Personally, I like the 1 pellet deal. However, that 1 pellot, at 1000fps, needs to make a hole, not a chip. Nobody's got any business putting up a clay that already has a hole in it.
You understand what I mean: a hole?
Maybe I'd better rephrase that: chippies shouldn't be allowed in this sport.

Springy, I don't want to sound unkind here, but why would you even care about this particular topic?
I am 1/2 of a team that is very devoted to USPSA revolver.
I was at the '10 Memphis running a camera, the '11 Memphis in L-10, and signed up for SS this year (right after we finish the Indiana Factory Gun match), and am not eligible for anything except grabbing the teams moons before someone steps on them.
I build all the guns, do all the upgrades and smithing on the teams wheel guns, and all the research to make them even better as information becomes available.
I load all the ammo, including some hotrod specials for the older guns.
I've probably got more time, effort, experience and knowledge than a whole lot of revo shooters, and I kinda enjoy the fact that I've never shot a stage with a wheel gun of any kind.
And to help understand even more where I'm coming from, the other half of the team (Cheryl) makes it very rewarding for me to support revolver shooting.

8 shots would rule the division. In order to be remotely competitive, it would require the purchase of an 8 shot, then make the 8 shot "smooth", and then the moons, and then the brass and loading supplies in order to switch from major 40/45 to 38.
And this is to up the participation at the Nationals?
Vegas is in the farthest remote southeastern corner of the US. Nats participation in 2011 was 21, 2012 was 17.
Sams revo only match, smack in the middle of the country, was 68 in '10, 72 in '11. And his match this year is head to head with the Steel Challenge just down the road and he has 43 signed up 2 weeks before match time.
Major matches need to be centrally located.
Next year with the Nats in Illinois will be a telling tale.
It's too bad it's in Illinois - I purposely plan my routes around Illinois when I travel.
And then there is the fact it's a 1 day match - that should be worth the extra expense and travel to attend?
OK, the rant is off.
I believe in offering a solution after complaining:
Let Sam's match be the Charity Nationals, with all the support a Nationals would get, plus the advertising a major charity event would garner.
USPSA added a 10 round limit to Limited and made Limited-10 Division, obviously the way to go is Revolver Division and Revo-8 Division.

Short answer is NO. You can only have 8 in the tube and 1 in the chamber in non open divisions. The new yet to be approved 2013 rules will do away with this stupid rule.
Why is it stupid for everyone to be limited to an 8 round tube?

Larry, I want to congratulate you on laying the "Skinny Sammie" on it's side. The resulting requirement that you have to know your zero within 1" from 75 yds out to 150 yds is going to make history. I'm thinking it's going to be amazing.
And because I'm so impressed with it, I've come up with a few names for it.
To keep the original Sammie as part of the name, how about "Lazy Sammie", or "Sleeping Sammie".
Or because it's so mean and ornery, how about "the Sidewinder".
I'm also thinking that after everyone deals with it at the match, we should have a few more possibilities at the dinner/award ceremony.

Well, I agree there were too many competitors so half of the folks that came in ahead of me need to bow out so the rest of us aren't inconvenienced with them being in the way. Heck, all the folks that beat me need to stay home.
Ok, so that was said in jest. How do you propose they cut back entries? Charge more? Provide a lesser quality match? Top 10 or 20% from last year not allowed back?(one of my favorites, hahaha) Just how do you propose to limit entries or cut back? Use the lottery superstition mountain used to reduce entries? Or the electronic sign up Ft Benning used where they received 1100 entries in the first minute of application? This match pretty well fills up along with a wait list. Fortunately it isn't as hard to get in as some others. Let's DONT ask them to cut back on entries. I've been beat before, I'll be beat again. I've waited on other squads before, I'll wait again. It's not that big a deal. I'll admit I don't enjoy watching an entire squad shoot while our squad waits. That much I'll go with you on but if watching is the price for being given the privilige of participating in a first class match, I'll pay it.
These guys are putting on a world class match, running an unbelievable number of shooters through in record time & for that, my hat is off to them!!!! I'll wait if I have to.

I'm thinking there aren't too many shooters (m1a or others) that want to drill a .040 hole lengthwise thru a NM m14 sight that is only .052 thick, and harderna brick bat.

Actually, I had sense enough to not mess with a flintlock, my first was a cap and ball 44.
Regardless what he trained with. It's tough to argue with a guy who probably saw the original episode of the Honeymooners on a round screen television.

I also got to see a Bushnell 1-8.5. WOW! Big scope, huge FOV, same reticle, massive uncovered knobs, beautiful glass.
I put Bushnell 1-8.5x into google............and smoke came out the back of the hard drive. What's up with that?

Everyone that was trained on an M14 in basic, hold up your hand.
Everyone that understood why they made you get that checkbone welded to the back of your THUMB, hold up your hand.
I am long of face, long of neck, long of arm. The position was almost natural. After 40+ years, it IS natural.
When you naturally bang that checkbone up against your thumb, the rear appature is always centered on your eye, and anywhere you point the rifle, the front sight is usually right on the target. It's a great combat sighting system.
Back to the present.
Most shooters don't have that check to thumb setup. Which means from one shooter to the next to the next (to infinity), everyone has a different distance from their eye to the rear appature. In effect, everyone is using a different sized peep because of the different distances. The further your eye is from the peep, the smaller it is in relation to the front post and the target.
Advise from 1 individual to the next is sorta meaningless, unless everyone has their eye the same distance from the rear appature.

and my personal experience:
my eye is about 2" from the rear appature. the issue peep was huge! plus the outside radius of the appature blocked out the last 2 targets plus the next 2 targets. I put up with that for about a year, and then ground down the outside radius to just under 3/16". Now the sight picture looks like someone took a pencil and drew a circle in the air, and I can see all the targets all the time. Then I drilled the peep out, threaded it, put a soft non graded machine screw in, filed it flat on both ends (flush with sight) and drilled my own peep bigger than NM, but smaller than issue. blued it. (all hand tools on the front porch) really happy with the results for about 6 years.

All I can do is pass along personal experience.
25.7 is 2900 out of an 18" barrel, shoots fairly soft, throws the brass about 5 feet (which is not necessarily the load, but a good indicator).
A couple of times I've had issues with powder weight measurement. Recheck it with someone looking over your shoulder.

55gr start load 25.0, max load 27.0
I've been loading 25.7 with Horny 55 fmj for a couple years now, in military and commercial cases, with never any problem with insertion, extraction, and no odd shapes of primers.
The Sierra rifle load manual 1985 says 25.9 max specifically for the 55 fmj.

I don't think it's the match on Saturday, it's the serious pistol practice on Wednesday getting ready for the match on Saturday that makes the difference.

It's interesting that the 3gun crowd doesn't want a bunch of rules until something goes haywire.
This is/was a local monthly type match? The RO said it was good to go, and then wants to DQ you for doing what the RO told you to do? First things first, fire the RO. Second, it's a monthly match, that's where we learn stuff. Thirdly I'm hoping the gun was abandoned with the barrel towards the ground? Fourthly, you had the safety applied, (((( I did put the saftey catch in the "on" position,)))) I'm pretty sure that all big matches (and local matches that have shooters that participate in big matches) require the gun be totally empty OR ON SAFE.

We will have MGM Recon Targets, IPSC out to 450 yards, Colt Speed steel out to 250 and Sammies out to 80 yards. I forgot about the iron sight guys last year. This eliminates the whinners from having any air time.

I shot a 308 bush rifle last year with an aimpoint at the 160yd sammies and the the 250 yard blocked colt speed steel. I thought they were good targets, but that is mostly based on the fact of being prone, off sandbags that we got to punch a few times when we staged the rifle.
I looked up the MGM recon target. The falling/resettable long range target is really good for the sport. However: there is nothing to index on for holdover. And at 450yds, there is a lot of holdover. Maybe it's just me, but I much prefer the MGM flasher. It's wide enough that you can see the flasher on both sides of the blade, and you've got the flasher to index some of your hold over.
again, maybe it's just me, but I love wine...........

Par Times in 3 gun = NO FUN. Just set a max time and be done with it.
Max time is the same thing as par time.

Deb Pankratz, our MD, has confirmed, TIME PLUS scoring for this match.
Some stages have to be adjusted, as Time Plus will not support fixed or par time. Bruce BVD
I'm thinking the timer beeps at the par time, the shooter stops, the par time plus penalties is the TIME PLUS score for the stage. I don't think the score program knows, or cares, if it's par time, it just wants the stop time plus the penalties.

Really, somehow it has to be that no "decision" is made, no arbitrary calls. You can't have the RO walk up to a clay and say that it's not broken enough. I've only shot at matches east of Nevada, and the rule has always been 1 hole and everyone was happy, and when someone tried to claim a chip, lots of shooters (not "the" shooter) were pissed.
