Stage planning was the biggest thing for me. Ya gotta know when and where to reload.

The deep water blue lenses have been excellent for bright light and they make FO red really stand out.

I ordered some brass rod and a handle from amazon and but it together for about $8.

Check these guys out. They can size to .400 https://www.ibejiheads.com

Take a look at the front of the slide. This should help. https://www.shootersconnectionstore.com/STI-Slide-5-938-Unique-Bald-P819.aspx

I use the Aftec in my limited rig but recently installed the practical extractor in a .40 1911 with a tightly fitted FP stop and it functions perfectly. They say the practical ex is rated at 70,000 cycles. For an open rig, I would probably look at the HD version due to the extra meat.

The shell plate tips a bit if not completely loaded - and that can affect OAL.
You don't need longer runs - I load loaded cartridges where they should be
(in stations 3 & 4 in my SDB - I don't know how many you need in a 1050)
and put empty cases every where else - then crank a few out - should be
a lot better.
BUT, a longer run is okay also
And...I might add that you want to make sure you are seating primers just flush of the case (after all your adjustments). I ran into this problem and thought it was a seating depth problem but found it was due to primer seating depth.

Does that part come with the caliber conversion? If it did that i have it somewhere. If it doesnt, then I can stop looking and order one.
pretty sure it does not.

Really no difference in the pull and geometry. The main difference is lighter hammers have faster lock time but possibly need heavier main spring to ensure proper primer ignition. Not always, but depends on primer. Also, the Koenig hammer makes an odd “tuning fork” ringing sound when dropped. The others don’t.
I noticed the tuning fork effect as well but I later fit a new firing pin stop and that seemed to reduce the noise quite a bit. The old FP stop was pretty loose.

Funny timing on this thread. I bought the prizm 22's and found they let too much light through on bright days. I ended up doing some research and found the deep blue prizm lens actually filters out the most light. The FO is hard to miss with these lenses and they are super clear. Highly recommended.

No problem, I’m just really looking to learn about the nitty gritty details. Is loading long a preference thing? How does is affect the performance of the ammo?
The rumor around the water cooler is that the original 1911 in .45 was designed around a round length of 1.245 so folks load long to reduce the likelihood of feeding issues with other calibers. I like to load 9mm at 1.125 and .40 at 1.2 and make sure my extractors are tuned properly and I don't have any feeding issues.

Check out middle branch machine but I recommend having them polish the barrel prior to coating. They are inexpensive, responsive and do nice work.

9 - Wilson ETMs
.40 - Tripp 10 rounders (they seat sweet)
.45 - Wilson 47D’s with 5/8” basepads
IMOIf you want to load long for 9mm, the get the 38 super mags from tripp and the 10MM tripp mags if you shoot 40.

What type of frame mod are you looking for?

For base pads I just used a drill bit to add a shallow, single dot on mag one, two dots on mag 2, etc. Works good and it is cheap.

Is Brazos the only kit that comes with the angles cut? None of the other kits out there seem to make this claim
I can confirm the EGW kit does not have the secondary angle cut. Honestly, I have spent a lot of time, money and energy trying to replicate the Brazos kit and have come very close but it's not a perfect match. I can't recommend his kit enough.

It's actually not all that new. Couple years old but I thought it might break in with a few hundred rounds. Anyways, just started shooting it again and decided to start looking into the issues it was having.
I could contact Kimber. Do you know if they will ream chambers longer?

How long can you load with the barrel? Are you loading with lead bullets?

I'm a fan of nice guns and watches too!

What does the blue plastic tip look like? Chewed up?

It also helps when you do have a bent pin. throw some dykem on the pin to see where to pin in bent. Knowing where the pin is bent makes it a ton easier to knock it back into place.
