    Gray vs. Burke?

I wanted to give a quick update. I ended up sending off my X5 to Robert Burke. Turn around was SUPER fast (from the time it was sent out until I got it back in my possession was less than a week). I havent gotten a chance to live fire it yet, but in doing some dry firing there is a noticable difference with a marked improvement. - Takeup has been reduced to almost nothing - Trigger weight has been significantly reduced (Robert advertises 4lbs and I dont have a pull gauge so Ill assume its very close to that) without any creep or spongeyness - Trigger reset is smoohthed out significantly I would be interested to compare it to the GG trigger job and I am on the waitlist for their drop in kit. I have another P320 FCU Ill drop that into if/when they become available. Something of note, however, is their drop in kits are ONLY for guns that have gone through the volunitary upgrade. I have not done this with the X5 or other P320 yet, which is another reason I went with Robert. thanks again to everyone for their input and help understanding the rules

    Gray vs. Burke?

Thread Revivie! I have heard conflicting answers on this so Im wondering if I can get a definitive one here. On the P320 X5, does the grayguns competition trigger job disqualify you from running in IDPA ESP division or USPSA's production division due to the fact that you are swapping out factory parts for aftermarket ones? Some people argue that is does due to the fact that they are no longer OEM parts. Others say since the aftermarket parts are modeled after the OEM ones, they are legal. Has anyone contacted the USPSA or IPDA to inquire about this, or actually talked to an RO at a high level match to get a definitve answer? TIA

Jeff is correct, you will need to get the 10 or 17 round mags. You will also want the .25" base if you are shooting IDPA so that it will fit in the box (6" tall is the restriction IIRC). Depending on how you have your sights adjusted the .25" base pad allows you to just BARELY fit in the box. Im not familiar with USPSA size restrictions but Im sure someone else can post up for you.

if you take off the magwell, the X5 can be used in SSP. The grip weight was deemed an integral part of the pistol and too difficult to remove, so it is allowed in SSP.

It is WAAAYYY right of center. Im essentially out of adjustment on that side. I wasnt sure if having to adjust that drastically would impact anything negatively beyond my OCD annoyance that it isnt perfectly centered

    P320 X5 Thread

Thought I would give an update on sight and point of impact issues. I was FINALLY able to get to get my shots to impact at my intended point of aim. Ill post pics below to detail where my rear sight ended up. To me, the front sight looks centered. When I used a caliper to measure i was within a few tenths of a millimeter on either side of the base of the sight. However, I did notice that the front sight post may not be 100% square. When holding the caliper square on the sight, the caliper is very visibly not lined up with the bore axis. Are front sights supposed to be tapered from back to front or anything that would cause such an issue? Or, am I dealing with a slightly twisted front sight? Lastly, I took a few photos of of some wear around the barrel on the front slide. Is this "divot" typical ? I have not experienced it (or at least noticed it) on any other firearm including my P320 Carry. Thanks guys. Sorry to beat a dead horse on the sights issue. I appreciate any advice on action that should be taken, if any.

    P320 X5 Thread

I'm hoping someone can help point me in the right direction here. I spent about 45 min today trying to get the sites dialed in at 25yds. The elevation I was able to get within an inch or 2 of intended point of impact (I started about 8in low). However my windage adjustment is elluding me as I can not seem to get the point of impact to move far enough right. I moved the rear sight in both directions (counting clicks so I could return back to my starting point). I started with smaller 2-4 click adjustments in one direction and then made larger 15-20 clicks adjustments. When that didn't have the desired effect, I went back to zero and repeated the process in the other direction and still my point of impact only got as close as approximately 3-4" left of intended. At one point, I was off the paper all together after a large adjustment (though I'm not sure if it was right or left, but probably left). I came back half way and my point of impact was right back where I started. I can get the shot to move a little (1-2")left a bit, then bring it back right but never far enough right to be zeroed. I then cut the distance in half to approximately 12 yards and repeated an abridged version of the process with the same results. I honestly must be going crazy or am doing something stupid that I'm overlooking or something. I've sighted in plenty of scopes/red dots over the years and never had this kind of struggle. Everything seems buttoned down tight, no sights moving, no slop in the slide, etc... all shooting was done seated on a rest. I had a buddy shoot the gun too to verify it wasn't me and he got the same results. Groupings were fairly consistent throughout the process. Also, if I am low at 25yds, shouldn't my point of impact be high at 7yds? It's not, it's still low. Shooting 115g factory Remington TIA

A quick search answers my own question: https://dawsonprecision.com/sig-p-series-fiber-optic-front-sights/ Although it would be a shame to have to replace the front sight on a gun at this price point and quality. maybe they intentionally made the front sight taller for optics?

Wow! Im new to adjustable sights. Is it possible to simply buy a shorter front sight from Dawson (or whoever) so that you can get the rear sight within a normal adjustment range?

    P320 X5 Thread

Its so nice to hear someone else has had a similar experience. I was getting so frustrated that I literally stopped to look at the gun during a COF. I thought for sure I was going to see something loose or warped or broken or something. After I didnt, I figured I had lost all proficiency with a firearm. Good to hear that may not be the case and others have had sights THAT far off from the factory.

That was my initial thought as well, but some guys that have been doing this much longer than I suggested the course of action I detailed above. Ill adjust the sight and be done with it. Thank you sir!

    P320 X5 Thread

I have been watching this forum/thread for weeks now, soaking up all of the info I can. Finally decided to sign up so I can comment and get questions answered! This is my first year shooting competitively and its been a blast so far! I purchased an X5 2 weeks ago and have had it out twice for IDPA matches. First match was a qualifier. Shooting 115 grain factory loads I was hitting very low, especially on the last stage where you are out 20 yards (I was approximately 8-12" low of center mass). I talked to a few guys after the match and they recommended leaving the sights but picking up some heavier grain ammo. I grabbed some 124 grain factory loads and was able to get to a match this past Sat. Still WAY low. I have some 147 grain stuff on its way which I will try next, but at this point I think sight adjustment is going to be the correct answer to the problem. My windage adjustment seemed a bit off too. Admittedly I thought it was a sight alignment and trigger press issue. Again, further out it is more pronounced. I was having to aim to the right and off the side of small poppers to hit them at 15 yards. This was using a slow deliberate trigger press, verifying sight alignment, focusing, and going slow after resigning myself to the fact that my times were getting so bad that they didnt matter anymore. Very frustrating. I did not have this issue during the qualifier and the only things I changed sight wise between the two matches was swapping out a green colored fiber optic for a red one. I was very careful not to get the flame to closet to the blade when melting the fiber. Besides the sights issue, I LOVE this gun. I put in a SS guide rod and 14lb spring from springer precision and then got 4 17 round mags and threw some springer base pads on them so that everything is nice and IDPA legal. Just need to get to the range in a non-competition capacity and get this thing sighted in!
