Where those front cocking serrations stock?

For the life of me I can't understand why any company who makes 1911's with the adjustable Bomar style sights doesn't put front cocking serrations on as standard.

Grabing those rear serrations on an unloaded table starts sucks. That rear blade will take the skin right off.

I think the front serrations are standard.  I have a loaded stainless, and it also has them.

I use a sig max in 45, very nice.  I had a 9mm RO, that was a very good gun too.  I gave it to my nephew for a graduation present :)

Now I have a DW pointman 9, excellent pistol!

Thanks Duke.  What were your reasons for starting in Limited?  It's interesting to hear that you have no regrets looking back to that decision.

Just before I got into uspsa, I got an edge in 45 because I wanted a nice double stack 45.  I hadn't gotten into 40 at that time, so limited was the best place to start.  It just grew from there :)  45 didn't hold enough so now I have 40's.

  3. I've only been shooting pistols for about 4 years now (3rd year in uspsa/idpa and a mid C now), before it was all rifle.  I started with a modified weaver, but I do the isosceles now, much better results.  I have tried the trigger guard hold, but my finger keeps slipping off, so I don't use that method.

This video made a big impact on me, that's for sure!  Glad you liked it!

  4. I also bring the gun to my left eye rather than tilt the head.  Jerry Miculek says move the gun, not your head.

My right eye is weak, so I trained myself to shoot rifle left handed when I was a teenager (didn't want to wear glasses)

    Now, right and left handed rifle feels natural, although left hand is more natural for me now.;

Can't clone people and have them shoot twice.

Data is undeniable...an assertion made by one of the other thinking people in this thread.

You don't have any data about nationals that proves your assertion.  The mere fact that the top 60 are all shooting major says nothing about minor.

When you are cracking the top 60 in limited at Nationals, or even at a level 3 match, shooting minor then I might believe you know what you are talking about.  Until then, I'd say the consistent results proving that minor is not competitive at higher level matches speaks volumes more than you beating the same two dudes at your local match each month.

I don't think you can draw that conclusion.  The top 60 would be the top 60 no matter what they use IMO.  If one or all of them went with lim minor, and then did worse, you could make the case then.  But not now.

I don't see the need for any changes.

This long story leads me to my question. Do most limited shooters prefer the .40 for carry/defense or is it purely a competition round for them?

It is a competitive round for me. It is useful though, as I can use the same bullets for 10mm

    I carry 1911 45's or a colt  380 depending on environmental factors

I have 2011's in .40 and 9mm, there is a noticeable difference in recoil on a .40 shooting major and a 9mm shooting minor in the same type of gun.

I have a G34 and G35, a lot less recoil when shooting the G34 compared to the G35.

    I have 1911's in 9mm, .40 and.45, a lot less recoil in the 9mm than the .40 and.45.

I am 6' 3" 195 lbs, I am sure it is more noticeable with smaller people or people with smaller hands.

This is very true.  I shot a friends 9mm 2011, and it felt like there was no recoil at all.  There is definitely a noticeable difference.

Major has an advantage. People like it that way. That is not an 11 page discussion.

Side note though, was talking to one of the SS shooters at a level 2 match Sunday, he said that a lot of folks were switching from 45 to 40 for major, a bit cheaper, a bit easier on mag springs (8 round limit), no downside. Not sure that I would draw a line from that one data point but I thought it was interesting.

I've seen this too up here in the northwest.  One of my buddies just got an apeiro ss in 40.  One of our best shooters uses a 40 because it can be loaded to major and to minor (steel for an example)

I didn't see that typed 100 times over either...thank you for the new info.

The scoring advantage to balance DVC is broken.  The arbitrary 1 point difference given to major back when everybody was shooting 1911s and hi powers because hi powers had almost double the capacity and major power factor was 175 or higher is now out of alignment with DVC.  Why is that so hard to understand?

It's not hard to understand what you're trying to get across, but you are failing at convincing anybody.
