  1. I took your advice and called them today. They are great. They make a kit that is basically a different follower and a 13 coil spring. $7.95 per mag. So that's a bargain since you get the extra springs for the others. Thanks good deal.
  2. I have several Cory 9 round mags for 40/10mm. Can they be made into 10 rounders? How? New Basepad? Spring, follower. Thanks for any help.
  3. I just put an 11# in and it is much better now. Thanks for all the answers
  4. Yes, and with the rear sight that my Ruger had on it, the gun would not fit in the box. So then I tried a different base pad and there in started the issues. Since this I have moved in a different direction. New gun and different magwell.
  5. Struggling with recoil on the Trojan 40 a bit. Seems to recovering beyond parallel. I have a 14 lb in Major power factor running in it now. Curious what you all are doing.
  6. Single Stack 40 s&w Tripp Corey mags are unbeatable.
  7. Always loved the Trojan. Hard Chrome and Blued great guns.
  8. I also have 2 Trojan 40's and they are great.
  9. I struggled with the Ice Magwell. Kept having mags not seat well. I ended up using the Dawson IDPA legal magwell and no more issues. Also Cobra mags.
  10. I was thinking with all the guys I know reloading 40 that this was not as serious as an issue as those gentlemen were making of it. Just checking and I spoke with my reloading gru about the issue and he concurs with what you guys are saying. Thanks.
  11. To clarify I am newer to the 40 cal after switching from 45 in single stack. But anyway I have loaded a few thousand now and keep getting quite a bit of Glocked brass. I hear that a lot of the limited and open guns are also running unsupported chambers or I just keep getting a lot of brass from Glocks. I was having issues with my STI Trojan and the brass not fitting into the barrel all the way or even getting stuck. Looking at it you can see it's got a bulge on it. After some research I found the Redding GRx die that is a pass through die for removing this. It has worked great and I have loaded a few hundred in my load development. I am loading to 1.17 COL and using 4.35 gr of Tite Group with it Chronoing at 927- 956fps. All has worked good so far and I am ready to go into winter production and stock up. Problem is: I have ran into 2 people that are saying I am crazy for shooting this brass. Not to do it. On and On. Now I know there there are a bunch of 40 shooters out there. What is everyone else doing?
  12. I did not read that in the appendix mentioned above. Please advise. Where is this stated?
  13. Thanks for the help guys. Let's not get caught up in the punishment dealt out. I think he was just stating it to make a point and was not really sure of what he was speaking. It is good to have it clarified though. 2 inches from the inside of the belt. That is it I found it. I read trough that and somehow kept missing it. Now I know.
  14. Thanks that was what I was looking for. I was not finding it. So I appreciate it. Oh and yes I have read the rules. Thanks.
  15. I am looking for the rule pertaining to the Gap allowed for a SS holster/Gun in USPSA. I recently just hung a BOSS on my Holster and someone mentioned they have been DQing some for the distance from the body. I looked in the rules and can't seem to find it. All I can find is the height. Thanks for any help provided.
  16. I have the #3 in there now. She has struggled with several mag releases. I think she has weak fingers. (I didn't say that though) with the standard she could not do it at all. She can do the 3 as far as pushing it anyway. There have been several different opinions on this and some people that I really respect even have differing opinions on this. She has long skinny fingers and that may be creating more difficulty for her. At this point I will give her some time using the Forefinger and then if it does not work I will get the Mitchell. This seems to be a very personal preference. So I will leave it up to her.
  17. Thanks for all the advice guys and I will see how it goes next range trip. Still seems to be a toss up. Guess time will tell.
  18. Backstory: The wife is coming full circle and she fell in love with my 40 S&W 1911 and wants to switch up from her PPQ and start shooting my Para 16/40 Pro Custom in the Limited Division. (Yes she has come a long way) Problem is one I have never dealt with and I keep getting differences of opinion so I am no sure which way to go. Problem is the Mag release with her being Left Handed. Lots of folks suggest she just use her fore finger on the left hand to release the mag. She tried this and her finger was struggling with pushing the button. I put a light spring in it for her and took her to the range. Yep the mag kept getting bumped and dropping the mag unintentional. So then I removed the extension on the button which made it better but it still happened just a couple times. Now I am thinking I will put a Mitchell left handed Mag release in the gun for $150. She says no she will get use to it. But with me knowing her she is just going to suffer through it and try to learn and shoot it without bumping the mag release. She is a Titewad and just thinks that way. I am not and want to get it right. So the question is: Since so many shoot left handed with the 1911 and use the mag release with the fore finger should I let her try to learn it? Or should I just buy the Mag release for the other side and then let her figure it out? Anyone with any experience here, All opinions valued.
  19. After a night of thought I changed my thinking. I ordered the Dawson IPCA magwell all aluminum (Not the Ice magwell) which is still pretty big and will easily seat the standard basepads. I did order the Tripp 9 round hybid pushers for reliability and this should be a good package. Thanks for the help.
  20. They don't show any mag but Tripp in 40 cal? Which ones are their mags?
  21. I would appreciate some help with a new gun for Single Stack USPSA . Like I said it is a STI Trojan 40 S&W. Looking at the ICE Magwell but I had one on my Ruger SR1911 45 and the standard mags were very deep inside the Magwell and difficult to seat. It could be done but I would not get it seated when pushing for speed some times. I had to use the standard basepad due to height and fitting in the box. ( Largely due to the rear sight being taller. ) Anyway This STI has their rear sight so it is flatter. I am concerned about the mags and magwell combo having the same issues. Dawson has 4 Tripp mags available in 40 cal 1 is 9 round with flex follower, 1 is 10 round with flex follower both at 34.95 1 is 9 round with hybrid follower and it also is for 40 S&W/10mm 1 is 10 round with hybrid follower and is 40 S&W /10mm both priced at 39.95 I want to run the no gap Ice magwell with Dawsons basepads for them but not sure which mag was the best option and also I want stay inside the box. Reliability is also a concern for me. Can someone educate me on this. I called Dawson and well someone was having a bad day and I was interfering with their day. Thanks for any assistance.
  22. I do a few drills in very slow motion. Just to build proper grip and draw. Then go to full speed. I can do this at the safety table at the match. I have also felt that doing some stretching before starting seems to help.
  23. I made 40 dummy rounds tonight and did them the normal direction. I marked them all black. I have and do not allow any live ammo in the dryfire room. Also the seperate mags will keep any accidents from happening. We will see starting with my routine in the am.
