I'm aware. I do want another of the .357s, since I'm set on mounting a dot and porting my .357 once my second 9mm comes in, but I don't think I want it $2500 bad. :P

If you want to get that kind of money for it, you should probably move it soon, though. I've heard direct from some Ruger sources that fresh supply is coming over the winter.

I am just kidding on selling as I used to have 2 of the original 6 1-2” 627’s and one looks like this. The other one I let go for $2500 and wish I never had. But Lady Luck shined upon me and I found another and I didn’t pay $2500 I only paid $1000. So money ahead and I wasn’t even looking when I ran across it  There were only 300 made and I know for sure there is only 299 left . But if someone was to offer $2500 it would be gone ✌🏻🇺🇸😁3E534FE9-C758-48F8-BD40-6C2281CE4F6D.jpeg.8b4a7b26d1c489b2f007a9984583c5f3.jpeg

I still haven’t met anyone who has paid 1400 for a 929. Or anywhere close to that for a Ruger.

Now I could almost understand not knowing better and someone making an impulse buy at a shop for that, but not online.

If I can get $2500 for my Ruger Super GP100 it would be gone like pecan ( old Texas saying)✌🏻🇺🇸😁

You guys think the 929 is being sold at inflated prices?

Look at some of the used Pythons.  I don't think I saw one under $2K.

    No way.

    GG

Look at the last 2 Ruger Super GP100 that have sold on Gun Broker 1 went for $1950 and the other for $2427. Almost makes me want to sell mine. 😁

That’s about right from what I’m seeing. Crazy scarce so folks are asking above MSRP for a used one.

Look at the one in the classifieds all of it for $1700. Sell yours as fast as you can for $1400.

Ha. Already got an offer for $1,400

i am mostly just annoyed it wont shoot factory ammo as  i wanted to shoot it at a few matches on the few days off I have until spring.  My work/travel schedule will not find me behind a reloading press until march. Had i bought a 627, i could be shooting my old IDPA ammo  (or even factory white box) now.

Ya know I was just yanking your chain 😂😂😂. Best of luck on the sale

Thank you. Gun is already up for sale.

I will give you $750 and I will even pay shipping. With a revolver that shoots so terrible I will help you out and relieve you of your burden and make sure no one else gets this terrible revolver. I hope you let the buyer know before hand how this revolver does not shoot well and only patterns like a shotgun. I feel that you were misled when you purchased the revolver thinking that the barrel was .355, all cylinders throats reamed to same size, forcing cone reamed and cut and crown cut perfectly.
But before you sell to me I would try some of the suggestions put forward here such as jacketed .355 bullets, .358 bullets or making sure cap is not interfering with the exit of the bullet. If not my offer stands. Just a revolver guy trying to help out.

  7. Actually your barrel is .357 so shooting .355 bullets will never get the accuracy you are wanting. The .358 bullets are proven to work. Me I don’t have a 929 but I do have a custom 627 with a custom .356 barrel and I strictly shoot .358’s it will group under 2” at 50 yds. Also ammunition that shoots good in one gun will not necessarily shoot good in another gun of the same caliber. Especially if you are shooting one in an auto and then try it in a revolver.

I was at a SASS Match (Bordertown)  I dealer had LOTS of Federal Primers Large/Small/Match/Magnum with prices of $110 to 130 per 1000.

He sold a lot but did not sell out with 300-400 shooters in attendance.  No Hazmat or shipping fees.

So there is resistance at some pricing lever.

I thought you guys use flintlock and

    black powder. Just kidding 😂😂😂

  9. Said this before and will say it again. 627 will shoot 38 Short Colt, 38 Long Colt, 38 Special and 357 Magnum and the 929 can shoot 9mm. You can always buy a 627 and have it reamed for 9mm and not have to worry about brass. 38 Short Colt is just a straight walled 9mm

  10. What are you looking to do? If you are just changing hammers either one is great and with some polishing and spring changes you can accomplish a great trigger. If you want it all in one drop in package. Try the new  revupaction.com from tool guy here on the forum. Total drop in action job and it is what they claim.

    There's always next year!

Probably won't want to read my Revo Article in Front Sight either, titled: The King is Dead, Hail to the King!

    🤣 😂 🤣

Maybe sub-titled: Maybe the report of the King's demise is premature?

Or will the "Young Guns" show up and seize the Crown?

Bring your revolver to the 2023 Free State and bet your own chips!

I plan on being there next year other commitments kept me away this year.

I have a work conflict (which I am hoping will clear, but it might be last-minute) but Sam is signed up for the match.  I need to get some ammo and moonclips to him--is anybody coming through from the east on I-80 who could cart some ammo out there?

If not, could I ship some ammo this week to someone who can get it to Sam at the range on the morning of the match?  Drop me a PM.

    Please and thank you!

I can see the difference between a question and argument bait.  I'm not interested in an argument.

No argument just a simple question. As GG explained how he sights in a 8 min dot and that technique sounds good. Just looking to see how others do it to compare and see if other ways would work for me. Like the old saying goes “I am never to old to learn” Sorry if you feel like I am looking for an argument. Have a great 4th.

The same way I used to sight in my target rifles with aperture sights.  You somehow seem unable to understand that one does not need a target to span the same diameter as the dot at a certain distance.  Keeping round things of different sizes concentric achieves the same thing and is easier for the eyes to detect alignment.

Oh I understand but I guess you cannot understand a simple question. So I will lay it out to you in simple terms. What distance do you use and what aiming point do you use to sight in and I am talking for a red dot on a revolver as this is a revolver forum. Don't get me wrong as I also have rifles with apertures sights and have shot them in DCM matches that now called CMP and I know how to sight them in. Again incase you don't understand the question "how do you sight in an 8min red dot on a revolver"?

Thanks for you response and answer GG.

You all have a great 4th in this great country.

How do you sight in anything?

For my 2min dot I put 1/2” dots at 25 yards and off sand bags and pistol rest I adjust until every round hits dot. I then blacked out 2” X-ring on tombstone target at 50 yards and verified that all rounds would stay inside 2” X-ring.
For my 6min dot I would start at 25 yards with a 1 1/2” dot on target and follow same procedure as above.

So simple question again how do you sight in your 8 min dot?

You don't need an small aiming reference to hit a small target.  Put the 8 MOA dot in the center of the tombstone and you'll hit the center of the tombstone without seeing it.

It's how shooters like me were able to hit 1 MOA X rings and 2 MOA 10 rings with an AR-15A2 Service Rifle's 6 -8 MOA wide front sight post.

How do you sight it in?

  17. Back in the day when standards were shot a 2 min dot was needed to shoot the x-ring at 50 yards. Since it has been put aside because to many people complained about it you probably only need a 6 min dot.

  18. Why not just buy Toolguy’s Rev Up Action and be done with this or send it to a real gunsmith such as TK Custom, Pinnacle Custom or some of the others who are mentioned on this forum.
Nice thing about having expert’s work on your gun it is usually guaranteed to work. Also try going back to factory firing pin.

We figured out how kinetic energy transfers from one object to another over 200 years ago.  Your guess as to how it works isn't needed

So just a simple question. If 140 lb running back that is say 2 times faster than the 230 lb linemen hits this lineman while the lineman is standing still he will knock him over. Then the 230 lineman running at half the speed hits the 140 running back that is standing still. Then according to your logic the results will be the same. 🤔 I have learned through out life that even though it states it in books and that is supposedly gospel, that is not how it works in the real world sometimes. Just my 2 cents.
