service we desire. Let’s quit talking to docs and get it booked before it gets more complicated by another opinion.

Appreciate the comments and help. I’ll keep you all posted.

    :blink::blink:

  11. Okay on the primer slide (using small primers right now), the thing is sticking at the pickup point and throwing the primer just about anywhere when it decices to pop loose.

I'm not sure if this is the same as I was experiencing, it sounds the same or similar. My primer slide would stick or stop just beore the primer pick up. Nothing blocking it either. I thought about shortening the spring or bending the rod that it rolls on but I thought something else is up. I disassembled the primer feed system. I found that aluminum piece or rails that the bolts go into from the bottom of the press to hold it all up was bulging in the rail area in the same spot the bolt threads in causing a bulge in the rail so the slide would drag on it because it was slightly narrower. I used a dremel to sand it down then polished it all up and it works fine now.

I don’t know if I over tightened the bolts causing the aluminum to bulge or if it has been that way since new and is now catching since coating is wearing off the primer slides.

  12. bp78 Thansk for the comments. I do appreciate everyones input. I have another meeting on Mon. with another doc. I will then make up my mind as to who and blad or blade free. I think I'm going to run into a challenge with the doc i like only does blade.

  13. No UT. How would I find out who those docs are?

I’m talking with 2 of the well known docs. One does the blade free and the other uses the blade. That is about the only difference I can tell, they both used FDA approved machines, etc, etc.

I have to admit I’m very skeptical / nervous about working on my eyes or SCARED may be the operative word here. I suppose I’m looking for some encouragement too.

I have read many of the old posts. I don’t see where anyone talks about their preference of blade or blade free for the cornea flap cut. This is really the only thing that I need some feed back on. If you paid extra for the blade free was it worth the extra and why in your honest opinion.

For and extra $350 they will use a Laser to cut the cornea flap.

Cool.. that was the only thing that went close to 'wrong' with mine, I swear I could feel it cut, maybe the anesthetic didn't work all the way? It did cut a few really small veins/capillaries but the redness cleared in a day or so.

There was some guy that got sued for reusing the blades, that was pretty strange, I made a point to watch mine come out of the package.. it was about 2 weeks after that story broke..

you must have typed faster that me. I did not see your post.

I have read that a few people have experienced a little pain with the blade. Many of them seem to think that same... they needed more numbing drops.

  14. I have similar needs and issues. I had the Razor for a while. Sound quality was my biggest issue along with crappy screen.

I bought a Samsung SGH-C417. Not as customizable but it is nice. It has the needed features for me but not all the bells and whistles. Thin battery life is great. Screen is clear the numbers on the screen when dialing and driving are HUGE.

Time on the outside, light goes off but touch the side button and its back on.

My son has the LG 500. nice phone just not as slim and compact as I like but it seems to be a good phone from what I can tell when I have used it.
