  1. Local shop has two in 24 and 28in VR, for 500$. I got an old savage im going to throw at them for a trade in.

I checked over for the black Friday deals, dicks is like 40$ off 400-600$ guns and cabelas has nothing good but I have some gift cards. Again 499$ for the cost, so is it worth it to drive 100 miles to cabelas to buy it? prob not. I might try and see if I can have dicks order one so they have it in stock on black Friday.

Go for it, you won't be disappointed. If you plan to run it in 3 gun with a 12 round tube, then barrel length won't really matter. I run my M1 with a 28" barrel and 12 round tube.

  3. Benelli M1 or M2. I have had the stoeger, Versamax, Remington 1100 and the Mossberg. The Benelli is most reliable, stays pretty clean and the recoil difference is minor. The Benelli will also run pretty much any load you put through it. Not a fanboy, just been down this road already.

  4. It is a window motor driving a gear that the reset arm is attached to,

On the larger one I used a Chevy flex plate for the "gear".

The photo above is "transport" position, I cut the power when the reset arm is at TDC. That keeps the plates from being able to pinch fingers. Normally power is cut when it is BDC, so the arm is all the way down before power is cut, by the switch at the bottom.

When the last plate falls it hits a momentary switch (closing it) powering the motor off the open lower switch, then it makes another completes a revolution before opening the bottom switch and stopping again.

  5. I make mine with the plate quite a bit higher that the pivot point. Makes them less sensitive to shot placement, even a low hit with a .22 LR at 200 yards will knock down an 8" 3/8 thick plate, and there is less stress on the hinge (the part that fails on most racks).

Mine also reset using old power window motors automatically when the last plate falls.

That's awesome! Care to provide details on the window motor set up?
