  1. I used to use Pro Grip all the time shooting Glocks and si gle stacks. Last match it was really humid so my buddy and I were both using it with our STI's. His mags quit dropping free a few times and I started getting tons of failures to feed. Cleaned gun and ran same ammo in same conditions without pro grip all over our hands. Problem solved. Needless to say I won't be using it when shooting 2011's anymore.

  2. I shot 1 match with my STI Eagle 9. Shot all Alphas on 2 stages but finished middle of the pack because of the extra time. Bought an Edge in 40 for the next match. Being able to turn up the speed is a big advantage.

  3. I shot the DPMS TriGun years ago. Each squad had a PRO on it. One year we had a "PRO" we never heard of. He was not having a good day and let the squad know it. We just ignored him for the match. Next year we had a PRO I had not heard of. Taran Butler. Guy was extremely helpful even to the point of walking over and offering advice. When I told him thanks and relayed the story about the the other pro from the previous year he shook his head and said " We are here to encourage newer shooters and promote the sport. Not everyone understands that. Great guy.

  4. Buying and trading on the forums for yeas has allowed me to get into a pair of STI's for very little investment. Its taken a long time but watching for the right opportunity has really paid off. Started with a Beretta 92 and soon moved to a Glock 17. Brief run with a Para P16 them moved on to single stack after getting a deal on a Kimber them a Baer. Now shooting an Eagle 9mm for 3GUN and an Edge 40 for USPSA. If I was starting from scratch though I would start with a Glock 34/35 and run from there. Tough to beat the price and reliability.

  5. Had a buddy DQ in 3 Gun last week when his EDGE flew out of a Bladetech Speed Holster due to momentum. Buried itself in 4 inches of sand. First match with a new holster. We are both looking for Level 2's for 3 gun now.

  6. Local informal IDPA style match. Start and fire 2 rounds each into 3 targets then retreat to cover and engage... Fired 6 rounds and turn to move back up range. Kept gun pointed downrange fine. When I tried to explode to cover. Basically did a burn out on the soft ground and peeled the top layer of thin grass off. Tried to get the second leg under but had the same issue. Managed to keep the gun indexed down range as I went down but I had to drop it from 6-8" to do so. I knew it was a DQ so I asked the SO to clear it. Gunned down and and kept score for the rest of the match.

Cursed myself for not wearing my my trail shoes which I usually shoot in. They are now in the trunk so I will have them for any match. I passed on wearing them as I was planning on shooting another location that is all loose sand like a beach and we have have contests on who has the most sand in their shoes at the end. I always win by at least twice as much as anyone else. SO was amazed I kept the gun pointed down range. Funny thing is I have been wondering lately when it was going to happen and WHAM.
