  1. The TS short from UB fit Czechmate. It's kind of silly that no US shop carries these grips - they are the best.
  2. I agree, blue looks tackier than the red, but I like blue Thanks to jon49erfan, got links to CZ UB store to get the magwell, grips, and trigger. Luckily all of these come with the necessary screws! Shipping was 50 euro but man, arrived in 5 days! Faster than CZ USA, and this came from Brno via Germany and Cincinnati. Pretty straightforward - the new mag well just slides in and a simple screw holds it in place. The only thing that I struggled with a bit is the trigger pin. The aluminum trigger holes are a little smaller than the pin, and I accidentally ended up bending one arm of the trigger. Straightened it out, widened the holes slightly with a starter, and I was done. I missed having the CGW floating pin - that makes the job so much easier. So if I get tired of the tacky blue and decide to go Red, it will be easier. I cannot say enough good words about the grips! Wow! These are infinitely better than rubber or the hybrid surface (grip surface + smooth) aluminum grips, now that I have tried all three. These give my hands the perfect grip - have enough checkering but not aggressive like the golf ball style. Pistol stays immobile in my hands. Loving it! Thanks for your help jon49erfan!
  3. Lol +1 without a doubt. My FFL got a TS when I was picking up my second CM. He handled and dry fired it first, then I did. And we both simultaneously said - CM is just a different gun!
  4. Agreed. I will get used to it, but it's surreal how tight the clearance is.
  5. It's a reverse plug - spring tension holds it in place.
  6. About 1500 rounds so far And how! Absolutely flawless. I went through 800 rounds after the initial cleaning. Then I started shooting some nasty commercial reloads which left plenty of undesirable residue. The gun was fine but I have started cleaning every 250 rounds until I use up the commercial reload bought during the 9 mm crisis not too long ago. If anybody has ideas on how to relieve the reverse plug please help. My gut says I have to relieve either the guide rod or the small opening on the reverse plug, and perhaps also touch up the rear facing bigger opening of the reverse plug.
  7. Figured it out a bit. Still a small mystery but at least I know what's happening. The issue is with recoil spring binding in the reverse plug. Somehow the tolerances are so tight with the reverse plug that a very minor offset in the barrel front nut causes factory recoil spring to bind when racking or re-installing slide. I am using the rounded 0.94 mm recoil spring that came installed on the CM. Might be an edge I need to relieve somewhere but at least I know how to get it working reliably every time. Any thoughts on which surface to relieve?
  8. Just a few drops of oil to keep the threads lubed. How sensitive is the positioning of the front plug? I tapped it counter clockwise a little to get it going.
  9. When I did my third field strip and reassembled the CM, the slide would not fully go back on the frame during reassembly. While I had threaded the front end carefully and fully, perhaps it was a tad off. I turned it slightly by tapping with the rubber end of a hammer and it worked. This made me wonder - What do folks do for every field strip? Do you unthread and remove the front plug? Seems like it has to be put back in perfect alignment. I am not sure I have done it perfectly even though it feels adequate. What have you experienced? Thoughts?

  11. I have ordered a DAA thumb rest to try out on the Czechmate in limited config. For those that don't use a thumb rest - what do you do with the 3 frame holes? Plug them with something or leave them open (two open into frame).

Why made - DAA muzzle support is just 20 dollars?

I also added muzzle support, feels great. While technically you don't need the muzzle support, it provides additional safety by preventing any muzzle movement upwards (eg muzzle hits side of leg or another object while sitting or standing) - minimizing any chance of gun getting loose. I also had my LGS then cut off about 2 inches from the muzzle support rod after fitting, and he smooth ended out the cut surface. Wow! Love it.

    Czechmate twins

Here are my CM twins. The limited 10 version needed some work to suit me. Installed Kensight adjustable, and LGS widened the rear sight aperture to match the CZ stock - I like it like this. Fiber front - 6.5 mm P09 - must say these from CZCustom are a little tighter than those directly from Dawson. Then a bad surprise with the grips. CZ had put some really nasty metal adhesive in the grip screws - this was worse than red loctite. Despite heating, I managed to get one screw out but damaged the other on. A few nervous minutes at my LGS and he managed to drill out the screw in 3 parts but saved the frame thank goodness. I love the stock rubber so LGS trimmed the full length rubber grips to fit. About the only other mod ion order for this gun is the DAA thumb rest. Want to give that a try. Now the pair makes my day!
  16. I now have a pair of Czechmates - one open and one limited. I like to keep some spare parts on hand. Does anybody know where I can find a complete orderable part list (with CZ part numbers) for the Czechmate? Cz-USA does not have a section for Czechmate. I tried calling a few times, could not get through except to voicemail. Email to the parts department bounced. I am primarily interested in things like springs, any pins that wear, including firing pin, sear.

    Help - Czechmate sights

Jon49erfan, thanks again for your help. I played with various sight combinations today and confirmed that the fixed stock rear with Dawson 0.205 is the best! I will post a pic of my Czechmate twins - one open and one limited. I ordered a DAA thumb rest for the limited version, sounds pretty cool.

I have the DAA Race Master magnetic action. Missed the video but hacked my way through the SP01 block with a file to make it fit. Works great! Got a spare SP01 block as back up.

    Help - Czechmate sights

Thanks!! In some ways easy to figure out what parts I need - the ones that are out of stock at Dawson, CZCustom or CZUSA.. Lol

    Help - Czechmate sights

Thanks a bunch! One last question - the thumb safety looks awesome - where did you get it?
  21. Thanks Czmon! Loving the forum already! Was not sure I could use a fiber front with my Czechmate in limited config, and I got a great response (yes, with a pic) in less than a day. I was surprised Czman had not been already taken - but thanks to you now I have a German version

    Help - Czechmate sights

Wow, stunning gun! Was the FO direct from Dawson? I see CZCustom offering these as well but the sizes are indicated as 6.5 mm, 7.0 mm etc - which are greater than 0.205 inch. I know there is a difference in measurement (from bottom vs slide) - which one might be right? Thanks again for your help and a great visual treat of your Czechmate!
  23. Lol for real? May be I should compete in Canada if I am allowed to travel with my Czechmate
