  1. I just did this drill for the first time yesterday, really exposed some issues. I switched from  Production  to CO and I didn't  realize 1/2 the time when I transition I'm staring at the dot and trying to move it to the next target instead of snapping my eyes to the target and bringing the dot up to it.

kind of humbling  :( Got this week off , hopefully the weather will cooperate and I can run this dril a few days in a row.

I'm surprised I'm shooting steel challenge as well as I am , this should get me up to another level.

  2. Nice!! I had CZC do mine and I recently switched my slide back to the stock one and I was a little surprised at how much softer shooting my stock slide felt on there.

Lightening it up definitely added a little kick to the recoil that I had not really noticed until going back to the heavier slide.

My milled slide is totally tuned for my reloads now though and I can't imagine ever going back to shooting production

I've gotten so used to using an optic that I'm thinking about having my carry EDC M&P 9C 1.0 milled so I can throw on a Shield mini sight 4MOA that I have

    sitting around.

  3. I have one of the Performance Center 9L's that came with the optic and it was a shield Mini sight. I have an 8Moa version of it on there now and use it for steel challenge.

I just recently bought a 9C 1.0 and was going to have it milled for an optic but I may check out one of these new shields instead.

I had no Idea these were in the works

  4. I went back and forth on this for a while and realized the 2 fits my hand a little better, so I got a second slide from Stuart and had the CZC shop mill it and lighten it.

Now I stick with the same gun and swap slides depending on what mood I'm in.

My buddy has a Target II and is on the fence about doing the same thing with his.

  5. not sure exactly, funny I just checked the boxes of both of my Venoms (a 3MOA and a 6MOA), the 6moa box does have the little GLOCK MOS baggie in it , the 3 does not.

Yes  3.5 sounds correct,  we can ask Stuart at CZC , I'm sure he knows

  6. Yes I had to get specific screws to mount my venom onto the plate from the CZC shop. Stock bolts were too short.

I'll have to check under the Styrofoam to see if I even have that Glock MOS packet

FYI I also needed a shim to get the back of the optic to come up a bit, I  out of elevation adjustment. with the shim on this now it's dead on at 35 feet.

isn't it great though now that it's on there.I love mine 6MOA target acquisition is so quick. I have had to do only very minor re-zero even after shooting 3000 rounds with it on there. It's holds zero quite well  :)

  7. I got a 2nd slide and had CZC mill it and lighten ti. I also have the Venom 6MOA on mine, I love it, so effortless to shoot.

I ended up removing the FO from my front sight as it was distracting me. I only use the CO slide for competition and I found that I'm much faster without a front sight on there.

good luck with it and Enjoy the hell out of it :)

  8. + 1 on getting a 2nd slide from Stuart (thank you) I had CZC do the milling and lightening on mine and it's considerably lighter than my stock S2 upper

I didn't really notice it that much until I decided to swap the stock slide back on last weekend. I have my OC slide tuned to work with my competition ammo though so

I don't feel any additional "kick" ....unless I use off the shelf ammo, then I can feel the difference.

I love being able to go back and forth between OC and Production while using the same lower.

  9. Id on't know about the P10C but with a shadow 2 I have been able to get a co witness easily with the shield RMS and the Vortex Venom. but I sue my S2 for competition so i actually removed the fiber Optic from my front sight. It was distracting and I find that I'm much faster without it.

I did not change my front sight. I had CZC mill my slide so I am assuming it will be similar to the millind done on the P10C.

the shield mini sights sit very low (I have an 8moa  on my M&P performance center 9L)

  10. I would go with the 2.0

I have a 1.0 Performance Center 9L which is supposed to be the cream of the crop

and I still dropped in a KKM barrel (non ported) and the Apex FSS kit. Now with the 8moa shield mini sight on it

it's a fast tack driver. I wish it had more frame weight to it like the 2.0's do , at this point that's my only complaint about it.

it's become my USPSA CO back up to my CZ shadow 2, but I still use it for steel matches, it's too much fun to shoot

    to not use it.

  11. being in mass , my shield came with a god awful trigger. I had my gunsmith do a trigger job on it with stock parts (no apex) and he got the pull down to a nice crisp 6# pull.

out to about 10 -15 yards I'm good with it, outside of that it gets a little tougher, being it's a sub compact.

I found the 9C a lot easier to shoot accurately. It's basically just a double stack version of the shield, but it doesn't conceal

as easily so I stuck with the shield.

  12. great post, I just finished using my S@ in it's first season of USPSA and steel challenge matches.

Had very few "incidents", a couple of jam ups early on but we got the bullet length issue squared away.

I use a performance Center M&P 9L as my back up..............haven't had to pull it out yet :)

I'm guessing I've put 4 thousand rounds through it so far. I have a stock slide and a milled slide for CO

I only use the CO slide now as shooting Production no longer appeals to me at all.

Does anyone know of a shop on the east(ish) side of the country that does it?  I contacted a couple of local "gunsmiths" and neither of them do it and one of them didn't even know what I was talking about.

Also, is this the right tool?  Brownells only seems to have this Clymer in stock.

    did you try Greg Derr?

  14. lawman 147 shoots a bit softer than the American Eagle 147 so I used to shoot that all the time for 147

for 124 the S&B 124 shoots very accurately and is reliable.  It's a bit hotter than most 124 but I got used to it and shot it

    quite well.

I reload now so I try to only shoot my own 147 rounds during competition.

For plinking on the range I still shoot Blazer,S&B AE, lawman, Aguila. As long as it goes bang I'm not too picky :)

Why would you use a 9L if you have a Shadow 2 ?

my Performance Center 9L with the apex FSS kit in it rocks.

It's my back up gun and for pure speed (like Steel challenge) it's actually a faster gun than the S2, the trigger on it

is ridiculously good and it fits my hand like a glove. 8MOA Jpoint/Shield mini RMR on there rounds out the package.

    I shoot it really well.

My S2 is an awesome gun and I absolutely love it,  but it's not the be all end all of competition guns.

  16. what is the stock weight of the M&P 9L recoil spring?

I May grab the  tungsten guide rod with it as I'd like a little more weight .

I'm using 147g at 3.1 PF loads. With My SZ shadow 2 I've gone to an 11# recoil spring and it shoots really flat now :)

I'd like to get as close to that as possible with my 9L.

  17. So 5 months later and thousands of rounds down range my reloading/shooting compadre have settled on Ibejihead 147s

CCI primers W21 at 3.4 grams I'm not sure of the OAL but we have probably shot between us 6 thousand rounds of these Ibejiheads and

have had little to zero issues with them.  A light strike occasionally but that's it. Accurate, great recoil at this PF (right at 131) and no jamming

    issues.

I'd love to get my hands on some Federal primers but they seem to keep eluding us :(

I'm shooting fast, I'm moving slow, I broke a 180 pretty badly a few matches ago, so the transitions from target to target are slow, once I get there, I'm firing as fast as I

can  without shooting wildly. Mag changes slowed down as well.  You really shouldn't make jugements on the internet without knowing what's really happening.

It's all good, I'll be ready to go next season.

    "

Why not all alphas?  If you're going slow, what's stopping you from putting them all in the a zone?

I'm not trying to be a jerk, I too have to remind myself to aim for the a zone, if you're just pointing at brown and mashing the trigger it makes it really hard to score well.

When you're focused on speed, it's easy to neglect accuracy.  If you've never aced a stage, I highly recommend it every once in a while, what have you got to lose?  It's a great confidence builder and a reminder that it's possible, even easy.  Wishing and wondering really slow you down, that's what calling shots is all about.

    "

  19. this was my first season and I am shooting on average between 76-80% alphas , but I am getting killed on time. Way to slow

going to do a lot of drive firing and work on reloads etc. I DQ'd twice early this year so the last 2 matches I shot I purposely went slower

than I normally would to just make it through the match, but my confidence is coming back up so I am working on speed again.

I have found that I am a much faster shooter in steel matches than I am in USPSA. I tend to alternate weekends

shooting one then another monthly and my steel times have been dropping consistently, where my USPSA scores have not been improving

at anywhere near the same level.   :(
