  1. Which might be the case in my area. Them boys don't like us with PCCs! LOL
  2. Thanks for the information. I was hoping for someone to mention the tunable buffer system. One more thing you brought up that I overlooked....The cost of magazines! $80 vs $30!!! I think I will give the JP a try.
  3. 10cup - The single question that I have not received an answer from yet. How does recoil compare between the two? I am fully aware this is just a simple 9mm round, but there are substantial differences between different systems. Can the GMR15 shoot as soft with a proper load?
  4. Steve: I have a lot of respect for you and your wealth of knowledge, but I think I'll keep my option between these two for now unless a drastic game changer shows up in the next day or two. Based on all the comments I have read, I am sure the JP is among the most (If not the most) reliable there is. Their no BS warranty and customer service is also a great selling point. The low maintenance is a huge selling point for me. Weight is not much of a concern as they both weight less than my 5.56ARs. Price would be about the same unless Sig decides to hi-jack the price on the new model as is industry standard practice with very few exceptions. So, as mentioned earlier this decision boils down to maintenance and soft shooting. Does anyone that has shot both can tell if I can make the GMR15 shoot as (or close to) soft and flat as the MPX? Perhaps the trade-off of reliability is that extra recoil?
  5. First of all, let me clarify that I own a Gen2 MPX K PSB (4.5") which the wife has barely shot, but she likes it in the SBR and suppressed configuration as there is no recoil. Since it is still under 100 rounds, we have not experienced any of the reported issues by many but I expect I will have to clean and oil soon as suggested with high/early maintenance to avoid issues. This being said, we would like to start shooting IDPA PCC and USPSA and we are looking for a PCC that is reliable and simply runs without issues and of course that has minimal recoil. I almost ordered a JP MGR15 three times this week, but still not 100% on which way I should go. Should I wait for the new MPX Carbine shown at SHOT Shows 2018 and see if it will be much better and not as frequent maintenance than current Gen2 or simply go with a JP GMR15 and work a load that would possibly provide a similar low recoil as an MPX? Suggestions?
  6. I agree with you that an undersize die does nothing to get rid of bulges, however, in addition to a full crimp die it did help me. I had 500+ bullets I was waiting to pull when I decided to add a U-Die and the Lee FCD. It helped to remove "some"bulging and I was able to get almost all of them (except ~20) to pass the case gauge. This is what led me to my initial question. There is no doubt the CasePro is the proper way of achieving the desired results AND most importantly it will FIX and bring back the cases to spec, which no die will do. I will keep a CP100 in my wishlist and hope to own one someday. Just like you, it will be a few years before breaking even. LOL
  7. Sorry to hijack the thread, but I have been really curious... Is it worth getting a Case Pro? I am fully aware that it removes bulging and brings the brass back to specs. I just wonder if the cost is worth it over let's say an undersize die and a full crimp die. This combination should get rid of a lot of bulging in cases, allowing them to fit the case gauge. Don't get me wrong, I have seen a few videos and have been tempted, but not sure I can justify (at least for the time being).
  8. I have been strongly considering getting a Mark7 1050 Pro Autodrive, but I have read a lot of posts of users having issues with it. I recognize that most issues are with the S1050 and not the Mark7 (Especially in the primer station). I would like to gauge your opinions on getting one or saving up some money, selling the S1050 and getting a Mark7 Evo Pro? For the cost of an Evo Pro I can get the AutoDrive and a CasePro 100! LOL
  9. RJJ: Understood. So one tool head for processing as the RT1500 will not allow space to install dies next to it. I assume for 5.56 I will wet tumble twice. Before and after processing. LB
  10. Do anyone knows of a large brass dryer? Larger than the usual dehydrators?
  11. Well... You guys win. I had a nice chat with Dillon support. I am returning the XL650 and exchanging for an S1050! Thanks for the help and steering me in the right direction.
  12. I stopped by my dealer to pickup something else and they had an RO (9mm) and an SSC (.40). I am not a basher, but in all fairness, the RO I handled, even though it had a nice fit and some minor frame play, it was a joke compared to the SSC. The ROs finish seemed like it was sprayed with a spray paint can and the trigger was horrible. As ll others have mentioned, the DW is in another class of its own.
  13. Whoa!!! that's absolutely great to hear. Perhaps I misinterpreted what I read in some other threads about the FMJs. That's good to know. I think I will end with Bayou coated RN or TheBlueBullets TC for my pistols and I have plenty of JHP from Precision Delta and Zero that I will then load for the MPX! Really appreciate!
  14. Answers to all questions (so far). Q. If you already have a 1050 why would you prep/load on a 650? A. I am reloading a decent amount amount of 9mm (Four of us shooting makes 2,500+ a month). I simply don't want to touch my S1050 as it is pretty much dialed in. Q. Why do you need to prep 9mm? A. I would not call it 9mm brass prep as there is no trimming, but I will process thousands of brass a month and unlike many that enjoy (and can spend lots of time) taking care of the brass processing, time is the one thing I don't have (or can buy, pun intended). As mentioned in my initial post, the main purpose of the 650 is to decap and re-size bulk brass, then wet tumble / dry and have it ready for loading in the 1050. (I don't want to decap / re-size dirty brass in my 1050! Yes, I am OCD and I know it!) Since it is so easy/quick to make a caliber change in the 650, I saw an opportunity to do volume loading for 5.56 instead of using a single stage. I just wanted to validate the required die configuration before moving ahead. The Swage-IT is to have the entire 5.56 brass prep cycle complete in a single pass. This will allow me to process more brass and get to spend more time with the family! Glock021 - Thanks for the setup validation. I completely forgot about station #3 for a bullet feeder in the future. I appreciate everyone's comments and suggestions. I already ran a test batch (9mm) and the 650 with the upgrades runs really smooth. Now I need to update my sale thread and add the new Trim Mate case prep center I have as well! New Reloading Gear For Sale!
  15. I just got an XL650 to bulk prep my 9mm brass (which is loaded on an S1050). I realized since it is so easy to do caliber changes with the 650, that I would get one to prep my 5.56LC brass and also reload it. I am looking for validation on the process / gear I believe I should use. 1) Caliber conversion kit - $80 2) Quick change - $117 3) Casefeed plate (Small Rifle) - $40 4) Rapid Trim/Size Die - Should I go with carbide or steel? 3) Additional toolhead (Alum) One for brass prep, one for reloading) - $35 -- 5.56 Prep Tool Head— 1) Mighty Armory Decap/Resize Die 2) Swage IT (Need to remove priming unit when preparing brass / re-install for reloading) 3) Dillon RT1500 4) Lyman M Die (To remove Inside burr in cases) -- 5.56 Reloading Tool Head -- (Here's where I have doubts) 1) Do I need a resizing die here or can I skip since I already did when preparing the brass? (I have a Redding I can use in this toolhead) 2) Priming 3) Power Die/Measure 4) Seating Die 6) Crimp Die
  16. That SSC looks awesome! If you were to play the games (IDPA / USPSA) which would be a better choice SSC or PM9? I don't care about the ambi safety, the magwell will need to be replaced as well... so perhaps the PM9 is a better value?
  17. I will process brass on an XL650. I don't have much space on the bench to add a large bin. I wonder if there is any chute extension of some sort where I can have the brass drop down a tube to my tumbler. Basically, something like the spent primer upgrades, but for brass/bullets.
  18. IDescribe: I didn't say I wanted to have a single cartridge/load for all pistols. I said I want to use the same bullet/profile to load cartridges for each of my pistols. I can get away with the same load for my CZs, but they are crap on my other pistols. Thanks for the details on comparisons, I appreciate it. So, the recommendation is JHP over FMJ-RN, good to know. I am not in the heavy bullets feel so soft club... For some reason, it does not feel like that to me. I am not looking for inexpensive, I am looking for what works, reliability, accuracy, and repeatability. I have some PD 124 RN and Zero 38 Super 124s JHP. I ordered the sample packs of round nose, that I will test as well, but I can load the remaining for the MPX that will eat anything I feed it! LOL
  19. Just ordered a sample pack of the Everglades and Precision Delta JHP both in 124 to try them out. I'll load a pretty large ladder and go spend a few hours at the range with the chrono testing these out. I also have some samples of Bayou 120 TCG and Bayou 124 RN I will test just for the sake of having the load data in my records. MemphisMechanic - That's a nice group. What distance you shot that from? Which propellant? My MPX is the K model (4.5" barrel) as I got a nice deal on it. I will add my can and order the 8" handguard and develop a round for it. As I read, I should be able to use it for local IDPA matches.
  20. I have been loading Bayou Bullets 124 TCG for my CZs and I have been very happy with the results. Bayou no longer makes the 124 TCG, but 120 instead. I recently bought a 2011 and an MPX. I tried shooting my CZ loads in both and they are too short for the 2011 to feed reliably and the MPX tapper gets clogged super quick with them. Case in question is I would like to switch to a round nose bullet profile and start a new ladder/load for the CZ, STI and the MPX. Candidates I had in mind are Precision Delta 124 FMJ and Extreme Bullets 124 Copper Plated (Heavy Plate Concave Base) Just in case you ask: Propellant - Titegroup, Primer - CCI Are there ANY benefits or cons between these? Difference in accuracy or other issues (like leading)? I am aware of the cast, hardness and loading data /crimp differences, I just need more info on them to make the proper choice. I am trying to use the same bullet if possible, and avoid several brands/profiles if at all possible. I know that shooting and testing will determine that after all.
  21. I may have to buy 20 - 50 bullets from several manufacturers and try them. So, which brands are recommended? Bayou Bullets 120 (Dan no longer makes 124s) Extreme Bullets 124 RN Precision Delta 124 RN Black Bullet International Bullets 135 ???
  22. Thanks for all the help. I called Dawson and had a really nice chat. Ordered some mags and tuning kit. I checked my mags and none are in "spec". One more thing that I noted as I did my "homework". It seems everyone is loading their ammo in the 1.80 - 1.22 OAL range for STIs and shorter OAL seems to have issues with proper feeding or extraction. I am aware that the 1911/2011 guns are built off a 45 platform which has longer cartridges. This may explain why the factory ammo I used ran OK, but the rounds I use in my CZs had issues. Because of the short OAL for my CZs. I am now convinced it was most likely a combination of mag-tuning (lack of) and the short OAL of the reloads I used. I would have liked to use just one round that would work on both CZ & STI, but it is OK. Time to start working up my ladder and start from there. Any of you STI owners use Titegroup or are there other recommendations on what propellant / bullet profile to use? This being said, loading to 1.80 - 1.22... would it be recommended to use FMJ/JHP over Flat Top 9mm?
  23. Well, I have checked extractor tension and performed multiple checks. The gun seems to be perfect except for the POA/POI sights issue that will be taken care of. I watched a few videos on tuning mags/feeding lips and I measured my mags. They are certainly not to "specs" as the openings are wider than those specified by Atlas or Dawson. Will the Dawson mag tuning tool also work to close the lips or is it only to open it up?
  24. Will these springs work? Taylor Tactical 1911 Recoil Spring Calibration Kit Taylor Tactical 1911 / 2011 Hammer Calibration Spring Pack
  25. Scott: Nice to see you around in this thread! I just started in USPSA, but most likely I will just use the Shadow2 for that (for now) and the STI for IDPA. I will look up and order the recoil and mainspring you suggested. I am certainly a fan of 124 bullets as well. Now trying Bayou 120s since they no longer make 124s. Trying to settle with a single bullet all around. With the STI and the new 120s I have to start all over again (Including CZs). I'll send you an email to catch up on USPA/IDPA schedule. Looking to shoot during the week closer to our area if available.
