  1. Now that I have two almost complete guns, I decided to send the Elftmann trigger back to Elftmann.

Its occasional non reset is a pain.

    Hopefully they fix it.

I got the Holosun 510c in the mail today, and put it on using the laser to sight it in, with no shots fired.

I plan on moving the Vortex Razor to my S&W 15-22,and the Burris FF III that's on it, to the new back-up 9mm

  2. Just got the 510c today, and it's on the gun.

     I like it!

much less distortion from my astigmatism than compared to my Vortex Razor.

The nice part about having your laser zeroed at the exact same distance, is you dont need to fire a single shot to install and zero the new optic.

Just point it down the hall and overlap the two, and you are done!

How many of you are not running the hood to save the weight?

The hood and 4 screws are 1.2 oz. I think I will run it for now

Yes I'm going to look into the Syntech.  The Blazer I've found to be gentler than several other factory 115's like WWB or Federal, or UMC.  There is a cheap Federal White Box 'Range Target Practice' that shoots pretty mildly but it is very smokey and I like that the Blazer is a completely plated bullet (including the base) that leaves less lead buildup, and its velocity if listed relatively low (around 1125).  I like the blazer in my handguns and shoot it well, so it makes it easy when I get it in bulk locally.  But if the Syntech really does shoot softer and doesn't feel sluggish, then I'll definitely pick up a bunch for matches solely for the PCC.  Little more money, but averaging only 150 rds or so per match with way fewer PCC matches than pistol ones, it's doable.

As far as stroke-length, I consider my setup (wave spring + single washer/quarter + .308 Carbine spring + RB5005 Blitz buffer) as essentially a 'mid-stroke', as it gets back just far enough past the bolt catch and holds open after last round....something that comes in handy in my state with 10-rd magazine limits in some settings.  So I realize that aside from not reloading that may also preclude me from getting some of the performance/cycling benefits that are often discussed here.

I run a lot of 115g blazer brass.

I consider it the ammo that my gun is set up for.

It's the lightest shooting, readily available, factory ammo I have found, not to mention, it's some of the least expensive.

The syntech stuff is softer shooting, but it's more expensive and can be hard to get at times.

So I have built both of mine on blazer.

I think I should wait to see if I ever get the actual optic first.

    LOL

Watching tracking numbers is always good fun.

Especially when you order something from a drop shipper that you know nothing about!

    LOL

It's finally on it's way though.

I probably wouldn't have ordered it from MVO if weren't for the few of you earlier in this thread that had done it successfully.

I'm running a 1" riser, seems to put the sight right where I need it to break the first shot quickly.

You have the 510c on top of a 1" riser?

That seems like it would be very high.

I think I use a 1/2" riser for my Burris FF 3, and a Rex riser with the extra plate with my Vortex Razor.

I need to go measure mine now.

Has anyone with trigger reset problems and a Blitzkrieg buffer solved the problem with hotter ammo?

In practice, not a single problem with trigger resets.  But in a recent match, I had lots of problems. Turned my AR9 into a lever action gun.

My thoughts are that in practice I'm holding the gun tight into my shoulder but in the heat of a match stage, I trying to get by with a looser grip.

I'm running the RB5007 with a JP .308 carbine spring and 134 PF ammo.  I've loaded up some ~138 PF rounds to play with.  Maybe that will solve the problem.

Does it need just a tiny bit more travel?

I would say buy once, cry once.  Unless you're looking for something more compact or a larger moa main dot. It's a very good optic that's super quick to line up, but kind of bulky if you're looking to save as many ounces as you can.

I have a few guns that need optics right now.

Plus I am pretty happy with the Vortex Razor I am currently using.

So I can justify a $150 H403 or Sparc type sight for one of the other guns.

Otherwise I am soending $100 more and getting the H510c and then shuffling stuff around.

It's tough choice because I just have too many different gun builds half done.

I just picked up a 510c from Shooters Connection for $256

    How was the shipping?

Because I have seen that price there, and want one for my primary gun.

But I am also thinking I should spend 100 less buying something cheaper, and put it on my back-up gun, and use the 100 to pay for the Blitzkrieg.

I run Elftmann in all of my match rifles, but like you, I had some problems with their first try at 9mm specific triggers.  I would have a dead trigger from time to time.  I think it was when I was holding the trigger back after firing and it would fail to reset reliably and end of up with a dead trigger.  Their customer service was top notch and replaced it with their "Gen 2" and the replacement they sent me has been flawless.   I can't wait to install their new Rem 700 trigger on my PRS rifle...it felt amazing at shot show.

I get this every once in a while.

    On a rare occasion...nothing.

    Rack the slide, and bang.

The CMC 9mm PCC trigger is great. I replaced an Efltmann PCC trigger with this. I run CMC is every AR I have because they run flawlessly.

I had so many problems with my Elftmann like failure to reset, hang ups. Elftmann sent me a brand new one and I through it on eBay because I didn't want to run the chance of dealing with it it again. It felt great when it worked but it cost me time during matches.

There is a lot to be said for not having a potential problem looming in the back of your mind, or worse yet, actually screwing around with stuff on the clock.

  11. I just went back through this whole thing.

I need another optic, but I still dont know what I want to do.

I am definitely leaning towards putting a Holosun 510c, on my main gun, then shuffling all my other optic around.

But on the other hand, I am considering just buying a cheaper one and slap it directly on the new back-up gun, and leaving everything else alone.

I am pretty happy with the Vortex Razor I am running now.

Circling back here with what I've found to resolve my astigmatism mismatch with traditional red dot sites.  As I knew would be the case, the EOTech EXPS 2 would be an improvement for me over the red dots, which I validated.  I just mounted a different EXPS 2 with Green reticle and it's hugely different, enough so that I consider it the resolution for me.  The green reticle is more crisp without any flaring, blooming, etc.  Thanks again to the guys that chimed in with your experiences, it went a long way to help up and running with my PCC.

    MB

So you are saying the green color works better with the astigmatism?

  13. I dont typically even think about my trigger hand, I spend all my time thinking about my support hand, and what's it doing.

That being said, I am probably the last guy to be given out an shooting advice, it's just how I do it.
