Have you tried Forest Lake Sportsmen Club or St Cloud Area Practical Shooters Association! Both are great Clubs and worth a look.

Do you shoot at different clubs? If not try others. Also ask around maybe a local GM willing to help.

I have C-more slide rides on my open guns and like them. Something I do not see mentioned is you can get a 90degree mount for the C-more lowering height over bore significantly and fixes the ejection issue.
-
I would try your XC loads! You will probably have to change the spring I run an 8lb in mine. Light 115gn loads super fun to shoot and great for SC.

I'm guilty of the last! I close the cylinder pull back the hammer a bit and spin the cylinder. Reason being I'm checking for a high primer. Now its been some time since I've found one, but now its habit that I don't plan to change it, just call it part of my sequence to make ready.

Looks like a pretty sweet deal, congrats on a great pistol.

For any future reference,
Found that with 8mm screws, they would leave a thread or two unused in the frame, so I bought a pack of 10mm instead and trimmed down the front two to 9.04mm so that it would just clear the slide, and the back screw to 9.10mm. I cleaned everything with tap/die and brake cleaner and used VC-3 and there is an improvement as I shot about 400 rounds last weekend and it stayed tight. Can't really say if its going to hold for good yet but it would usually loosen up well before 150 rounds before.
It this doesn't work, I'll be doing pins as @JWBaldree has done.
Were you able to solve your problem?

Looks like it is perfectly fine to do so(6.2.3). I might give this a go as well. We only have 1 or 2 matches a month around here so would be a good way to get some reps in.
Sure would be a lot of moon clips to load and haul for an 8 stage match.
Also its very rare I see somebody shoot only 1 gun and several people I shoot with have enough magazines loaded for the whole match.

check the Vitivori reloading data center. Light bullets usually require more powder.

Dryfiring this with a revo is crazy. The ability to pick up the hammer drops is awesome. Gives a lot of drive when you know to the hundreth's of a second that you are indeed speeding up.
Agreed its pretty nice to be able to see first shot, split and end times. AMG is a great tool.
Ive had my timer for a few years now and think it is worth the wait time.

Before I ran my CM in Open, I ran it in LO. Not wanting to mill the slide, I just used rear dovetail plate for an SRO. Gave me the ability to attach a racker there too.
How did you mount the slide racker? Picture please.

Staging and pull-through are two different techniques and are used in different scenarios.
For most shooting, pull-through is the "correct way." Not because staging is inherently incorrect, but because pull-through is both faster and more universal. However, for bullseye shooting or when you need very high accuracy, staging is the way to go. In staging you stop at the wall and execute a trigger *press* instead of the traditional dynamic *pull*, which is the usual high precision technique.
As for starting the trigger pull before the gun is on target, that's not staging. That's how you're supposed to work a long DA trigger, e.g., when shooting a revolver. The pull starts before the gun is ready and is synchronized with the gun getting on target. If you get to the wall only to pull the trigger fast through the wall, you should be using pull-through instead and not introduce the unnecessary and complicating delays of the staging. If you just feel like prepping the trigger before it's on target, just do the pull-through and learn to have the patience to wait until the shot fires.
With DA triggers, the trick is not the front-end speed, where the gun gets on target, the trick is the back-end speed, where you wait for the shot to fire before moving on. If you're used to the cues such as "it's on target, fire now" as a way to call a shot, you'll have to correct it and simply say "it's on target, keep it there until it fires." Pulling a DA shot is rarely about the sights or the movement of the gun through the pull, it's almost always calling the shoot too soon and starting to move the gun out before it fired.
I think this is very well said, and I appreciate the info.
I have shot Revolver in steel challenge for a few years now. Earlier this year I decided to just stop shooting revolver for awhile, I was getting worse instead of better. I was trying way to hard. Anyway reading this has helped me understand part of what was happening with my shooting. Thanks IVC.

I have Hornady LNL's for metallic reloading and have been very happy with them. Customer service has always been excellent. I also have a Dillon SL 900 shot shell re loader which has also been excellent and customer service is again outstanding.
Wish I could make your choice easy. For me it was what was available locally at the time. I don't think you can go wrong either way.
Others will be along soon to help.

Thanks - they make a free-standing stand base so not to have to pound into the ground. I was wondering how the "T" post hold up to getting shot and any ricochet issues?
They take it pretty good. I think at least as good as a 2x4.

Does anyone have a set that uses the steel "T" post - do the work?
I have a set, and they do work! If you have soft ground they are pretty easy to setup.
I finally just bought a 2x4 setup as the range I go to is hard and rocky. Pounding the posts in got to be to much work.

Congrats on the new pres, please keep us informed on your progress.

Maybe check for a used JP GMR, great guns that just run.

I know that pain. On my old single stack 38 Super race gun, I decided to take off the old 30mm Aimpoint 5000 frame mount and do a slide mount dot. All the light steel challenge loads I had would not run. Thought it might be interesting to run but with 5k rounds loaded, I went back to the old trusted set up.
At lunch I am going to go see if my 3.6gr HP38 and 115gr blue bullets work in the 9mm race gun. I have some 125gr blue bullets and at 3.6gr HP38, would that be a better load?
I made up some 9mm 115 gr SNS coated rounds for my 11 yr old grandson to shoot from my Sig 320 X5. He had a lot of fun, but with his grip I will need to go to a lighter recoil spring. He had a few fail to eject.
I will say they were a lot of fun to shoot and accurate enough for steel challenge.

Thanks for sharing, that was very interesting.
M&P 15-22 Trigger Question
in Steel Challenge
Posted · Edited by old558
I just recently put a CMC 2.5 in my 15-22 and I do like it. That being said I don't feel like I'm any faster.
What I did notice is that with the CMC trigger I am getting less light strikes with my practice ammo. I had no light strikes with the CMC trigger.
