Yes I got a used 1050 from a friend and I tore it completely down to service it,after I got it all back together I didn’t like the the front pin was dragging so tapped on and on and never was happy with it. Called Dillon and got another pin took the head off and took it to a machine and they pressed the old one out and pressed the new one end problem solved. The issue with bent pins is you need to have the head all the down when removing or tighten the bolt that holds the head on.

It also helps when you do have a bent pin. throw some dykem on the pin to see where to pin in bent. Knowing where the pin is bent makes it a ton easier to knock it back into place.

The shell plate tips a bit if not completely loaded - and that can affect OAL.

You don't need longer runs - I load  loaded cartridges where they should be

    (in stations 3 & 4 in my SDB - I don't know how many you need in a 1050)

and put empty cases every where else - then crank a few out - should be

    a lot better.

BUT, a longer run is okay also   :)

And...I might add that you want to make sure you are seating primers just flush of the case (after all your adjustments). I ran into this problem and thought it was a seating depth problem but found it was due to primer seating depth.

Really no difference in the pull and geometry. The main difference is lighter hammers have faster lock time but possibly need heavier main spring to ensure proper primer ignition. Not always, but depends on primer. Also, the Koenig hammer makes an odd “tuning fork” ringing sound when dropped. The others don’t.

I noticed the tuning fork effect as well but I later fit a new firing pin stop and that seemed to reduce the noise quite a bit. The old FP stop was pretty loose.

  4. Funny timing on this thread. I bought the prizm 22's and found they let too much light through on bright days. I ended up doing some research and found the deep blue prizm lens actually filters out the most light. The FO is hard to miss with these lenses and they are super clear. Highly recommended.

No problem, I’m just really looking to learn about the nitty gritty details. Is loading long a preference thing? How does is affect the performance of the ammo?

The rumor around the water cooler is that the original 1911 in .45 was designed around a round length of 1.245 so folks load long to reduce the likelihood of feeding issues with other calibers. I like to load 9mm at 1.125 and .40 at 1.2 and make sure my extractors are tuned properly and I don't have any feeding issues.

Is Brazos the only kit that comes with the angles cut? None of the other kits out there seem to make this claim

I can confirm the EGW kit does not have the secondary angle cut. Honestly, I have spent a lot of time, money and energy trying to replicate the Brazos kit and have come very close but it's not a perfect match. I can't recommend his kit enough.

It's actually not all that new. Couple years old but I thought it might break in with a few hundred rounds. Anyways, just started shooting it again and decided to start looking into the issues it was having.

I could contact Kimber. Do you know if they will ream chambers longer?

How long can you load with the barrel? Are you loading with lead bullets?
