  1. I ran into the same issue with my SV grip. There appears to be a lot of difference in manufacturing specs of different grip manufacturers. My buddy sent me a video showing how to modify the insert and now mine works perfectly.

  2. I had a hell of a time figuring this out myself..I had 10K extreme .40 180 grains on hand and they would not safely make PF with my new barrel. I finally figured out that I needed a .401 diameter bullet and now I make PF without and pressure signs. The process sucked but I learned a lot along the way.

  3. Jumping in on this thread.  How many of you have had pistols built from LSI?

just curious how their custom work is, not just tuning existing pistols.

I bought my first and only custom 2011 from Glenn and was blown away with the quality of his work. Slide to frame fit is incredible and his finish work is awesome as well. The gun runs like it robbed a jewelry store and is super accurate. I recall that he was a machinist for many years and it shows in his work.

I hadn't considered the Aftec.  They have a lot of favorable reviews on Dawson Precision's store page.  Would you also replace the firing pin stop or just modify the existing one?

It's $85 but I will certainly consider it.  I didn't know Todd Jarret is using one.  That's a big testimonial.

I just used the existing one but had to radius the corners to make it work. The instructions lay it all out pretty well. Good luck!

  5. Just buy an Aftec and call it a day. I have never been a fan of having to deal with tuning an extractor from time to time and I don't want to deal with it failing in a match. You will have to modify the firing pin stop so the after will pivot correctly. I installed one on my 2011 build and it ran perfectly without any modifications.

Lucas oil outdoor extreme has been working well for me this summer. It's somewhere between oil and grease. If it works through the winter I'm keeping it. The little bottle with the needle applicator is enough for a loooong time

CLP doesn't stay put, frog lube is expensive and became sticky after sitting in the gun, grease didn't work in the cold...

Same here. I have been using the lucas extreme for the entire summer and it works great! It is one of the few lubes I have used that does not burn off when you run your gun hard for a day.

  7. I recommend never to mix/match spring and follower companies.  Or Baseplates, if you can help it, but that's less of an issue.  It isn't unreasonable to replace your followers once a year or so, but they need replaced far less often than springs.

  8. I recently upgraded my 2011 to a steel grip and had to perform some modifications to the ejector to fix some feeding issues. I think I have everything worked out at this point but it got me thinking about bullets feed angle. Would it be possible to tune mags to feed directly into the barrel without impacting the feed ramp?
