HELP...  Finally got my new TSO 40 out to the range today.  Installed CZC +4 baseplates.  Loaded full.  All 4 failed after shooting 4-5 rounds.  The spring and follower were stuck at the bottom, and rounds were lose in the tube.  What did I do wrong or what followers etc do I need??  Waiting forever to get this gun, and want it to run perfect.  Have many other CZs with baseplates, and never had such a problem.

Would also like to have a full size steel guide rod?  Is it CGW or CZC??

Safety wouldn't engage with loaded magazine??

By 11 coil Grams Spring/Follower kit.  You need a longer spring for the extended base pads.  See link below for example.

I'm shooting a CZ P09 in carry optics. I use both springer and CZC base pads. I bought grams follower and spring kit FKC - 11 CZ small frame from Springer Precision and I can get 23 rounds in my magazines with either Springer or CZC base pads.

    Factory or Mec-Gar mags?

  3. I plan to build a CZ P09 for Carry Optics.  Settled on using CZC mag extensions but confused about which springs to use.  I prefer Grams but cannot find definitive information regarding availability/fit.  Willing to use a different type of spring (CZC, Wolff, etc.) but information is scarce/confusing.  Anyone running 140mm mags for a P09 with information willing to share?

    I'd say it's a common issue.  I've broken 3 or 4 over maybe 40k rounds.

I did reach out to Dillon today and as usual customer service is excellent.  Have a couple spares headed my way.  The customer service rep did recommend placing a small drop of lubricating oil on underside of bolt head to reduce friction.  Thought I would share.

I broke that bolt once in about 5K, BUT it was due to me pushing too hard to seat primers in shallow primer pockets (poor sampling of 45ACP HRTRS).  I do recall I felt the bolt start to give and stupidly just pushed through until it snapped.  Had to drill out the middle of the broken bolt and jam a screwdriver on it to back it out.  Dillon sent me two as a replacement and I haven't had any issues since in over 10K rounds and counting.  I also know not to overexert on the priming stroke now.

I do press the handle forward "solidly" because if primer is not seated all the way sometimes will not go boom.  However, it doesn't seem excessive.  Regarding removing broken bolt, luckily I was able to remove it both times with my fingers.

I shoot a CZ P09 in carry optics. I have been shooting it since April and I have had zero issues. I had the slide milled for the Leupold DPP. My double action trigger pull is just below 7 lbs my single action trigger pull is right at 2.5 lbs. I put in the CGW springs, extended firing pin, stainless guide rod, 18# recoil spring, etc. It runs great and I am very happy with it.

Thanks for the information. May I ask what optic you are running and do you like it or would you recommend another?

  7. I have a friend that runs a CM in Open. (9mm major) He uses jacketed bullets because he says coated bullets (blues) fouls his comp and it's hard to clean. Anyone running a CM or any other comped gun that is using coated bullets with no issues?

I have 10lb to 16lb depending on the load. I have been running 13 with a 170pf W231 and 180gr coated lead hand load.

Thanks for the information. I am running the 13 lb also for 170 pf using 180 gr bullets.  For my grip, the 16 lb spring caused the second shot in the double tap to hit low to target.

  9. See attached/below for direct message from CZ. Typically the longer spring will have the highest lb rating however the longest also typically has more coils. The 2 non-16 lb springs have the same number of coils so the longer one has the lower lb rating.

  10. Thanks for the information!  Confirmed with CZ-cz that the three recoil springs are 11 lb, 13 lb and 16 lb.  The 16 lb spring is tapered at one end and the gun ships with this spring.  The other two springs are 11 lb and 13 lb.  HOWEVER, the longer spring is the 11 lb.  The 11 and 13 have the same number of coils but the 11 lb spring is longer.

  11. Is there any coincidence that both bullets that aren't passing have the "CBC" headstamp?  The Hundo gauge is awesome.  Usually if a round doesn't pass I inspect the brass for defects and if none found I run it through the crimp die only once more and recheck.  If it still fails it goes into the practice box.
