I don't see much 115gr Blue Bullets data out there.  I'm looking to make some sub minor loads for this year for Steel Challenge.  Any starting points someone can share?

I don't shoot steel challenge.  What I do know is my 115gr load is 4.5-4.6gr or SP which gets me around 140pf ~1200fps out of my 16" MPX barrel.

That was an unlucky malf. I hadn't cleaned or removed the extractor in 15k rounds. Only maintenance I did was infrequently wipe out the inside of the upper receiver and the bcg with cleaner, then re-lube. Fouling had started to build up around the extractor causing the tension to lessen. I did check the tension prior to the match, but only with my finger, not a casing, so I didn't realize how much build up there was in the crevices.

Normally that jam should have been a stovepipe, but the casing of course made its way back into the upper and got lodged above the feeding round. That required a very firm pull of the charging handle and removal of the mag to get loose.

Also just my luck it happened on a 120 point 7 second stage. So a 7 second jam doubles my time and puts me at ~ 50% or 60 stage points lost. Literally on any other stage it wouldn't have had such a large effect on my score.

Keep in mind too that Lyn was running the same gun the same day and had no problems.

JP also said that they tightened the tolerances on extractor fitment for the production guns.

That might even be them being overly cautious. Just add an extractor removal and cleaning every 5k to the maintenance protocol.

I have video of you from that stage…

I understand your pain. I almost bought a JP5 or MPX for that very reason. Decided to just get a Gibbz lower and see how that turns out. Keep the left handed title warm for me ;)

I had a Gibbz lower that I ended up selling. I debated on switching from the MPX a while ago but decided against it since I’m so deep into the MPX platform.

I’ll gladly keep my unofficial lefty title warm for anyone to take. After watching this past years footage of myself, I feel it’ll be easy to take

  4. One of my MPX’, the gas plug hole was filled with carbon up to the notch for the barrel gas port. It would malf maybe once every 2-300 rounds. I may know a lot about these guns but still learn new crap all the time. Point being, I cleaned it out and so far I haven’t had any issues. It’s my practice MPX with the highest round count.  I’ll report back once I get more round count. It may be a while since it’s winter and essentially shooting comes to a hard stop where I live

A few wrong handed people tried my JP5 and they all liked the controls.

I have a tough time thinking a mil spec mag button will feel better than the MPX mag button with the Odin works extended button on it. The leverage of my setup feels amazing. And we ALL know that’s what sets the upper class shooters apart from lower class shooters..

regardless, I wanna try the JP5. A lot. It would be an expensive journey to switch platforms tho. I have back ups to my back ups for MPX crap. And no, not because they malf on me. 3 is adequate, 2 is 1 and 1 is none

Best left-handed PCC shooter right here!

Thanks!  I could really test out that ambi mag release button 😎

fun fact. The only reason I shoot the MPX is because it has ambi mag release buttons. Stupid lefties 🤣

Straight from the manufacturer. Most every question is answered in this video.

Feel free to ask anything else you might be curious about if it's not in the video. I'll be happy to answer if I can 🙂

Does JP wanna sponsor me?  😎

The new ones have the new and improved disconnector spring that gets mangled or broken in the old triggers. I have two of the older Eclipse and Hiperfire sent me two new disconnector springs to replace the old ones.

I didn’t feel any significant difference other than having the peace of mind of knowing the disco spring won’t break during a match or two 😆.

I also just got a new disco as my first ECL was the old style. I’d say that added zero felt difference with the new disco and spring rebuild kit in it.

That 150gr  syntec is like 3gr of super fast powder designed for Production/Carry Optics  870FPS 4.5-5 " barrel (130.5 PF) ... when I tested it in a 16" MPX it only did 960FPS (90 FPS gain), most factory ammo gains 185-225 +FPS in the 16" barrel.

I have been running MPX's since the start of PCC in 2016.  give it the correct ammo ( correct burn rate to generate gas, no coated bullets), maintain the gas plug expansion chamber and the extractor( insert spring & O ring) and they run soft fast and flat like an Open gun with a stock..

I have 4 paired up 2 for major / travel matches that rotate every other match as primary and backup ( originally Gen 2's re-barreled to PCC's last year). 2 for locals run one primary other is a back up ( one originally Gen 2 re-barreled to PCC last year) other one was bought as a PCC.

Thanks for the input.  I appreciate any info to be gained about the platform.   Did you shoot A2?   I would have loved to run into you if so..

  10. I've had issues.  My MPX malf'ed yesterday which cost me a local club match win.  it was a pcc match too.  I'd say 150gr federal syntec ammo is the incorrect ammo for a MPX.  They're gas guns and 150gr ammo doesnt make much gas...

regardless, ive had good luck with my MPX', but I've had issues too, like all PCCs.  I have 3 MPXs tho.  1 practice gun, 1 match gun, 1 match backup gun.

    • understand that gas port erosion is a issue, starts to effect gas system  reliability at around 10,000-15,000 rounds, you can drop down to a .0520 restricted gas plug and keep going, and then down to a .0469 and keep going some more.

Care to elaborate more as I don’t understand restricted gas plugs for the MPX. What exactly does it do?  I have 50-60k thru one of my MPXs and has the original gas plug..
