I have been told that a Ruger Mk II will fit in the Ghost and Safariland 012. I have a Speedsec for my S&W revolvers and like the design but have no idea if the Ruger will fit the 1911 version of the Speedsec like it does the Ghost and Safariland. Any one own a Ruger Mk II or better yet a MkIII try to use it with a Speedsec 1911 holster. If not, I can just get the Ghost. This will be used for NRA Action Pistol. Thanks for the help. Kevin

I wanted the best for my G-35, so I bought a Bar-Sto. Seems like it was $50 more than the KKM and was available oversized to be fitted. It shot just great with plated or jacketed bullets, but still leaded with cast or "black" bullets. There was less lead than in my factory barrel and it still shot OK for a couple hundred rounds between cleanings. I finally got around to some reading/research and slugged the barrel. I found the problem. The throat area was tighter than hell and then opened up. A very bad thing when using lead bullets. I had been using the barrel for a year at this point so I didn't bother contacting Bar-Sto. So I fire lapped the barrel with a kit from Beartooth bullets. It was a lot of work that I wouldn't want to repeat. I used 100 lapping bullets and the contriction is almost completly gone, but the throat is now very long. Not exactly what I wanted, but it shoots great with everything now and I can shoot the "black" bullets for months and not loose any accuracy. I can shoot plain cast bullets with minimal lead streaking that doesn't seem to get much worse after a few rounds. I feel this is how the barrel should have performed when I got it. I shouldn't have to lap a $200 barrel. So, my suggestion is buy something other than Bar-Sto. If I had to buy another barrel now I have no idea what I would get, but I know what I wouldn't buy. I probably got the one dud barrel Bar-Sto made that year and should just keep my mouth shut. Sorry for the rant. Kevin

My Dad has the Hughes Sat deal. He hates it. I think he said the limit is 200MB in 24hr then you dropped back to dial-up speed for the rest of the day. I have cable internet and he loves downloading at my place.

HSMITH nailed it. Especially about the heat. TG does heat a gun up quick. Clays is my choice anywhere I can use it!

With my G35 and a well worn 15lb spring, I can move my hand fast or drop my elbow on my knee with the muzzle pointed up and I can bring the gun well out of lock up, but I'm a long way from chambering a round. With my G19 and a new spring I don't think I can get any movement at all. I'm sure it can be done somehow, but it wouldn't be easy. I'll try my buddy's G20. That thing has a heavy slide and could work. Glad you are safe! Kevin

OK tightloop, I think the apple vs. orange thing is part of the problem here. What you call "suppervised discharge" is probably what most of us are doing. I, and probably most of the other here surely didn't hand our preschoolers a .22 and a brick of ammo and say don't shoot the cat. My son just loves to do anything I do. For this brief time in his life I am actually a hero. I plan on enjoying it while it lasts. I also let my son steer the car when I'm moving it in the driveway and let him drive the mower around the house to park it. I'm right there with him and he is perfectly safe, but to him he is driving and mowing. And at the range he gets to shoot. I'm much more worried about the things I cant supervise as well. Childproof locks, medicine caps, wall outlet protectors and the such are worthless on a 4 year old. I generally do stay out of front of people with loaded weapons, but when an E-6 tank commander is told to clear a weopon it should be cleared. Just climbing out the drivers hatch of an M1 puts you in front of the muzzle of the .50 and possible 2 M-240s. Not my fault the TC was an idiot. I did get lucky and only lost a little hearing. The other times I probably should have checked to make sure someone else's weapon was clear and not taken their word on it. At a match, the chamber is always verified by someone and the gun is holstered. We stay pretty safe. I don't see people do that when practicing at the range. Should I? I mean no disrespect to you whatsoever and appoligize if I sound that way. I have stong feelings about gun safety. I even make sure my son points his "toy guns" in a safe direction and take them if he points them at someone. He gets DQed for the day! Thanks to all for the opinions. Kevin

Hate that you had so many problems with the LNL. Mine has been great other than the loaded round ejector, and there is just no excuse for that blame piece of bent wire. The hornady is a good machine, but I think the Dillons are a little more refined and probably take less work to get running smoothly. If you keep that LNL and need any help getting it set up let us know. I think there is a grand total of about 6 LNL users around here. Good luck. Kevin

Guess there are a lot of us clueless parents around here. My son fired his first shot just before he turned 4 which seems to fit in pretty well with some of the others. No reason us 30 somethings can't teach safe gun handling as well or better than our parents and grandparents. My second son is only 5 months, so I'll give him a little more time. I've had 3 loaded weapons(2 handguns and a M2 .50cal) pointed at me that were accidentaly discharged in my general direction due to unsafe gun handling. Two were combat vets and the other a 50 year old who had used long guns all his life but not handguns. I find it much easier to teach safety to and control a 4 year old with a gun than an adult that alread knows it all. Never seen any problems from a new adult shooter either. I think they still have enough fear of a weapon to respect it's leathality. Kevin

I just learned to keep my nails cut pretty short. Eric's Tru-grip is great stuff. Really keeps the strong hand planted in place. But in the rain or when sweaty, the week hand will slip a little and nails dig into the weak hand palm. It doesn't bother the palm for me, but feels like the nail is getting bent back. Anyway, not a problem when they are short. I feel sorry for the women with longer nails. I don't know how they do it.

Guess I'm just visually slow. I've tried and I can't see a hammer drop when someone else if firing. I shoot a Glock, so I don't have much practice at such things. I do see the front sight rise and see it stop as it returns. And it is all much easier at speed than when shooting groups. I've seen the slide move and noticed the brass taking different paths. But I'll have to try to see that hammer.

Mine's been wet several times in the last 18 months and it's still holding on. It's worn out and looks rough, but only has one corner starting to loosen up. I never notice how much it's worn till a buddy brings out his G20 which has like new grip tape on it. This stuff just keeps working. I really need to order more. I think I got my money's worth out of this one about a year ago. Maybe I shouldn't have given the other 2 away?

I've ordered through Brian and never bothered to look at Dillon's site.

I can't really offer any help, but I look forward to the responses. Need to do some testing of my own. I did have pretty good luck, accuracy out of the 155 Precisions for minor. Seems like I was using 4.2 or 4.3 of TG for a PF around 145. Thanks, you put me back in testing mode.

Thanks shred. Muzzle blast is a big problem. I never shoot closer than 15ft and don't have a problem.

I have a Bar-sto in my G35. It will feed perfect with everything but SWC. I have a box of 175SWC that I can't get to run at any OAL. I always use a minimal crimp and it works fine even in the tight chamber. Maybe the .410 crimp will work. I don't like to crimp that much, but I might try it.

I'm with the Monster on this one. Doesn't matter how much take-up there is, I only use it on the first shot anyway. I do like the short reset from having the overtravel removed.

If I could manage a mediocre 441 on the barricade I would be right there with you. Great job. Now to get those last 44 points to make Master. Hope to see you there! I respect anyone that can put a good score in metallic. Kevin

Sweet's 7.62 is stronger, but Hoppes benchrest works fine. I've used and like both. Don't expect to scrub the copper out with a brush. Clean the powder residue out then let the copper solvent soak for a few min to disolve copper. Lots of opinions out there, but I don't leave copper solvent in more than 15 or so.

I'm with moose on this one. Same procedure and results. So I gave the Crony away. Anytime I've gotten results way out of the expected range it turned out to be a lighting problem.

I use a kinetic puller and hit it against the end of a hammer handle. The end grain on a hard wood hammer handle is pretty tough but doesn't destroy the puller. Never did hundreds at once though. I would shoot it or sell it. Good luck.
