  1. Are these poppers at a Nationals level match reset by fellow competitors, the CRO and RO, or some disinterested third party like Boy Scouts trying to get their Rifle and Shotgun merit badge? How are these poppers secured to the ground? with just stakes? or with large lag screws/landscape timber screws?
  2. My point above that I was trying to make was that if some “instrument” is being used for measurement or calibration, then like that micrometer sticker saying it checks good or is within specs, the RM’s gun/ammo chrono results also need to be posted/published. But my previous comment still stands about the conditions changing between the time the RM calibrates the popper and the time some shooter shoots it 3 hours later.
  3. Since the screen shot of J.J.’s chrono results were posted, I have to ask, are the chrono results of the RM’s gun/ammo used to calibrate the poppers posted anywhere? Also, if my memory is correct, EGW used to be the one and only manufacturer of the official box that Production division guns had to fit in. Hang with me here for a second as I try to bring this analogy full circle.... It used to be that the rulebook’s appendix had the dimensions for full size 42” pepper poppers with a + or - tolerance. ASSuming that AR500 plate from different manufacturers has different weight/density, has there ever been just one manufacturer of pepper popper declared as THEEEE official pepper popper manufacturer for nationals? Has a + or - tolerance for the weight of the full size pepper popper plate ever been published? I mean... if USPSA rules dictate that pepper poppers are going to be used as a tool or instrument to “recognize” power factor, shouldn’t such an instrument be more standardized?
  4. I was shooting .40 in production downloaded to a 135ish plus power factor at that time. These were 180 grain Berry’s plated bullets. I might have actually taken a screen shot from the hatcam video showing at least 5 good hits in the circular calibration zone. There is a slim possibility that I might still have that screen shot saved to my photobucket. This was on a field course type stage where there were two lines of full sized poppers lined up one behind the other. One line was to the far right of the bay. The other line was to the far left of the bay. So you couldn’t shoot and hit the next popper until the one in front of it falls. IMO, that’s horrible stage design and is begging to have bullets bounce over the back berm. My ammo, all of it that was shot over the chrono, actually passed the chrono.
  5. Or whatever conditions that existed when the competitor shot it with X PF ammo were not the same conditions the RM shot it with ~ 120 PF ammo .
  6. I got popper f_ _ _ ed at the 2008 Missouri Fall Classic. This was back in the day when I was running a Samsung sports camera on the bill of my cap. And I was uploading the videos to video.google prior to google buying YouTube. I am sure there was a thread about it here way back when. And how many other competitors since the fall of 2008 have been P.F.’ed since then with absolutely NO change to the rules or calibration procedure?
  7. Blue and white colors used to be kinda like the unofficial “trademark” of Max Davidson’s targets at gunsteel.com . I would have to say Max has been out of the steel target manufacturing business since about 2011, though.
  8. Thank you sir! I am ASSuming that is some sort of red dot??? And is that in 9mm?
  9. Thank you sir! Again, this is ancient history, but I first started in USPSA in Production with a .40 dialed down to minor PF. It was more of a soft push instead of being muzzle flippy with 9mm.
  10. That’s awesome! somewhere else on the internet, in another thread, somebody posted pics of when they used to do Man vs. Man shoot offs back at Piru. I am assuming the World Shoot doesn't do that any more???? How did they used to have those Piru Man vs. Man shoot offs set up? Plate racks? Poppers?
  11. And in looking at the combined overall results, it appears KC was the first drawn from a holster shooter ....coming in at 114th place.... not that I am griping. just making an observation.
  12. I just looked at the combined overall results. jeeez! 637 shooters run through over the course of 5 days! That seems like a well oiled machine.
  13. Thank you sir! Yeah, this is ancient history now, but for USPSA, I used to shoot Limited minor with a Beretta 92. The 20 round MecGar mags made it lots of fun.
  14. Thank you! But really there is nothing stopping you from say shooting a 9mm single stack 1911 drawn from a barely there CR Speed type limited/open holster for the Steel Challenge Limited Division? I mean if that’s all you have at the time.... or if you a .40 call double stacked 2011, shooting .40 seems kinda overkill for SC.
  15. And they are showing what the world record holders are. So I gotta ask..... is “SS” single stack 1911’s then? What’s the difference between that and shooting Limited? Holster design/placement?
  16. My guess.... it’s cheaper. No brass to pick up either. If you are a parent, and you have a child or three who want to shoot SC, buying a brick of .22LR is also way more convenient than having to crank the Dillon’s handle for an hour or two.
  17. Yep! I took the USPSA RO class back in the fall of 2007. Our instructor for that was also an Area Director. He was hinting that USPSA HQ had bought another shooting organization. At that time, the only thing that popped into my head was “USPSA bought IDPA???” I guess it was some time in 2008 that it was made public that it was the Steel Challenge that had been bought. My first thought was “Ahhh, crap! The first thing that will happen is classifications and activity fees.” Just me personally, I am anti-classification or anti-handicapping. Just shoot, post the final match results in both overall/combined and then by division. That’s it. Fastest to slowest, that’s all you need.
  18. I know.... beggars can’t be choosers, buttttt.... back when the big shoot was in Piru, CA , didn’t they have these big board timer displays that showed the final time for a string? Those would be nice to show on camera.
  19. Yeah, I noticed that too. I did get to see an iron sighted revolver guy have to do a reload during a Smoke and Hope string. Ouch! That’s gotta hurt! Anywhoooo.... it just got to the point where if I saw some shooter walking up to the line and setting a “long gun” bag on the table, I went surfing elsewhere on the internet for a minute or two.
  20. Nobody started a thread on the livestream yet? https://uspsa.live/?fbclid=IwAR0rTI71-I5_OZDeo9Y7CmpBhrAygeWerEreY0DnQhKD-vWnsSpZrjV6q2g
  21. Technically it is 9.3X39. My interest in it started when I saw this Larry Vickers video : I was hoping it would catch on more, but with covid and the ammo scarcity I am thinking it won’t be taking off any time soon.
