  1. So I got back my slide today, waited until the Black Friday sale. Turnaround was supposed to be 4 weeks. Mine was in the mail after 8 days! To say that I am happy would be an understatement. I wanted to set this girl up for CO, and they did an AMAZING job. A buddy of mine is a smith and he installed the CGW upgrade kit with reach reduction a while back. I also added the "old style" trigger. On my Wheeler digital gauge a ten round average in double action is a little over 2.5 lbs, and single action is just a hair under 1 lb. It shoots amazingly well, with no reliability issues. I honestly think the gauge might have an issue. It feels very light on double action, but 2-2.5 lbs is just bonkers. I would be curious what other folks with the CGW kit upgrade are getting. I added the Holosun because with my sight the ring makes a huge difference for some reason. Not sure why but it helps with the astigmatism I have in both eyes. A single dot is just a flared mess to me. However, it is amazing how deep they can cut the slide for the optic. The closer it can be to the bore axis, the better, and this thing is super deep. Basepads are the Henning +5/+6 with the Grams springs and followers. I had them do their Harbinger cut and cerakote the slide in Concrete, which is a very close match to the grey that Lok uses on their G10 grips. I am kind of wishing that I sent in the basepads to be cerakoted as well. I absolutely hate the white writing on the Holosun, and thought about having them cerakote it straight black, but that didn't seem like a good way to spend $100 these days. Of course, by that logic it wouldn't make sense to cerakote the basepads either. I don't think I would have had the slide done in anything but black if it wasn't included in the cost. Of course, all the cerakote is just vanity, doesn't mean a damn thing if you can't shoot straight! I did have them add the sight blank just so there would not be a big notch on the top of the slide. Another thing that doesn't make a damn bit of difference, but hey, that one was only $20. Photos are too big to add directly, so here is a link to an Imgur album: Shadow 2 Photos Let me know what you think!
  2. What is crazy is that the normal 9mm configuration is in stock right now. I cannot imagine that will last long....
  3. Seeing how much XL750s are going these days, I though I would share my experience purchasing a 750 for 9mm last month.... EDIT (I just went to the site, and they have 9mm in stock at the moment!!!) Bad for me, but good for other folks. Aftermarket prices are bonkers right now. The way that I did this is more expensive than if you were able to purchase a 9mm 750 off the shelf, but it is still significantly less expensive than what I have seen out there. Yes, I could have backordered, but patience is not a virtue of mine. This is pretty simple. Call Dillon and see what caliber versions they have in stock right now. They will be wonky calibers that almost never sell. I was told they had one in 41 Magnum. Caliber conversion kits are out of stock everywhere, right? Well, not if you buy the individual parts. You can find the parts here: http://dillonprecision.com/docs/caliberconversioncharts/450_and_550_Series_Caliber_Conversion_Charts.pdf I was also told that they did have a few 9mm conversion kits in stock when I called. Are there any now? No idea, but it cannot hurt to ask. Unfortunately, I had already purchased all the parts by the time I found this out. Learn from my mistake. It would have taken forever to return what I had and receive the actual conversion kit, so I just ate the cost because I was out of 9mm rounds at the time. So, is this more expensive? Yes, but not as expensive as what I have seen out there. I have a 9mm powder funnel already, so I did not need to purchase one, that saved me about $20. All in all, before tax and shipping, I paid $762.93, as opposed to $649.99. Considering that I have seen 750s going for well over $1000 (and used, no less!) I considered this a good deal. Anyway, just wanted to share my experience, and I hope that this helps some of you out who thought that the aftermarket prices placed a new 750 too far out of reach financially. So, good luck and get to reloading! Just for giggles, this is what my receipt looked like (with a reminder that I did not need to purchase a powder funnel.) This will give you the stock #s you need for easy reference. Just plug that number into their search engine on the site. The appropriate powder funnel is #F Powder Funnel - #13806. Bear in mind that depending on what caliber is available, you may need to swap out the large primer setup for the small. It is VERY easy to do. 4. Anyone have any experience with these? Looking for something one handed to use at matches instead of an Uplula. I do have one of the ETS pistol magazine loaders, and it is just finicky as hell. The Uplula works great if you have a table top to work off of, which isn't always the case. I know that you could hold it against your body, but that isn't nearly as effective as having a flat, horizontal surface. Yes, I could just use my thumb, but I would prefer not to. A couple of old injuries to my hands makes that a major pain in the posterior.
  5. I would love to but I can't see where to do it.....
  6. I figured out the issue. I had previously been using cases that had already been sized on a single stage before I bought the 750. Sizer die was not seated far down enough, so when I was using cases that had not been sized the base of the case was not getting into the die, hence the bulging. Just didn't notice it until I had gone through the other cases.
  7. I am actually having a hard time finding this info, I am sure it is buried somewhere in this sub but I cannot find it... What are the fundamental differences between the Elite and Extreme series? From what I can gather the Extreme has some trigger upgrades done at the factory? I am looking at a Witness Elite Stock 3. Also not sure as to the differences between the 2 and 3 series. If there is already a thread out there with this info, please let me know and I will bow out with my apologies.....
  8. I did check that as well, everything is rock solid. Only loaded 500 rounds so far after finalizing setup. Thanks for the input!!
  9. So this one has me shaking my head. I have a new 750 that I have been using for about a week and a half. No major issues. Last time I ran it was four days ago. Tonight I ran a little over 100 rounds. Case gauged them in my Shockbottle and all but 3 were bulging, some to extreme degrees. So I started troubleshooting. Checked all the dies for debris. Took powder, then primers out of the equation. Have not tried another seating die yet, I think I have a seat/crimp combo die somewhere that I can try. Current die setup is the Redding competition set with the micrometer seating die. No bulletfeeder. I am at a loss on this one. I have been loading for years, previously on a 650 and 1050 as far as progressives go, and I have never seen anything like this. Any ideas on where to start would be greatly appreciated. I searched the forum but nothing popped up, at least on the search strings that I tried.
  10. You know what everyone? I got the information I wanted out of this thread a long while ago. I made it pretty clear this was a matter of convenience, not trying to complain about a rule. I think we can let the matter rest before it devolves into whatever animosity this is heading towards. Believe me, at this point I would delete the thread if I could.
  11. Wow, I am really happy that I brought all this up to begin with.
  12. I ended up picking up the short powder bar since I am planning on adding a bullet feeder eventually. No issues with it at all. Turns out that the normal powder bar did not interfere with the micrometer die at all, it is short enough that it would fit under it.
  13. This just started happening tonight....on the upstroke (to seat the primer) the shell plate is not indexing fast enough to get out of the way, the primer is partially under the shell plate. When no primer is present there is no issue, it is the extra height from the primer that is catching the shell plate. If you back off and lower the primer temporarily the shellplate will scoot forward that additional 1/4 inch or so. See attached photo. I have disassembled the shell plate and even the primer system, no change. Not entirely sure what might be causing this, thought I would post it here before I reached out to Dillon on Monday. Perhaps there is a contact point that needs some lubrication??
  14. So, on the 750 Dillon upgraded the shellplate bearing system similar to the aftermarket kits available for the 650. Uniquetek makes what they call the "Ultimate Bearing Kit" for the 750. Has anyone used it, and is something like that even worth it after the changes that Dillon made from the 650 to the 750?
  15. So, I have a 750 on its way arriving next week. I am planning on using my Redding micrometer seating die in station 4. I know that you need the DAA short powder bar to use a bullet feeder due to the powder bar on the 750 hanging over that station. Can I expect the same issue with the Redding die? It is taller, but I am not sure if it is tall enough to interfere with the powder bar.....I am fine purchasing the short powder bar, but obviously don't want to spend the money if it isn't needed. At the moment I am leaning toward just buying it and returning it if needed.
  16. I used my Caldwell G2 indoors for the first time today and got results waaaaay off what I was expecing. I was testing some 125gr FP with 4 grains of Titegroup out of a Shadow 2, so a 4.89" barrel. Load data that I had seen from Hodgdon had 4.1 grains out of a 4 in barrel at 1057. I was getting 650! Chrono lights turned on, etc. I had to sit fairly close to the chrono but made that change in the app. Anyone else experienced anything like this? I did not have any factory ammo to test against, and unfortunately did not have any rounds that I had chrono'd before to compare previous results. I was using the built in lights on the G2, but is it possible that it was a low light issue even with using them? I have only ever used this unit outdoors, so just not sure....
  17. Yeah, I have been looking for 320 but it seems to be out of stock everywhere at this point...
  18. So I have been married to Titegroup for quite some time because I had a ton of it. However, stock is running low, so I am looking for some possible alternatives (at least what can be acquired at the moment.) Currently, I am running Xtreme 124gr FPs out of a Shadow 2. Reasonably happy with it at 4.0 grains. Is anyone else running something that they really like with 124s? Primers are all over the place at the moment, just been picking up what I can, so I have a mix of CCI, WInchester, and Federal at the moment. Just seeing what other options are out there that I might like...
  19. Anyone use the Springer Precision Quick Connect with either the SP hanger or a BOSS? If so, what size of the male block are you using to keep it legal for Production/CO? It looks like the female and small male with the Bladetech holster adapter would work. I emailed SP but have not gotten a response. What has always confused me is where the 2 1/8" measurement happens. Is it at the slide? I can't imagine it is at the grip, just because the curvature of the belt would make almost anything illegal...
  20. Will the RHT fit the OEM extended safety on the S2? I just ordered a holster from them and was about to switch out the safety. Didn't even think about it being a possible issue. The OEM is certainly not as big as the Nitrofin.
  21. What is it that you like about the FP-10 over something else like Weapon Shield?
  22. So, this is bound to bring out some strong opinions... I recently purchased a Shadow 2, which has dramatically tight tolerances than the "plastic fantastic" pistols I have been shooting for the past couple of years. Back when I was a hardcore 1911/2011 guy, I used the red Slide Glide for lubrication (I still have plenty of it.) However, I am sure other products have become available in the past few years, and I am wondering what other lubrication options you guys were using these days?
  23. That is great info, thank you! What makes the Hennings that much better? Were you having over-insertion issues with the Shockbottles? I was wondering about that, in the photos I have seen there is a decent amount of space between the bottom of the frame and the base pad...
  24. Yeah, definitely not worth it for me. To easy to have a brain fart.
  25. So, I am looking at production basepads for a Shadow 2. I think I have it narrowed down to the Henning and the Shockbottle pads. I think I like the idea of the Henning pads not having the lip on the front, but I also like how easy it is to remove the Shockbottle pads (I am a firm believer in keeping magazines clean.) Of course, it is possible that the Henning pads are just as easy to get off, so I was wondering if anyone had any real world experiences they would like to share. Or any other suggestions, for that matter. Now I know at least one person is going to say "just use the stock base plates." I will save that person some typing. I don't wanna use 'em. So there.
