  1. I added grams guts and TTI base pads to mine and they worked perfectly in my CKARMS Limited gun.

That’s what my plan was/is but seems like a lot of people are using MBX so wondering if they have any advantage. To upgrade the sti tubes I need spring, basepad and follower. Right?

  2. I bought a used Edge (.40) that came with 18 round mags. I’d like to upgrade to 20. They all currently feed and function 100%. Anyone know if there is any advantage to getting MBX 20 round mags vs upgrading the guts on the the sti tubes?

Hey Mike, have you had them do a review of one of your match videos? Just curious how long it took to get feedback and what they said vs. how you critiqued yourself

Yes. The turnaround time was super fast too. Not sure if this is always the case or if this will remain the case as they grow but it was less than an hour. Ben pointed out a bunch of little things that I would have never noticed (head position, shoulder positioning, and efficiencies in movement) that all add up over the stage. You can also view their critiques of other members as well. Here's a screenshot so you can see the turnaround time.

  4. I have the silver membership. So far I think it's pretty awesome. You can post questions on the forum like you do here but the big difference that you're going to get insight directly from Ben or Kim. I have received great insight from enos members over the years but I think there's an added value knowing exactly who the feedback is coming from. There is also a lot of video content. Some is basically a video of how to do some of the drills Ben has in his books but they also have stage breakdown video, video from Ben's classes, breakdown video of why Ben or Kim shot a stage the way they did, and detailed analysis of member submitted video. With the silver membership they'll review one of your match or training videos/month and provide very detailed feedback on what you're doing right or wrong along with some drill to help improve. I'd say that if you're serious about training and getting better, there is a lot on pstg that can help with that goal.

  5. I've gone back and forth in my SA loaded. Currently using the blue Wilson Shok-Buf. Has not caused any issues at all. I like the way the recoil cycle feels. YMMV

Same here. Using the blue Wilson in a SA RO in 45. Feels like the sightly shorter slide cycle returns my sights quicker. Whether or not it does, I like it. I change every 1500 rounds or so and have not noticed and cracks or excessive wear in the buff within 1500 rounds and have gone through 5 since I started using them.

  6. I went from a Lee pro 1000 to an LnL and now have a 650. Upgraded to the 650 after 2 frustrating years loading about 20,000 rounds on the lnl. The biggest weakness of the lnl (from my experience) is the case feeder. Between the top (jammed funnel) and bottom ends (feeding cases on to shell plate) I could never get through more than 200 rounds without a stoppage. I now load about 800 rounds/hr and have not had a single notable issue with the 650. For me, it just works.

  7. Ya I was actually. Trigger would freeze up and not drop the firing pin. Johnny is great and I could call him anytime to fix it. It started happening the day before a major match so I just switched back and liked it.

Glocks work great until you start messing with perfection [emoji16] I’ve been luck but you can’t beat the reliability of the stock parts!

  8. I've used a Johnny glock trigger but I recently switched back to the stock trigger with a plus connector. Just put 15k through the gun and the trigger will be fine

You don’t see people switch back to stock often after they invest in a nice competition trigger. Were you having reliability issues?

  9. Anything 1911 requires fitting ? .
Does the slide stop rotate freely without a mag?  No, find where it's dragging.
Does the ledge inside the frame fully contact the mag follower?  No, check that it's the correct slide stop for that caliber and that the slide stop is resting against the frame.
Is there a detente impression drilled into the slide stop?  No may need to make a gradual relief on the bottom of the detente hole to allow it to pop up.
Usually the issue with the slide stop is it pops up too quickly though.

There isn’t a detent on the stop but the factory part doesn’t have one either. Is there supposed to be or am I missing something?

  10. I also shoot a 17 with 147 gr coated. I was able to cut my group size in half moving from stock barrel to a kkm (8” to about 4” offhand at 25). With that being said, my stock barrel shot great with plated but the kkm does not. I believe this was because the plated I had were .355 vs .356 for the coated.

Before committing to a new barrel, I’d try a few different bullets (including factory) and shoot them from a rest at 25.

And, as mentioned above, too much crimp can cause accuracy issues too. Pull some of your reloads to see if you’re crimping through the coating.

  11. New slide stop does not reliably lock open on last round. When it does it just barely catches. I’m confident it’s not the mag springs as I’ve tried several including new. Any ideas? Does a slide stop requiring fitting?

  12. I’m about to join a 2nd club.  My current club is 15min up the road.  I can draw, “rapid fire”, do movement WHEN NO ONE ELSE IS USING THE RANGE.
That is why I’m joining another club.
That other club is where I help and Shoot USPSA.  It’s an hour away, but I have access to everything I need and several bays to use.

I’m sick of setting up targets and as soon as I go to practice, a car pulls up.

I’ll still go and set up drills where no movement is needed, but It will be nice to have a bay, with all the fixings, when I want.

2 for me for the same reasons. Local is only 15 minutes away but sucks when someone shows up and ruins your practice plans.

  13. Started on a Pro 1000, tried a friend's 650, ended up with four Pro 1000s.  I love em.

    THIS.
Case feeder is $240 motor driven for the Dillon, with multiple $40 caliber conversions... or a $12 plastic tray with no moving parts from Lee, and it works just as well for me.
People pay hundreds of dollars extra to get reliable vibrating primer tube fillers (PAL) just to avoid paying $350 for the Dillon one... and I stick a flip tray in my press and get back to loading.

Call me tight, but the cost of the Dillons just offends me, especially if you're loading multiple calibers.  For less than the cost of a 650 caliber conversion (Dies + Conversion kit + Quick Change), I can have another entire dedicated Pro 1000 shipped to my door.

I'm certainly not a fan boy, the Dillons are fine machines and I'm glad the people that like them are happy.  But the only reason I've found so far that would cause me to move on from a Pro 1000 is if I decide I need a bullet feeder.

The priming system was so unreliable that I sized/deprimed, then hand primed, then loaded. The problems caused by a missed primer were maddening! Don’t get me wrong the pro 1000 is great for people that don’t load in high volume and like tinkering as much as loading. It’s like the fisher price version of a progressive press though. Once I started shooting uspsa, I just couldn’t take it anymore.

  14. Anyone else start on a Lee Pro 1000 and end up loading on a Dillon 650? Really elevates your appreciation for Dillon’s engineering! Hard to believe I used to load 9mm in 3 separate steps!

  15. I use one in my SS gun. Shooting major (45), I like the short stroke effect. Not sure if it actually does this but I get the sense of a faster slide cycle and faster follow up shot with the buff in place. Haven’t timed wit or witout though.
