And quit using timers and just give everyone a participation trophy. With all the divisions and then breaking them by classification you're close to that now. About the only thing you're not doing is having height breaks, 2" increments ok? So, you're SS, C, 5'8" to 5'10", senior. At what point is this just ridiculous? What about magazine/moonclip/speedloader placement on the belt? That should get close scrutiny too?

If a holster rule that says it has to be on the belt and cover the trigger confuses you (I'd think it's simpler, particularly for the RO) I have to wonder how you find your way to the range...

Okay... here's your participation trophy. Now lets let the adults discuss this in a productive manner.

i've always thought that steel challenge rules should be totally identical to uspsa rules (range commands, safety, guns and mods, gear and placement and capacity, etc).  lose the power factor and have to add language for rimfires.  lots of folks play both games so why have any differences creating confusion, and if the rules are the same for everyone, that shouldn't be a problem.  sure i'm missing some issues but consistency vs inconsistency would be nice.

    This ^^^

  3. Aligning Steel rules with USPSA division rules as far as I can see changes nothing in Limited, Open and SS. I am aware of  SCSA holster requirements defining safe and was under the impression that some wanted to remove that section and just use any safe position instead.  So being the holster rules already exist and are the same as USPSA, what are we discussing anyway?

Optic Sight Revolver should be renamed Open Revolver (OPR?) to include ported and comped revos with or without optic sights.

  4. Thomas is right on here. However, if there is no specific limits as to where a holster can be positioned and only stating it must be safe, leaves it open to interpretation of what is safe or not between RO's and competitors.

  5. From the current rule book. "Single Stack: Will be governed by the criteria in the USPSA handgun rule book. i.e. 1911 models only, no race holsters allowed. "

From the USPSA rule book "•Suitable for everyday use. “Race gun” type holster prohibited. •Must carry pistol so that the entire front strap (to the trigger guard) is at or above the top of the belt. Female shooters must carry the pistol no lower than the heel of the butt at the top of the belt •May not be manufactured or cut lower than, and must cover the slide up to, 1/2” below the ejection port (belt slide “Yaqui” type holster exempt). Each magazine must be contained individually within the magazine pouch.  Magazines may not be retained through magnetic means."
Restriction on position of holster and other equipment
    Yes, see Appendix E3

So did I give up a competitive advantage for adhering to this rule or are the competitors who do not follow this rule cheating?

  6. At our matches we limit shooters to two divisions which can not be shot back to back whether it is the same gun or not. The problem we have with a shooter shooting three divisions on smaller squads, say less than ten shooters, is that they are always loading mags, shooting or on deck with no opportunity to help out. Now if and or when we have larger squads we could accommodate shooters that want to shoot three divisions.

"I'm saying let him shoot the three guns but separate attempts by at least one other competitor" I think this sums it up nicely.

  7. Hi first post here. I am the match director for a newly affiliated SCSA club in the Hudson Valley NY. We have been using Practiscore and I am really, really excited that activity reports can be generated with an iPad. When I preview the activity report I get an error message. "20 shooters have non SCSA divisions. Use the shooters menu to edit the divisions for shooters". So I went to EZ steel and copied the divisions exactly as written. I then set up a test match and received the same message for the one test shooter that I entered. So what is the correct division abbreviation or spelling and or what am I doing wrong? Thanks.
