  1. So with ammo costs getting wild I can across a steal of a deal of .45 ACP at .20 a shot and I bought a fair amount. My 1911 hasn't been shot since I got a stage DQ when I had a sear slip mid reload. I was transitioning for one target to another and doing a reload. RO physically saw my finger out of the trigger guard (I usually ride it high where it is pretty much on the slide) and when I slammed my magazine home the sear slipped and the hammer fell. The gun went off into a berm so it wasn't crazy but very embarassing. Fortunately a friend had the exact same gun (just bone stock) and I was allowed to shoot the rest of the match with his gun (this happened on the first stage of the day!). When I got home I threw the gun in the safe and started shooting Production and slowly ordered replacement parts. So far I have a Stan Chen magwell and EGW Koenig Ultimate Trigger kit and will be having it installed by someone more competent than myself LOL. The point is I was shooting Limited 10 just because at the time with Wilson 10 rounders because that was what I was carrying through the Police Academy. I now want to use the gun in Single Stack Major and I know that has a 8 round capacity and I was wondering what everyone's thoughts are on magazines. I am thinking Wilson 47Ds but I am curious if there is some new hotness that is out that I should be aware about.
  2. It this the armorall you are referring to? https://www.armorall.com/products/wipes/matte-protectant-wipes
  3. I am thinking about going with Taran's so that if I shoot a class that isn't USPSA oriented I have 21 rounds in the magazine. Might as well give the space some purpose. I just hope it doesn't keep the same issue because it is lighter due to it being hollowed out to accommodate the additional capacity.
  4. So as everyone comes to know Glock magazines are extremely light and sometimes don't drop free as quickly as we would like when empty. What is everyone running as production legal base pads? I am thinking about some Taran ones but they look pretty big on the bottom. I don't own a magazine gauge so I am not sure how much space I have to play with from the OEM magazine.
  5. So it might have partially been my grip. I may have always been pushing up on it and the spring just got too week to resist my grip. I say this because my grip has relatively not changed but this only recently started happening. In a nut shell I stole a new standard slide stop from a spare Glock 17 I had lying around and now the issue is gone.
  6. Maybe it is a blue label gun that they have because they are a blue label dealer. I used my 1 certificate already lol. If I buy a complete gun I will run an OEM barrel but if I get the Spinta slide I will just get a KKM barrel.
  7. Sometimes I think how much further I would be if I took USPSA more seriously when I first started shooting matches 5 years ago instead of just the last year or so. I am starting to dry fire on my off days and I have my sights set on getting better. Not going to lie I was a little upsetti spagetti because I did pretty well on that stage but again it doesn't eat me up. Just got to focus on the next state match next month.
  8. I am thinking of sending the slide to MAC Defense to get cut so he can probably fit the slide. If not I have a buddy that is coming out to me that is a gunsmith that would be able to do that.
  9. That is true. I guess $169 isn't that bad of a price to pay to find out. I am putting a KKM barrel in it so I guess that can transfer over to an OEM slide if this turns into a dumpster fire. There is a shop here in Georgia that has some for sale but for some reason the tag says LEO only and it is dirt cheap. Did Glock put 24 out for blue label or something?
  10. It has been a nightmare. I have a friend that has one loose that doesn't shoot that much but doesn't want to let it go. I am just cautious because $169 seems VERY cheap in the grand scheme of things but then again 24 slides aren't very commonly known and I think USPSA is one of the only things keeping .40 S&W alive. I was thinking about getting a DC Precision frame weight but I may go SJC to show a local guy some support (the shop is in GA where I am) I have KKM barrels in other guns and have run them in the past and are my go to barrel choice.
  11. So I thought I would follow up this thread with how I did. I set my "high" goal to win C Class as a D classified shooter for Production. My "low" goal was to beat at least 1 C class shooter as a D class shooter. Among the 6 C class shooters I placed right in the middle beating 3. The match turned into kind of a mess and through another squads arbitration request one stage was thrown out that I did really well on. Apparently the CRO/RO decided to call hit if the shooter hit the steel in the calibration zone but didn't fall and count it as a hit and a bunch of shooters wanted a reshoot under that call. I am sure you have seen the memes if you follow any of the USPSA meme pages. Anyways I got my mental game back on track and getting ready for the next state match next month. Kind of concerned about ammo prices but I still have to push forward. Just wanted to say thank you to helping me getting my focus back on where it needs to be!
  12. So I am looking to finish my Glock 24 Limited Gun built off of a Gen 3 frame. So far I have a Glock full size Gen 3 frame stippled by Salient Arms, a Zev Full Fulcrum Trigger and an older Zev large brass magwell. I would like to find a OEM Glock 24 slide but the Spinta Precision 24 slide and was wondering if anyone has any experience with them. Probably going to slap a KKM barrel in it. Any input would be greatly appreciated!
  13. I will check them out. I had to leave my CZ guru behind back in California when I moved out of the state. I may end up just sending the gun to CGW and have him do it.
  14. See I was actually confused about that. So USPSA Production rule 21.1 state that all factory safety mechanisms must be intact but at the same time wasn't CZ Customs taking SP01and adding Accushadow slides to make the Accushadow? Is it even possible to tell? I also saw that you can swap parts with any other gun on the Production list but I am assuming there is a clause that doesn't allow you to make your own Accushadow?
  15. I usually am a pretty positive person and it usually doesn't get to me but I hyped myself up and the effort I put in feels like it bit me in the ass. Either way I know I will live to shoot another day and I will get better. I am dry firing more and more as 9mm ammo has now exceeded $0.50 a shot which is outrageous
  16. I was just putting a lot of emphasis on Classifiers for a Level II match that is coming up to compare myself against other C class Production shooters. I mean at the end of the day I still can as a D class shooter. I think what got me was the fact that I got my hopes up about finally making C class when in fact the sheer number of classifiers I shot bumped a decent B class run out of the calculation which would have brought me up to C. I have noticed that the classifiers I treat as a normal stage have gone better than ones that I stress too much about. So in reference to my original question I couldn't find anything in the rules about this but I was told that at Level II+ matches if there are not more than 5 shooters in a class of a division there is no class winner for that. I wanted to try to get a Production C win. I am now the only D class Production shooter. There are 4 U shooters but I can not shoot unclassified since I am classified.
  17. I am C class in Limited. I had a B class run on my classification record for Production but I shot a classifier match (6 classifiers) which bumped that run out of the running since it didn't change the overall classification.
  18. Yea it was 6 classifiers and it pushed my B class run out and replaced it with two D's which really hit me. I usually don't let this bother me but it got me this time because I was looking forward to being a C class and completing against other C class Production shooters. Most matches I go to I am usually the only Production shooter so it is annoying because I have no one to compare with. My two friends that I shoot with a lot are Carry Optics so I wouldn't really call it a fair comparison. I am a C class Limited but I am a low C so I am pretty sure I will get rocked on at Level II especially shooting Limited Minor.
  19. So according to USPSA my B class run was given the E status code which says it is no longer in the most recent 8 and since I was already a D class it wasn't technically dropping my classification. Just kind of sucks that I drove 4 hours round trip to the classifier match only for it to hurt me rather than help me.
  20. So I am thinking about running one of my SP01s for Production and was wondering what are the hot ticket modifications to get. This thing is bone stock and I think I want to make it into a SP01 Accushadow so I will obviously need to get that slide. Any tips are appreciated!
  21. First thing I checked and it is properly tucked under the top pin. The spring is freely moving left and right under the pin though which I do not remember if that is normal. Also the spring moves slightly back and forth within the slide stop itself. Not sure if that can cause issues.
  22. So I have been really pushing to get out of D class Production so I made an effort to go to a Classifier Match. I had a few hot runs but a few dumpster fires. With that being said when USPSA reclassified me it bumped this solid B class run out of the most recent 8. I needed that B class run to be able to jump to C class for Production. That being said I am now the only D class shooter at an upcoming Level II match which from my understanding means I do not get anything for winning my class because I am the only one (someone told me there has to be a minimum of 5 shooters in the Class). This was the final update run before said Level II match so I am stuck. Can I shoot as an U to be grouped with 4 other U shooters or what is the best course of action here?
  23. Nope it is the original factory extended slide stop that comes on 34s. Might throw in a standard 17 slide stop and see if that changes anything.
  24. I will have to give that a shot. I may steal a non extended slide stop out of one of my spare Glocks lying around and see if that does anything.
