  1. Does anyone have any pics with measurements showing how much they took off to make work? I am going to try to do this once without messing it up. Are the FPB even tested at Level 2 matches to ensure they work?

I have a titan hammer, xtreme 1 piece sear, and a bolo. . Xtreme FP

  2. Ok so I have installed a delta hammer with the xtreme 1 piece sear and a bolo. I was messing with my gun and realized that the factory firing pin block isn't blocking my xtreme FP from going forward without depressing the trigger. What could be causing this? What is the fix, extended FPB? I personally don't care if it works, this is a competition gun only but technically to shoot USPSA Production I need it to work.

Depends on your budget.   What say you?

I think $1500 all finished is a decent number. Any more than that I'd probably just go get a semi-custom/custom. I think it would be fun to by a bare bones gun and upgrade parts to what I want. The RO appears to be a good gun to do that with. I didn't know if there were more like that out there.

I don't mean to be critical; this is a 100% genuine question and not a criticism:

As someone new to Tanfos who finds the factory S3 safety ideal to ride with his long thumbs, do you have smaller hands and/or shorter thumbs that don't reach? Or are you simply used to a lower thumb location with your grip?

With a whopping 2 range trips under my belt with the gun I like the leverage my strong thumb has on the gun this way. I'm wondering if there's a USPSA scenario where I get to look forward to knocking the safety upward? Perhaps after a rushed mag change.

No problem, I came from shooting striker fired guns that didn't have a thumb safety at all. This allowed me to have a higher grip with my support hand. When switching to a tanfo what ended up happening was the meaty part of my support hand would ride up and bump the factory safety just a fraction of an inch up, which wouldn't allow the hammer to drop obviously. I have since changed my grip slightly and made that issue go away but if i had a flush safety that would be a none issue really. I guess it would be a preference, some people like the 1911/2011 style where you can ride the safety down others prefer less gadgets and levers to worry about on a production gun. I guess I fall in that category

  5. I am considering making a switch to Single Stack for next seasons USPSA. This would be a fun project for the off season. So if I was to do it, it would be with the intention of shooting major full time. So my question is, which one is softer shooting? I know you can get 180 gr bullets in both calibers. In theory .40 is a higher pressure round than .45 so would that mean with both calibers loaded to make major the .45 would shoot softer. Anyone have more insight to this? I have only shot production with a big heavy cheater (Tanfo) gun chambered in 9mm. Thanks

  6. If you want a relatively inexpensive DA/SA gun I think the guy that mentioned to CZ P09 is onto something. CZ has a huge following with a ton of aftermarket parts available so you wouldn't have an issues making the trigger something pretty nice. That being said you can get the triggers on those XDm's to be pretty nice for a striker gun. You may see a bigger advantage going to a 40oz+ steel gun over another polymer option.

Like you have only been shooting USPSA for about 2 years. I started with a Glock 17, quickly went to a 34. I was initially classified as a "C" shooter the end of 2015. Bought a Tanfoglio Stock 2 in September of 15', messed with the trigger a little over the winter. By July of 2016 I was reclassified as an "A" and am knocking on the door of master class. The triggers are important, but having a big heavy cheater gun has made more of a difference for me. Im sure a P09 or something equivalent would be an excellent option but maybe save your money and go pick up a CZ-75 Shadow equivalent.

Are you certain of that? Someone here measured one and it was almost exactly the same length. I think. At least, people on the internet are repeating it... so it has to be true.

haha its on the internet so it has to be true. I will be able to tell you in about a week, when I get my xtreme FP in the mail. My understanding is that its slightly longer, lighter than the factory FP but heavier than hennings. I was messaging one of the Patriot Defense guys and they all use the Xtreme FP because hennings is too light with their 10lb hammer spring. I used my henning FP with a wolff 14lb HS all year and set off federals reliably. I am just getting greedy with trying to get a lower DA/SA pull.

  8. There would probably be a slight difference in felt recoil favoring the 17L. Its up to you, the 34 gives you the option to shoot Production in USPSA and SSP in IDPA I believe along with Limited. But you can't shoot anything but limited with the 17L. . . The 34 gives you options.

  9. Tanfolgio! I had the same issue. I shot a G34 for the first year, I was happy with where I had the trigger (for a glock) and had dawson sights but I just couldn't get use to the feel. Time to move on and I am glad I did. Not bagging on glocks, obviously there are more glocks being used in production than every other manufacture here in the US.

I started with a G17, moved on to a G34, and then went on to a Tanfoglio Stock 2. I could notice a difference in my split times and tracking the sight during quicker strings. That being said with a good grip the difference isn't as dramatic as many believe it is. Many people, myself included, get caught up in trying to solve issues or seek better performance by changing our equipment . When in reality we could all look in mirror to find what needs the most work.

  10. You should be fine, people shoot glock 22's and 35's with conversion barrels all the time. If you can change the caliber without changing the profile of the gun and its still legal I don't see why you can't have a Gen2 top end that is the same profile as a gen3.

  11. Having the backstraps on the gen4 are a nice feature. I where size large gloves and have liked the gen4 grip circumference without a backstrap on the gun. That being said the triggers side by side are better on the gen3. I had a gen3 and gen4 side by side before buying the gen4. The way I look at it, you are going to change the connector and likely many others parts on the trigger. That parts easy, you can't change the gun frame though. Just my 2 cents.

  12. 124 gr subsonic from American Eagle should put you close to minor PF. I used them out of my Glock before I bought my tanfo and started reloading. If you want the perfect setup, start reloading. You can get into it for a fair amount, and you won't regret it once you are setup. Dillon Square Deal B if all you want to do is reload for pistol, or a RL 550B is a great option. (the press I went with)
