  1. L.T. Dillon Shooting Sports Facility near Waco? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Huh? I'm in Waco and I've never heard of that range. The only ones I know of are "The Outhouse" (archery shop and range) and Central Texas Rifle and Pistol Club. There's also a skeet and trap range near the airport. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Try www.tigervalley.com for more info on LT Dillon range. Flexmoney, as far as I know the closest IPSC match for DFW is in Waco at CTRP. IDPA seems to rule in the DFW area, although there are a few places doing the new IDSA thing as well.
  2. What kind of optic would you recommend for 3gunning? Right now I run a Bushy Dissipator w/iron sights and do ok at the local side matches. However, we never shoot anything over 50yds at these side stages and irons are not a handicap. I am wanting to get into the true 3 gun game where the shots can be longer. Any help would be appreciated.
  3. I bought a Ruger Mk II years before I even met my wife, thinking "this would be a great gun to teach a kid how to shoot". Many years later, I am now teaching my 9 year old daughter with it and have even bought her a 10/22 as well. Its a good thing 22lr is cheap as she burns through it as fast as she can. Almost brings a tear to my eye.
  4. I know the range owner is doing a lot of work improving the range right now and has some big plans for it. Is that what you are talking about?
  5. Many reasons for LEO only. Mainly its because most cops have this notion that they are better shooters than most civilians. That may be true for most civilians, but not the ones who shoot matches. Cops hate to lose to civilians, so they show up once, shoot, don't do so well and never come back. By doing a LEO only match we can get them used to the idea that shooting in a match is not a cake walk, but it is a lot of fun and then we may be able to hook a few for regular matches. I am just trying to get more cops out to the range and get more trigger time for them.
  6. I am trying to start up a monthly LEO only match in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. We are shooting at the TDSA range in Ferris. We had a few (5) shooters at the match last month and had a great time. If anyone is interested we are planning the next one for Sunday Sept. 4th at 9:00 am. Match fee is $15 and we will shoot approx. 150 rounds. PM me for more info if interested. Thanks.
  7. Mike, There are a few IDPA clubs in the DFW area. Cross Timbers IDPA, Dallas IDPA, Collin County IDPA and Johnson County Shooting Sports. There is a 3 gun match monthly in Waco at Tiger Valley. There is also a new game called IDSA (International Defensive Shooting Association) being shot as well. It is much like IDPA but the scoring is much simpler. www.theshootingsport.com is the site for IDSA. Most of the clubs I listed above also have websites. I know that Dallas IDPA shoots very often. Good luck.
