  1. Well at least I am not the only one who had problems with this one. What I finally did was set the OAL to 1.20. It took me a while to work this one out. I like the 185's...now. On the light loads, this depends on your gun. Some light loads are too light to cycle some guns. I also know this by experience. For a light load I use 4.7 gr of W231 and actually have went down to 4.5 gr without a problem. When trying to figure out a light load, load only load 1 mags worth(10) so you will not waste your time, also speaking from experience. It is a pain to cycle your gun by hand because a load it to light and you reloaded 50...ouch. Good Luck <><
  2. I also picked up som Federal NT 40's at the range, one of our local FD members was shooting them. I was impressed on how clean the brass was, just like new. I deprimmed and reloaded. Primers fit with no problem. One answer that puzzled me is , how could moving to small pistol primers be a step in the right direction. Large or small primers still make the powder ignite. If we go to small primers then we might have to adjust our powders, but maybe I am wrong. Of course the last part refers to 45's.
  3. Yup I followed the links... found out alot. I was just use to paper targets, not saying it was bad but I REALLY enjoyed the combat shooting. I was one of those guys at the range laughing at the guys with the sholders square to the target and now I guess I will try it. I was soooo close to getting a medal my first time for my time, I guess I will have to wait until next month. Like I said it was REALLLLY fun. Shred Thanks for the info Rick
  4. I did my first Combat Comp yesterday, it was fun and I have shot better at paper targets , but I had I great time. What I noticed was some shooters had different stances. I noticed some shot with feet inline facing the target and in a semi-squat position. Does this help or is it better with the Weaver. Just curious, what is the difference? I will be back next month and will have a better time. I PROMISE!
  5. Ok I have to ask... Whats wrong with Winchester Double-Dot. Am I missing something with them...like I said just asking
  6. Ahhh yes. the imfamous first SQUIB. It was my son who was the recipient of it. I was really mad at myself for it. I told him to listen for that pfffft instead of a boom, and he did. He came to me and told me about it. Of course I made sure he was ok and he was, I was still pissed at myself. Stay focused while reloading. I have a friend who smokes his pipe while reloading , he says it helps him to stay focused, myself I chew... no flames needed . GOOD LUCK
  7. OK, I have to ask so don't shoot me. What would be the differance of loading these loads to a smaller OAL. I take it that 1.20 vs. 1.150 makes a lot of differance. I am loading an XD40 at 1.140, I guess I should try a longer OAL. Cheers
