  1. If you are referring to STI brand new generation mags--I noticed the same thing on my Marauder. The original gen mags go to slide lock, but the new gen STI mags (140mm length) tend not to (there is one new gen mag that will go to slide lock but if you "breathe" on the slide it will go forward). For IDPA I use 126 mm MBX mags designed to go to slide lock. I don't use the Marauder for USPSA since getting an Edge in .40 (Lim Major).

  2. The level of the competition will most likely be different from what you are used to. Just show up to learn, be safe, and have fun at your first USPSA match. Do not get discouraged if some of the shooters appear to be "way faster" than you are used to seeing. It will take some "getting used to." Make sure to get on a squad with people willing to help you learn. You will have to get used to figuring out how to shoot a stage without being given the choreographed/specified sequence typical in IDPA.

  3. Update:

Thanks again to all for the help. I took Joe's advice (shaving material off the nub of the Unica Flat Safety). It took five (5) passes (going "light") before it would engage at full cock and hammer down. It is a "tad" stiffer to engage the safety when hammer is down, but works well at full cock position. I do not want to shave any more material off now that it is functional. It is for USPSA Production so safety will not be used anyway--just wanted it functional.

I'm going to test fire/function check it well at the range this afternoon.

  4. Thanks for that info.

All my parts were installed and tested by PD before shipping the Stock II. They were out of the Unica Flat Safety at the time and I finally got around to installing it. I do not like the large ambi safety that came with the gun.

I just called PD and talked to JoAnna. I know that Joe reads the forums sometimes. I'm posting a picture of the Stock II with hammer forward (Unica Flat Safety will not engage).

  5. I just found MM's Tanfoglio One-Piece Sear/Safety Fitting video:

In it he notes you may need to "shave on the underside of the silver wing" until the black cam on the safety can rotate underneath it and lock it.

In half cock the silver wing is pushed back slightly by the trigger bar and the cam easily goes under, but in hammer forward or hammer fully cocked the cam will not "get under" the underside of the sliver wing.

  6. I'm attaching a couple of pics (one with red arrow point to contact point of Unica Flat Safety when hammer is at half cock and the safety is up ("engaged")). When the hammer is all the way forward the safety will not "get under" the part pointed to on the sear cage by the arrow. In this image the tab on the safety is able to "get under" the bar on the sear cage. Hammer forward and the tab will not "get under" the silver bar.

  7. I installed the Unica Flat Safety on my Stock II (has the PD BOLO Interrupter, BOLO pin, Titan hammer parts installed). I followed Memphis Mechanic's video (just the section on taking the safety out (the sear cage of course popped out after pulling the left side of the ambi safety off).

I reassembled the sear cage and installed the Unica Flat Safety and the DA and SA work, but the Unica safety only engages when the hammer is in the half-cock position. The spring end is off the notch and back into the groove in the sear cage. The safety will not go all the way up when the hammer is completely forward.

Anyone install this that can provide some advice?

    Thanks

  8. I have a Stock III XT and Shadow 2. These two are quite similar in weight and in fact use the same holster (PDR Pro 2) except the tension screws on the holster need adjusting for each. The Stock III XT slide with installed recoil spring tended to be a bit sluggish and I replaced it with the other spring included (a bit heavier) and the slide returns more quickly (not as sluggish). I like both and have used both in USPSA Production (although I'm focused on Limited this year). S3XT is a nice pistol. I like larger grips so I took off the EG alum grips and put Patriot Defense polymer grips on (but stippled them a lot to increase friction). Both S2 and SIIIXT shoot similarly to me (the S2 slide is slanted, but other than they are quite similar).

  9. Not sure what your point is. Single Stack is a separate division and a Production gun does not enter into the statistical equation nor does the overall placement of a Single Stack shooter in a match. The statistics provided only support the conclusion that you have a better chance of winning Single Stack (if shooting minor) in a larger match than you do shooting minor in Limited. You can bring lasagna to a chili cookoff, but you ain't gonna win first place.

  10. Recent Single Stack rankings,  Battle in the Bluegrass (April 20th) results (from Practiscore), first 11 places (and some damn good competitors). Four out of top 11 shot minor (that is 36% of top eleven). But 2018 Glock Area 6 Championship Limited Division (April 11th), the first two competitors shooting minor were 25th and 26th place. So, as Mr. Moto noted earlier in the thread--it would appear that if you want to shoot minor (with chance to score higher) in a division that allows major, you should stick to Single Stack. These are statistics from recent major matches with top-level shooters and are self-evident. Unless you have an agenda the case is closed (wanna win in a division with minor and major then shoot major). Codicil (if you are shooting local matches with lukewarm heat at the match it doesn't matter as much, but in a bigger pond there are bigger fish and then it does matter a lot).

  11. I have an Edge (.40) and Marauder (9mm). The Edge is a good USPSA Limited gun. I use the Marauder for IDPA and 3-Gun, but have been shooting mostly USPSA lately. The Marauder in 9mm would be my choice for 3-Gun. Ammo costs less . . .

  12. The Marauder is an excellent gun. I've had one for two years now. I use it mostly for IDPA and occasional 3-Gun. No need for the DVC--unless you have the money and want to so spend it. The DVC will not outshoot the Marauder. The Marauder is my favorite STI gun (I have and Edge in .40 and had an Eagle). I've shot a few DVCs and would not trade my Marauder for one.

  13. The "diet" industry (gadgets and supplements) makes multi-millions because most people want to believe the hype (and "celebrity" endorsements). If you are 50 or more pounds overweight and out of shape you typically don't want to admit reality (going to take many months of dedicated exercise, changing eating habits, and sticking to a routine, . . .). I really don't feel like going to the gym after work tonight, but I will. It was not the Stock 2 that won Nationals. It was Ben Stoeger going to the "gym" and "working out" religiously.

But the best thing about the updated rules is that we have something to "chew the fat" about on the forums. Now I'm going to go check the Classifieds for anything for sale that will improve my shooting.
