  1. The difference between the 34 and the 17 isn't as big as most people would have you think. That being said, I would choose the 34 in any competition situation that both guns are allowed. The 34 shoots a little softer, points a little easier (with irons), has a better resale value, and you get a tad more velocity. However, I would bet that you will see little to no difference in your scores between the two guns.

  2. Dawson, TTI, or Vogel sights are the only upgrade that is essential. The only other one i would recommend at all would be a guide rod with a 13lb spring. You can do triggers and all the other goodies but you will be throwing your money away. I'm not saying you shouldn't, but it wont enhance your performance. For other gear I would look at either a redhill or long shadow holster with boss hanger and double alpha racer mag pouches. I put a lot of money into a 34 and ended up selling everything and going back to basically stock other than sights and it made absolutely no difference other than it was more reliable stock.

  3. The P10F basically uses a P-09 mag, right?  For my P10C I got a P-09 mag and added the 140mm mag extension that Springer Precision sells.  23 rnds with the Grams follower.  Fits the mag gauge.

  4. I have two identical Stock 2's. One is practice/ dry fire and the other is a match gun. Before I got the second, I was using a G34 as a backup and I got tired of bringing an extra holster and mags to matches. I think you can usually get by in limited and production without a backup but if you are in CO or open you are probably going to need a backup sooner rather than later.

  5. If I were you, I would go join PSTG for at least a month and watch some of the movement and marksmanship videos. It will give you a better idea of what you need to focus on to improve your hit factor on stages.

I think that depends on how fast you reload and how many charlies you typically shoot. Good M and GM shooters typically average about 1/4 charlies or less, so maybe 7-8 charlies on a 32 round stage, or about 1.6 seconds for a typical 5-6 hit-factor stage.  Most people can't do an unplanned standing reload in less than 1.6 seconds.

Most low level shooters will also have standing reloads with 10 rounds.

  7. In general you cannot makeup for Major scoring even if it saves you a standing reload on every stage. If you consistently miss steel and throw makeup shots, you might see a slight advantage with 10 rounds vs 8 but you're probably also not shooting a lot of alphas if you're not hitting steel. I shot SS minor all of last year and I probably only shot 2 or 3 stages all year that gave a significant advantage to minor.
