If you use the thumb rest there is less in your way, to me that's the biggest. The second is there is now nothing internally to interact with the mag or rounds, reducing the chances of a possible jam, mag not dropping or inadvertent slide lock. This is entirely a uspsa Limited gun for me, there is zero reason to have a functioning slide lock lever.

Gun set up is very personal, don't take what I do as gospel. Next is getting enough mags and base pads, a different magwell and some grips cut to fit.

I would ditch those factory spings included with the gun and purchase a CGW or CZC recoil spring variety pack and go from there, one thing I can add is if you decide to go with thin followers be prepared to tweak your mag spring some so gun doesn't go into a weird half partial slidelock after last round goes in.

Ok, I just got back from the range.  Bending the springs to look just like the picture posted above got one of the 3 magazines working fine.  The other 2 were doing the same old thing.  So, took part of Vinh's advice and I twisted the top leg of the spring in a way that kept the angle in the picture, but tilted down the follower so that high side of the follower (lengthwise if the follower was sitting alone on a table) was sitting lower, since that is the side that is getting up above the feed lips.

After doing that I put it each mag through the paces and no more lockups.

    What a relief.

Glad to hear it worked out

    Bend the top coil.

I had some issue as well, I resolved it by bending the top coil and allowing the gap between first and second coil nearest the front of mag( Bullet side) to be .450in. works for me everytime now

  4. Congrats on the win Charlie, I shot it on Friday and I agree with you having a squad size of 6 didn't help when one of mine thought it was ok to move onto next stage to look while the rest of us were shooting/resetting

  5. I was once in the same boat when I wanted to get out of shooting Prod. with my Sp-01, to go the 2011 route or TSO route . Other's have said the 2011 way was the only way to be competitive in the game of USPSA , but I'm still happy I made my choice of going TSO. Leo was also another person who influenced me to go CZ route.

  6. Shot this one for the first time, never seen a classifier like this and was a bit nervous . Shot called and good visual of magwell landed me somewhere I was satisfied with.

According to classifiercalc I got 80.8%

From speaking with Stuart, you can't just swap on their Bull uppers to an existing frame without machine work done to your frame to accommodate the bull upper slide.

With time , I hope CZC offers just a Bull upper in 9mm/.40 package where we can send in our existing lower frame to fit this on as well as slap back on our factory slide if we decide to sell the gun.

Did the thumb rest drop right into your TSO? Curious here because I wanted a better one than the factory. I agree that the factory one is too small.

    Thanks.

If you mean drop right into where the frame outlines for the factory. Then no...I fixed the issue with just 2 paper gasket type washers per screw .

Is the frame around your thumb rest holes flush or is the frame cut?  I'm running a czc .40 upper on my Czechmate, but the Czechmate has the frame cut for the optic mount.  I'm looking for a thumbrest that mirrors the optic mount frame cut.

Cuts frame, so I put some paper gasket type washers there ....been solid for 9k rounds since .

Ive debated getting this thumb rest or one of the Double Alpha ones. They make the DAA in a regular width similar but maybe a little less wide as this, and then a new slimmer version. How do you feel about this one?

I like it alot, fits my thumb perfect with a slight bit of extra width for in case your thumb isn't positioned perfectly on it

I shot my TS 40 in Limited Major just as it came out of the box, except for the substitution of a full length recoil rod.  Added a fourth mag ans extended base pads and was good to go.  No problems whatsoever.

Now let's look at a TSO.  I've examined several at my club.  You get a supposedly 'tight' slide to frame fit.  You don't.  It is only tight when you first start to put the slide on.  It is looser after that, and looser than the slide to frame fit on my TS after 20,000 rounds.  You get supposedly polished internals.  Looks a lot like my TS internals to me.  You do get a relatively useless thumb rest that forces you to use a full race holster instead of a Kydex.  You get pretty orange base pads that you have to replace anyway to increase capacity.

The TSO grips are better than standard TS grips, the checkering is more grippy and the mag well is prettier.

I did a grip reduction on my TS after I stopped shooting Limited with it.  It made the grip smaller and more comfortable.  Thin grip tape is grippier than the TSO checkering.  I did buy the thin TS grips.  IMO, they are not grippy enough for sweaty hands when it's is 90 out.  They just lay in my used parts bin now, because the LOK thin Boogies grips are the cat's meow.  I have a 'handle' now that is worlds better than the TSO 'handle'.

Although I liked my TS a lot, I drank the cool aid.  I sent it down to CGW for their full treatment.  It was supposed to make a marvelous gun even better.  New sear, comp hammer, springs, firing pin, etc., etc.  Four months and $550 later I got it back.  There was no improvement over the original, except a little bit of trigger creep was removed.  That is how I know that all the TSO hype, and CGW's marketing BS is a load of crap.  I also had a thumb rest added, and later took it off.

OP, you don't say what you will use the TSO for.  If you like the used TSO, buy it.  $1400 seems a lot to pay for a used gun, especially since two at my club bought theirs for slightly under $1500.  If it were me, I'd buy a new TS 9mm ($1100), add LOK thin boggies ($64) and a fourth mag ($47).

Sorry to hear things didn't go as planned for you when you had all that done to your gun bud.

I agree the factory thumbrest sucks , replaced mine with an aftermarket and added the CZC extra wide safety and have been loving my gun since
