  1. Last night I completely disassebled the pistol, clean and check all the springs in the trigger group. I found that the trigger bar spring dont have much tension during the disassembly. The end of the trigger bar needs to engage the sear to move it, if no or less tension from the lifter spring, the trigger bar might miss the lever of the sear causing stalling of the hammer. I removed it and bend a bit upward on both sides. After cleaning and re-assembly, I tried to redo the problems by manually racking the slide:

    RESULTS:

    1. It is now resetting with a noticeable click

    2. the hammer is now falling everytime, no half cock during the action of pressing the trigger

    3. the trigger pull weight increased from 2.25 lbs to 2.75 lbs

I am not yet test it in the range but I will update this post. I believe this issue will help all newbies in CZ pistols.

  2. Friends,

Finally I was able to convert my CZ Shadow 1 from double action to single action only. I changed the following to convert it to single action:

    1. I bought a set of CZ Competition Hammer and CZ Strut

    2. New CZ TRS and CZ Trigger pin

    3. Dlask straight trigger aluminum

I keep the original hammer with strut and DISCONNECTOR, original trigger pin, original TRS, original trigger.

    MY PROBLEMs:

    1. very inconsistent, sometimes not resetting

    2. when shooting, it goes to half cock and not hitting the firing pin

    3. after firing a couple of rounds, the hammer will stop and will not fall to the firing pin, its just stop even though you are pressing the trigger (the trigger is moving and in my observation at the back side in the hammer area, the sear is not moving causing the hammer to stall and not firing)

Friends, I need your opinion, experience and guidance. I don't want to buy parts that are not needed or this should just some adjustments. PLEASE HELP ME.

    See the pictures:

My advice is sell them both and use that money to buy a regular 5inch open gun like a trubor, dvc or even ck arms.

The stinger is 12+ years old and sub optimal as an ipsc/uspsa open gun. It has a short barrel and tiny comp.

the bul not a 100% standard 2011 so some parts comparability will be off. It's also not a model really used in ipsc/uspsa so no one will really know much about it at all.

2 sub-optimal guns is not as good as one that is fit for purpose.

I would sell the two square pegs and buy a round peg for the round hole. :)

fortunately the money from selling both should easily get you into a new sti or ck. With current sti qc issues I'd look hard at the ck or a used sti.

    Thank you Beerbaron.

I bought a Steel Master to shoot steel... and I like shooting it... so I came across a real good deal on another one so I bought it .. I have back-ups for all my competition guns..

Wow..that's nice Cecil. I think most of us in the sports needs a back-up especially if you are running into a big competition. Kudo!

Hello: I would get a TruBor in 9mm for what you want to do with it. A 5" gun shoots so much softer at major loads than a Stinger or Steelmaster. A MatchMaster would be better but still not as good as a TruBor. I am not sure what the exchange rate is right now but you may do better finding an open pistol in the USA. Not sure about importing one either. Thanks, Eric

    Hi Eric,

i just get 1 5 inches race gun for 9mm major for the future. I got the BUL Racing Master 9mm major from Israel. I boight it for Can$2800 with 3 mags. This is almost a copy of STI 2011 race gun from Israel.

i originally just planning to shoot minor 9mm using STI Stinger but this STI steelmaster knocked on my door.

Hello: What kind of matches are you shooting your Stinger in? Steel Challenge type matches your Stinger will do everything the Steelmaster will do. If you are shooting IPSC get a 5" pistol. STI just changes the name of some of their pistols and adds a little bling also. Same dog less hair. Thanks, Eric

IPSC most of the time Aircooled, but this will be my first in using race gun in open division. I dont like to but with my aging eyes, i need it now. I am planning to sell my stinger and get the steelmaster. what do you think?

  9. Friends,

I am now in possession of STI Stinger 9mm, a bit customized nickel plated, custom grip, c-more red dot in custom cape mount.

Now, a friend of mine is selling his STI Steelmaster, almost new, 600 rounds thru it with 1 mag.

i need your professional opinion on what to do. I have to own just one. Is it the stinger 12 yrs old in my hand or the new steelmaster that almost just came out of the store?

    Many thanks in advance.

  10. Friends,

Some of us changed the recoil spring from 11 or 13 lbs to 8 lbs. Any comment on this? Any significant change in recoil handling. By the way the mainspring is still 13 lbs.

    Thanks.

  11. Hi aircooled,

Thank you for the encouragement. We just started the transfer of ownership of the STI Stinger. The pistol is nickel coated, custom stippled grip, cape c-more mount and 2.5lbs trigger according to the owner. Hoping for the best and maybe later I will be getting the STI Trubor or Matchmaster.

  12. Thank you DJC, HiPower and BeerBaron for the response.

I am shooting already the Classic and Production in IPSC. Just recently, I found that I am having a problem using these pistols due to my aging eyes until one day I tried a a sigsauer 22 cal with a red dot and presto, I would like to try the Open Gun for my aging eye sights and increase the fun in the range.

Actually, i just want to shoot 9mm minor only and the major most probably in the future but right now looking for a pistol race gun that can run 9mm minor or factory load reliably.

I realized that race gun definitely an expensive one and don want to have something to be a $$$$ paper weight.
