I'd take a look at a Gen 5 but only if it doesn't have the cut out on the front of the grip.
-
I think Patriot Defense are the thickest without modifying the grips.

Taran makes Gen5 MOS sights now for if are are using an RMR. Worked great for me.
Didn't know that. Looks like they are doing standard height as well as co-witness.

The sights would be the only issue but Dawson makes a set but I don't think they are adjustable. If you don't like Dawson I've seen several who grind on the Taran and Vogel sights to get them to fit the MOS. I don't think it takes much to get them to work.

I would agree with the 15.5 PD spring or a 14lb Wolff spring.
-
With your current set up, what is the failure rate on DA?
-
I've heard it's a mixed bag on the Apex extractor so I never spent the $60 to find out. In stock configuration I think just about all Gen 3 & 4 will beat up the dot. The Gen 5 extracts much better and I don't think you'd have much of a problem with a Gen 5.

If you want a nice 2011 I say get one. If you can't afford one yet then M&P might hold your interest until you get the money saved.
-
I haven't heard a lot of good about the the ETS, I think they flex too much and it causes issues. Everyone I know who uses Magpul has no issues. Personally I don't see a big advantage of 23 vs 21 round mags so I would opt for the Magpul and save some money. At $17 you can basically throw the magpul away if you wear out the spring. If you're going .40, I think getting 20 rounds is a little more important. I would at least spend the money to have one 20 rounder but you wouldn't need all of them to have extensions.

I'd go with the MOS just for the sake of changing dots. Unless you have a lot of time with a particular dot that you know you will stay with. I know a lot of dots have the same footprint but I'd still like the option of using any dot I want.

The LimPro is legal in IDPA but man is it ugly compared to the Stock 2/3....

I would look at the DAA magazine pouches, they release a lot smoother than others I have used for single stack. As far as holsters go, I would look at Red Hill Tactical or a Long Shadow. The Red Hill is thicker but both will keep the gun secure, are built really well, and draw smoothly. I also recommend the Boss hanger. It might seem like a lot of money at $50 but it is the best piece of gear I've ever bought. It keeps the gun securely in place and you can adjust how far it is from your body with the spacers, it really helps with consistent draws.

What's the price difference between the Limited and the S2? $100? Maybe $150 and if you figure in the magwell then you're looking at almost no difference in cost. If you were getting your first limited Tanfo it might be worth it to look at the S2/S3 but if you already have a limited Tanfo then just get another one. I have found that trying to save $100 in this sport is never worth it and you will usually spend more trying to save money.

I use the same OAL and bullet weight on my current 9mm load and I agree that your powder charge is too low, bump it to at least 3.7 TG and the issues will probably go away.
-
Front serrations are useless on the 9mm because of the light recoil spring so I don't see the point in the loaded unless you can get it cheaper. I would just find the cheapest RO Target and throw a dawson magwell on there.
-
If you can get an RO Elite for around $800 I'd go with that but if you want to spend $1,400 plus then the PM9 is a really nice gun.
-
You might also take a look at the Long Shadow holsters.
-
I've heard the PD firing pins are more prone to breaking.
-
Get a PD firing pin spring but I would stick with the Henning firing pin.
-
I started two and a half years ago and have changed platforms each year. Year one was a G34, year two was an RO Elite 9mm, and I'm currently shooting a Tanfo Stock 2. I might get good one day if I stop changing guns. If I had it to do over I would have kept shooting the 34 and taken a couple of classes.

With the Tanfo I find it is a lot easier to pull the trigger without moving the gun by rolling through the trigger rather than pushing it like a button. Think of it as starting with 1lb then 2lb and so on but doing that quickly. Also, as stated above many people don't grip the gun hard enough with their support hand and have too much tension with their firing hand. When the sight moves or I start pushing shots it is almost always too much tension in my firing hand.

If you like the M&P I honestly don't think it will hold you back at all. I started with a Glock 34, then went to SS, then I got 2 Stock ll this year. A few weeks ago I took the Glock out to run Accelerator alongside the Tanfo and there was no discernible difference in time or hits. If Anything, I am faster with the Glock at gun handling and I can shoot it just as accurately as the Tanfo. Sometimes I kick myself for not just buying a lot of ammo but I just don't like the Glock all that much and the Tanfo makes me want to practice.

I don't think there is a huge advantage to the 2011 over a limited Tanfo or CZ but I would get the Atlas if money isn't a consideration. If you're price sensitive at all then Tanfo Limited is the way to go. The only disadvantage of the 2011 is tuning and maintaining mags. There really isn't a downside to a Tanfo Limited but I prefer the 2011 platform.
