  1. I use 115 FMJ from RMR in my MPX.  4.0 gr of AA2.  1.10 OL.  Soft shooting and reliable.  Most of the poly coated bullets I've tried need to have a really short OL.  The profile is fatter at the tip of the bullet and sticks in the lands of the MPX.  If you have N320 I would start at 3.9gr.  4.5 gr is a max load for N320.   Use the 115 gr Everglade and keep the OL to 1.10.

  2. I have a MPX I've been running poly coated bullets in for the last year.  124 gr Bayou and Blue Bullets.  I have no issues other than you need to make the overlength short so the bullet won't touch the lands in the barrel.  1.10 ol.  I find that 124 or 115 factory ball which is longer has no issues.  Remington 115gr ball is 1.125 ol.

  3. I had a VP9 and I have both polymer and steel framed Q5's.  In my opinion the trigger is much better out of the box in the Walther pistols.  As for recoil it's not a fair comparison.  The Q5SF is much heavier than the VP9L.  So, the felt recoil is much less.  If cost is not an issue, then I would choose the Q5SF.

  4. I sent an MPX barrel manufactured in 2016 to have the port opened to In Lead we Trust.  It was having some issues cycling power factor loads.  Rob polished the chamber, feed ramp and opened up the port.  Received it and shipped it back the same day he received the barrel.  Now the gun runs like a top.  I am very impressed with the service.

  5. Does anyone know what the Q5 SF's standard factory spring weight is?  I picked one up recently.  It cycles with factory ball without a hitch.  I would like to use my reloads which are 130PF.  It does not always eject the case with the reloads.  I'm thinking of getting a 15-pound spring.

You have to remember, these kits are made to go on a 1911 frame, that most likely fired 45acp. You still have the original hammer spring in the frame, that could be anywhere from 15lb-23lb in weight. That diminutive little 22LR has to overcome the inertia of pushing that hammer back on recoil. That is why most only function reliably with HV 22's.

Now a dedicated 22 pistol will be much different, with a much lighter hammer spring. So cheap, standard velocity, and bulk ammo will most likely work in those guns.

And btw, that Kimber conversion kit is highly accurate with CCI minimags. I can easily hit small 3"-4" plates at 25 yds. And have won several 22 action pistol matches with it.

What weight mainspring are you using?

  7. Recently got a Kimber .22 conversion kit.  I have tried the Federal Champion Bulk pack and it is does not always cycle.  I also have tried the Winchester M22 and that seems to cycle fine.  Interesting that the Federal is rated for 1200fps and the Winchester is rated for 1255fps.  Due to the limited availability of ammunition I was wondering what others have used successfully in their Kimber .22 1911's.

Best available imports are the Bulgarian models sold by Arsenal.  But, like anything gun-related these days, they're few and far between.  So, if you do find a decent one, expect to pay top dollar.  For domestic sources, there's Rifle Dynamics, Krebs and Kalishnikov USA.

I'll have to say I own an arsenal with a milled received and the quality is top notch.

Les,  I will report back when I get to 1000 rounds.

Just an update.  I too fell victim to the 1000 round failure to eject.  I contacted CMMG.  They replaced the entire Bolt carrier assembly.  Now the Rifle runs like a champ!
