  1. Federals work fine in my 35 with all sorts of loads. Is the breach face smooth?
  2. I tried 3.5 TG with 180s and it just runs a stock 35. Felt way too slugish to me. Will likely feel nothing like your isssued loads. Probably a good place to start your load work up though. I think I ended up around 3.8 for my "minor" loads just for feel, to use up the 180s.

pbosik, what area is going to be a problem with a R.O.?

    Mag lube?

Never seen a dry silicone spray. More info? I use silicone as a holster lube and will try it on the mags if I ever have one apart again.

It's the SR loop. Sounds like a gun specific problem. The good news is that a few shims should do the trick. I found some plastic washers to use as shims. 2 up front, 1 in the back and none on the bottom moves and tilts the holster almost enough. I'll need to find a longer screw if I need to move it out anymore. I'll do dryfire tonight and will know then. Well made and designed holster. The mounting method they use allows the holster to be moved without modification. I'm think I'm going to be very happy with this one! Thanks guy. Kevin

Thanks Vlad. I really didn't expect this problem. Offsetting a holster would seem to allow plenty of room but not so with this one. Does it cause you any problems with the Glock?

    Blade-tech DOH

Just got my Dropped and Offset holster for my G-35 today. Looks and feels like a great holster, but there isn't room for my thumb between the slide and DOH atachment. I do have rather large hands. I can get it in there, but to draw quickly I pretty much have to leave my thumb up and out and not finish my grip until I clear kydex. Is this normal? Do I use it like this and get used to it or shim it to make some room. With my hands at side I can scoop the grip on the way up and all is well. From the surrender position is where I try to put thumb down and along the slide and run out of room. I shoot Action Pistol so I have to come down on the grip. I did a search but I might have missed something. I'm curious to hear what everyone is doing. The DOH seems to be a popular holster around here. Thanks, Kevin
  8. I shot 5k or so jacketed through the factory barrel without incedent. Unlike the others here, Precision bullets wouldn't work for me. Too much leading. Aftermarket barrel eventually solved that. The U die may not help in any way, but I sure feel better using one. Reduces the chances of set-back close to nil in my opinion.
  9. Seems like Brian said somewhere to focus on relaxing the abdominal muscules to relax the entire body and mind. I don't remember the context, but I think was in the book. Anyway, after LMR I exhale and focus on the feeling of relaxing the gut and pretty much keep a empty mind 'till the shooting over. Kevin
  10. I have 6 mags for my Glock 35. Haven't cleaned one in 15,000 rounds. Only feed problems I have had have been my reloads. Crimp die backed out once. All mags get dropped. Only started using Arrendondo extentions a few months ago. This is with Bar-sto barrel and stainless guide rod with 15lbs spring. Shoot more minor than major ammo with no problems. Guess I'm just lucky. Maybe I will clean some mags this spring. Kevin
  11. I was in the zone for exactly 6.49 seconds in Sundays AP match. 6 plates at 25yds with a 9sec par time and virginia count from surrender position. Previous run was bad, missed 3 of 6 from trying too hard. Stood there with my eyes closed for a minute or so while 3 other shooters shot. Not thinking or feeling, just listening. I was already down 9 plates so it didn't matter much. My turn, buzzer went off and I just watched the sight bounce and go to the plates as the gun fired. Hit 6 of 6 plates in 6.49sec with 2.51sec left with no effort or trying or pushing or anything other than just letting it happen. This has happened plenty before, but it always suprises me.
  12. I've heard that Unique works very well with lead bullets. Anyone care to explain why? I have a lb. that I'm going to try in .38 and .40 with lead.
  13. I use both eyes open as long as I'm relaxed. I think both are always open when shooting at speed. As soon as I start trying I start squinting. If I'm really relaxed and just shooting then long range accuracy if fine with both eyes open. But I usually try a little more on the long shots and my weak eye will nearly close. It doesn't help me any and I still do it. Kinda reminds me of flinching.

    Timing A S&w

I know I should probably send it back. Talking with my wifes cousin last week and he had sent a Model 41 back through a dealer. Dealer recieved the gun and the rear sight was missing and barrel was gouged. Dealer returned the gun again and Smith replaced sight and barrel. All is well. Only took 3 months. This was recent. I will take my chances on ruining a part rather than pay shipping and waiting for who knows how long to maybe get the gun fixed. If it didn't work at all, I would return it. I'm thinking Bountyhunter is right and the gun will wear-in and be OK. Or I will learn enough to fix it by then. But now it shoots so I will use it. I have a Pact timer I've needed to return for a year now. It works for the most part so I keep using it. Guess I just don't trust anyone's customer service much. Thanks to everyone for the advice and answers. I am starting to understand how the revolver operates. Now if I can only learn to shoot one. They are just so much fun. Opposite end of the spectrum from the Glock I've been shooting the last 2 years.

    Timing A S&w

Don't want to send the gun back to factory. Heard too many horor stories. I think I'll try this one myself with a little help from the experts here. I thought of thining the hand and even tried. Man is that some hard metal. So I took a file to the ratchet which is softer and that helped. I still feel the drag as the hand goes by the knobs on the ratchet but it isn't binding like it was. You are probably right about it going loose with more shooting. I put about 200 rounds through it today after working on it. I think I can live with it the way it is for a while to let it wear in and go from there. Thanks for the info on when the cylinder should lock in relation to hammer fall. That makes me feel better. One less thing in life to worry about! Kevin
  16. Got a new Model 10-14 from my wife for Christmas. DA trigger wasn't tolerable. Trigger pull got very rough and hard just as cylinder locked up. Used Patrick Sweeneys book to clean the trigger up. Lightly stoned and polished where the book said, still using factory springs. With cylinder open and release held back the trigger feels very smooth now. With the cylinder closed I can still feel some drag after the cylinder bolt locks and before the hammer falls. The hand was binding between the slot in the frame and the teeth or knobs on the rachet. I filled some on the teeth and it cut down on the drag drastically. Now the questions. How far should I file the teeth on the rachet down? The hand seems to be pushing the cylinder againts the cylinder bolt after it locks up and the pressure releases as the hammer falls and I can see the cylinder rotating back to its rest position. This only happens in DA mode. SA is fine as the hand cams back away from the rachet at the top of its travel. There is also a very noticable amount of hammer travel after the bolt locks the cylinder. I have a hard time detecting this travel on other S&W revolvers, but you just can't miss it on this model 10. Feels like a very heavy Glock trigger with a 5lb connector. Is this OK? Does the hand need shortened? Not sure what to do if anything. Hope to hear some ideas. I'm new to revolvers but learning. Thanks. Kevin
  17. I might have to check out the radiused shellplates. All of mine are from the mid 90's from my Projector. More dremel work I suppose.
  18. Anyone else having problems with the ejector wire for the loaded rounds? I think it needs a complete redesign. I can load .40 with 180gr and have no problems. If I swith to 135gr bullets the case will sometimes tilt and bind rather than slide out. When loading 9mm and 125gr bullets most of the rounds will not eject. I have been manually pulling each out as the ram comes down rather than waiting for it to bind and jam against the ejector wire. I'm thinking the heavier bullets resist tilting and slide out easier. I've dremeled my shellplates to smooth things up, but it hasn't helped. I just switched over to start loading 9mm again and cleaned the entire press. At least 3 out of the first 5 jammed up. I tried running the shellplate and base dry and with Silicone spray. Neither seems to work. I removed the ejector and polished it with a dremel. No help either. I could call Hornady and complain and probably get a new bent piece of wire, but I want a real ejection system that just works. I need to load another 5,000 rounds of 9mm soon and want to get this fixed. Looking for advice or suggestion. I've got the case feeder and it really helps. The last 100 rounds I loaded yesterday took just under 8 min. and I was manually pulling each case out. Not really looking to get faster, I just want the cases to eject to save me the motion. Kevin

    I Finaly Got A Grip

Just wait untill you use it with sweaty hands or in the rain. Tru-Grip and new sights are the only required mods on a Glock.
  20. Flex, thanks for bumping this. I had somehow missed this the first time around. Now I gotta have one. Hope Clay does something before I start destroying parts. I'm OK with my trigger as is, but would really like to take the slop out of it. I think his bushings could really step the Glock trigger up a notch.
  21. Come on Kevin. I want to see you shoot action with your steel gun! I vote for one gun on all three. Partly because I only use one, but mostly just to see Kevin squirm!
  22. Good job overall Kevin. Hated to hear about the shoot-off. You can't win em all. Will you be at Bedford for the match? I'm lost on the rule changes for next year. Maybe someone that knows would be willing to start a new thread about the 2007 rules. Please! Rules for us lowly metallic shotters too if you know anything. Thanks, Kevin
  23. Travis, we all know how good you are under pressure on the plates! I saw your scores at the Cup. Figured that was you. Great job Kevin. So are you going to do better next year? What about the Shoot-Off? Are you in? Thanks for keeping us posted. Kevin Lee Hey Martin, I like that idea about the 8 on the plates. I could really use that rule. Who do we talk to?
  24. I think Kevin would remember to shift the mover base in his sleep. Not sure where but it was recently, he looked at me kinda stupid and said he went to switch the base and it was already over. He was thinking he might have forgotten it on the last pass, but had just switched it without even realizing it. Guess he's done it a few times. The race looks tight down there. I've never seen so many 480s. I think I might be shaking like Leroy under that pressure. Don't guess there's any need for me to worry about that though. Kevin
  25. Well I'm no cheerleader, but I'll admit being a club member. Kevin, you're doing good in rough conditions. Just chill out and shoot. We all know you can do it. Kevin
