  1. That option isn't as condensed and multifaceted as the one I mentioned. Furthermore the slide in that link cost more then what I paid for the gun new. I could buy another M&p9 for that price and have 2 guns. Just figured since an m&p core is production legal and sap legal in idpa it would be the same for a non core model converted to a core model. Maybe this is the wrong sub to ask.
  2. I have been considering ordering an RMR and I was thinking about cutting my non-pro and non-core slide. Would I still be able to run the gun without an optic in limited or production when the optic is not in use and the slide fill plate is in place? It would essentially be like running a core without an optic in production or limited. Has anyone done this?
  3. I also thought the same and had not seen or heard anyone modify stock baseplates. I decided that since they are cheap and readily available I would try myself. I dremneled and buffed the stock base plate to roughly the same size footprint of the aftermarket offerings and they work great. Are they colored and fancy no, do they look perfect? No. But they function well and they were free to mod until I do pony up for baseplates down the road. They aren't easy to strip of you need to in a flash because they are recessed and don't protrude from baseplate. Just letting people know you can run them and not drop $100 in stock capacity baseplates just to run a magwell, which is dumb coming from a glock platform where that's not an issue. Just my .02 YMMV. ? Tldr; Pros: free mod stock like reliability cons: not pretty no extra capacity difficult to strip out mag due to stock length
  4. I have no affiliation or connection to either springer precision or SSS, but I have been searching and waiting for black ESP magwells for a while and found them in stock. Figured I'd share the link below for anyone else who may have been looking as well. ? https://shop.springerprecision.com/product.sc?productId=350&categoryId=25
  5. I have the comp AEK with polymer trigger and didn't tune a thing and it's been flawless for about 6-800.
  6. So I just recently purchased a pair of ACT mags from Gregcotellc.com and they do not want to drop free when the mag release is depressed. They seem like they are a tighter fit overall. I read great reviews about them being high quality and issue free but both of mine have issues. One works some of the time and other times it won't. Anyone know what the issue is or has had this issue?
  7. By full apex kit what do you mean? - CAEK -DCAEK -DCAEK/CAEK + FSS + RAM Obviously with the trigger shoe.
  8. Thanks. Looks like that's where I'll be division wise and your right, it's pretty irrelevant at this time as I'm not competing to win at this time. I realize the terminology I should have been using is division and not class. I did some digging on minor vs. major and found that you have been shooting limited minor for a while now @Hi-Power Jack. I suppose I'll do the same and see how I progress as a shooter. This makes sense. My terminology is not correct. Thanks for the information and clarification of the rules. Seems like they need to allow external trigger mods bc from my reading there are tons of people who are unhappy with being relagated to limited minor for wanting to shoot a 9mm in limited. So what division would one have to shoot with a 2011 STI edge 9mm? I'm assuming limited major correct?
  9. I agree that it is a sport and there-in lies the fun. But adding a trigger and magwell to the gun is a far cry from Barbie playhouse modding when compared to all the mods open guys run. Thanks for the advice on the training to win DVD I'll check into that. I was more so just trying to get a clear, concise answer to the questions I presented.
  10. Why such a stickler over the trigger/face? Maybe it's because I'm new but it seems absurd that you can literally change every part of the gun internally and the Barrel but changing the trigger face is a no-no. Is there a rational explanation for this or was it just something "they" decided was the rule.
  11. I keep mine in a pelican style knockoff with the other guns I have. I don't currently have a safe so it's quick and easy to lock up and keep in the back of the closet and transport to the ranges when needed. Best $15 ever spent!
  12. Man he makes it look so easy. Deffinately a testimate to years of hard work and putting in the time. One day.....
  13. New shooter here, why does it seem that if you choose to shoot a platform in 9mm, say an M&P9 for instance, there is no class for you to really compete in if you want to mod the gun. Apex trigger goodies in an m&p immediately steps you up to limited and then all of a sudden your at a huge disadvantage having to shoot at minor PF. As a new shooter to the "sport" it feels like you either have to shoot a completely stock gun and not have any fun modding it, even if ever so slightly (trigger and magwell), or you have to buy a 2011 and convert to from shooting 9mm to .40 What options does a new shooter have if they want to just shoot their gun that they already have and mod it a bit. Ex: I have an M&P9 FS 4.25" with an apex trigger kit and want to get a magwell. What are my options for classes that I can shoot and what do you recommend.
  14. My first USPSA match will most likely be at volusia gun and hunt club in new symrna since it's the closest location. I would like to branch out and shoot in Orlando also since I hear they have a good complex there as well. How about yourself?
  15. I will have to do that! Always looking for new places to shoot.
  16. Thats some solid advice. I would have been down for production prior to my apex install but I don't know that there is any going back now haha! The gun feels great in its current form. I suppose I'll have to figure out what division I'm going to shoot it in since I doubt I'll go back to the stock trigger.
  17. Thanks for the info. I currently have all the apex goodies in my gun and it's great thus far. No worries. I was just a bit confused that I might have asked a no no question. Your comment about the da/as swing is very true. The reason I'm asking is because my i does have all upgraded to STI edges and CZ shadows now that they are getting into competitive shooting and I was wondering how well I will be able to compete with an equally matched skilled shooter who happens to get their hands on an STI or another high end 2011 or as/da gun. They all seem to be under the impression I won't excel as fast as they will for one reason or another. Maybe they are trying to justify their purchases but I can see why they think that bc I relarely see m&ps at recent events.
  18. Some hostility with this post. I was just asking if anyone shoots the mm at highly competitive levels. yea I'm relatively new to competitive shooting so I know the gun is plenty good enough for me at this point. Just wondered why I never hear about people using m&ps like I do the g34/35. Why would I feel insecure about shooting an m&p? I'm not sure I understand these passive aggressive replies. Seems to me that asking the question has triggered some people for reasons unknown to me. I was just wondering how well an m&p would compete in the hands of pro/great shooters.
  19. Was looking for info but was not able to find it. More so opinions but how far can one go in the sport of USPSA with an M&p9 fullsize? Bob Vogel has won many titles with his glock 35, and I was wondering if there were any pro shooters who have won titles or have competed in high level matches with m&p9.
  20. Volusia and Titusville thus far. Where do you shoot?
  21. I have read previous threads about the FSS trigger in aluminum not being factory legal bc of the flat face and material difference. My question is now that they have a polymer version that's contoured the same as stock m&p would that trigger shoe/face be legal?
  22. Hello, long time lurker who finally decided to join the forum. I started shooting about 1.5 years ago and have been shooting more and more local matches. I'm from the central Florida area. Was shooting a gen4 G19 and recently acquired an M&p9. Look forward to shooting my first USPSA match in the future as I mainly shoot steel and idpa. Glad to meet you all and hope to run into local guys!
