  1. There is more dot movement compared to the JP,  but it's basically straight up and returns quickly. I haven't had it long enough to play with the buffer weight\springs yet. So I may be able to tune some/all of it out. I think it's just a product of weight differences. I think the comp does something, but it's a small percentage compared to .223. It's 95%+ recoil spring/buffer driven in a blowback.

  2. Looking to build a PCC for my brother. I have a GMR15 lower (LRBHO is 100%). However since JP isn't selling GMR15 lowers for home builds yet. I'm on the search for an alternative.

From some reading it sounds like qc10 is hit and miss and the NFA upper can work with some tweaking.

What LRBHO are you running and how is it working for you?

  3. It gets better with use. Also, there are 3 options for safety size on both sides from JP, what size are you running now? If you are running lower profile levers, you can always order the bigger ones, they just bolt on.

I have no issues with getting mine off and on in competition, but I too thought it was a little stiff when it first arrived.

  4. There is no go-to as personal preference plays a huge role. Most other stuff is home built.

However, if you want ultra light weight it's going to be a taccom barrel 15(oz) and Carbon handguard (<6oz with barrel nut) and a slick side upper of choice with a charging handle of choice.

I built one to play around with and it's nuts how light it is.

other than that, KVP makes the lightest regular barrel offering (19 oz w/o muzzle device) but the chambers can be short and require reaming to run longer ammo. There is a barrel maker thread in this forum, search PCC barrel maker.

The other lightweight handguard are a preference thing and the lightest ones are around 9 oz with barrel nut for 12 inch 11ish oz for 15 inch.

***edit- on a side note, taccom preps their barrels like JP so you can load long***

  5. Price, handguard preference, and wait time seal the deal for most people. I have a GMR-15 and it's a monster. But I also shoot a JP SCR-11 in 3 gun so I'm a fan of the handguard. A stock GMR 15 was 4th at nationals, and the gun wasn't the difference between 4th and 1st. In fact JPs were the most common factory gun at nationals by more than double. You can't go wrong with a JP, but if you are planning on changing a bunch of stuff out its a waste.

  6. I am going to call and talk to Adam about this tomorrow. However, the way I think this works is like this:

The new buffer has the exact same amount of buffered mass. 3 tungsten + 1 steel = 3 steel + 2 tungsten. The new version allows you to have up to 5 tungsten weights if you need it (vs a highest mass of 4 tungsten weights on the old). This is most likely an answer to other bolts having to lose their bolt mass inserts to run the SCS. The new system basically answers the call for people running higher PF ammo or people running non-JP bolts that need to add more mass into the system for it to work properly. So, in theory, both will run exactly the same in a stock set up w/ a JP bolt, but the new one has the ability to add more mass to the buffering weight (25% more). People running hand loads in JP's are going to lighter weights and lighter springs, so I would guess that the regular SCS will be the better option if running a JP bolt.

(I will clarify with Adam tomorrow and update this thread)

If you are wondering about splits.......don't; you give up nothing. Recoil is light and fast.....the sight comes back to target immediately.

This is a video on the TACCOM FB page.....couple things, the first 3 targets he is shooting at are at 10 to 13 yards and pay note to the death star.....he shoots it fast enough so that it does not move.

Here it is, video of my son shooting the ULW barrel with our CF Hand Guard and the Adjustable recoil system, here is the link:

What ammo are you running in this video? And what's the approximate power factor? Thanks!

  8. How is dot tracking? What are your splits like?

I get that it is light, I just wonder if give up some split speed. The only reason leograndis ran something similar was that they welded the tube after the compensator.

  9. First, I am curious if anyone is using anti-walk pins with their hiperfire triggers. If so, which ones?

***I do see one post where there was a slight degrading of the trigger pull using KNS in one persons build, but am curious if anyone else has any experience***

Second, what ambi safeties are people using? I see that hiperfire lists off 6 or so that they know don't work on their site. Would like to avoid spending $$ on a ambi safety that won't work.

    Thanks!

  10. I don't see how that would even be an advantage. If you are in double mode you have to take an even number of shots before leaving a position. Can't be running with the trigger depressed. Seems like something that adds another layer of unnecessary BS that can easily get you dq'd. I think you'll see better times with a lighter crisper trigger like a JP or a hiperfire.

  11. Have:

    JP SCR-11 18" light contour

    leupold vx-6 multigun

JP GMR-15 with c-more (if I want to run in PCC or it is bay stages)

    CK 2011 9mm steel grip

    mossberg JM pro 24"

Only things I would change with money as no object would be the new Swarovski 1-8 for a scope and a tricked out benelli m2.

  12. I have a 18 inch light contour SCR-11 and a GMR-15 set up identically but with a 16 inch barrel. I think it balances perfectly and is insanely accurate for an AR. It comes down to what you want the rifle to do. If you want to shoot true long distance 3 gun stages or want to go play at an 800yd range, go for the 18 inch. If you will only be shooting hoser bay stages, get the 14.5. I wanted something that would do both very well. Originally when I got the SCR I thought I would eventually buy a 14.5 upper for short range matchs, but I am just going to use the GMR for that. In any event, I can tell you that the 18 inch is the last thing holding me back from better times/performance.
