  1. I got my new Dawson Extreme Extra Long Firing Pin... I tried to install it but if I use the same spring it wont go down enough to insert the firing pin stop in place. If I take the firing pin and place it in the slot without the spring it will clear the firing pin stop. Do I need a special spring? Do I need to cut the spring down? Thanks, S. Rodriguez.
  2. Thank you guys for all the info... After looking at the firing pin in my pistol, it does not fill the breach face firing pin hole. It only sticks out a little and it is just a point leaving the area around it open. I will order today a Dawson Hyper Drive Firing Pin (Extended Length). Only $14.95..... Thanks again. I will post the results once I get it and go out to the range.... S. Rodriguez
  3. The one on the left is Federal 200 and the one on the right is Winchester small rifle primer.
  4. I went out to the range today with some diffrent loads and chronographed them to try to find a good major 38 super comp load. My gun is a SV Masterpiece with no pop holes. just the 3 port comp with 2 small port holes on the side of the comp. It also has a removable breach face. I went out to the range today and shot a couple of loads they all felt good but the primers looked melted. The loads are: IMR 7625, 7.1 grains, 124gr Montana Gold JHP, 1.250 OAL, .382 crimp. 5 rounds chronographed 1322 to 1333 fps. Power factor of 163 to 165. IMR 7625, 7.1 grains, 125 HAP, 1.250 OAL, .382 crimp. 5 rounds 1308 to 1360 fps. Power factor of 162 to 168 VV 3N37, 8.0 grains, 124 MG JHP, 1.250 OAL, .382 crimp. 5 rounds 1312 to 1353 fps. Power factor of 162 to 167 Please look at the data and the photo of the casings/primers. Any advise would be great. The only thing I have not done is checked my firing pin. Thanks, S. Rodriguez
  5. Bird, Welcome and don't worry I will be buggin you for advise soon......... I am still new also but everyone here has been a great help. S. Rodriguez
  6. Julie, Thanks!!!!! That was awsome..... Jake Di Vita sure can shoot fassst... First time I have seen him shoot. Thanks again, S. Rodriguez.

  8. 300lbGorilla, Thank you.... I now feel comfortable ordering the .330x.075x.065 (Novak cut). I am going to order it now and I should recieve this week... I will post my experience... Thanks, S. Rodriguez
  9. I measured the dovetail cut as best as I coud. I came up with 330 width (front to back), .75 depth, ? for angle degrees. The center of the dovetail to the front of the slide is .400. I guess I will need to try one with a 65 degree angle and a 60 degree angle. Thanks to both of you for your input... I will try both and hope one works. Thanks, S. Rodriguez.
  10. I need help measuring my front sight dovetail... I have the front sight off of the slide and do not know the dove tail. What measurment mean what. (330x60x60) The slide I have was an STI Slide that was purchased with no cuts. The person that put the slide together is not available. When I measure it is 330 wide. Any help will be greatly apprieciated. Thanks, S. Rodriguez
  11. I went outside and checked the bullets on the Dillon Eliminator scale and got multiple readings for 124gr. 124.0 to 125.6 Could this be the problem also... If anyone else has experienced this what bullet is recomended? thanks, S. Rodriguez
  12. I reloaded 8.0 gr of 3N37 / 1.260 length / 124gr WestCoast Bullet. It felt ok but very dirty and lots of sparks out of the ports. Any suggestions? Primers (WSR) are showing melting / hot spots where the pin hit. If I add more powder will it make it worse? Is there a big diffrence from 3N37 to 3n38? Thanks for any help in advance.
  13. al503, Thanks for the info... I think I will start at 8.0gr and move up using BritinUSA advise to always work up the loads carefully and use a chrono to test. Gives me more reason to go out and shoot. Please if anyone has a similar gun please let me know what you are using. Thanks, S. Rodriguez
  14. BritinUSA, Thank you very much!!!!!!! I was looking on J. Mass website and noticed EriK Warren posted a load for 38 super. 3N37 (8.3gr), 124gr MG JHP, OAL 1.265, 1380 fps, 171.0pf, no hybrid, 5 port comp. Being new to the game, my question how much diffrence is there between 38 super and super comp? S. Rodriguez
  15. Hello, I have a new open gun and have never loaded 38 super comp. I presently have 3N37 powder, 124gr West Coast Bullets, Starline brass and Winchester small rifle primers. The pistol I am loading for is a SV IMM 3 top port comp with two small side ports. All the load data I have seen is for hybrid IMM guns. Please help! I need the load amount and OAL. Thanks, S. Rodriguez
  16. That is the SV mount and it is reinforced. I have seen them with OKI and Holo Sights. The question I have is does anyone have a good starting load for this gun. It is in 38 super comp.. Most guns I see have the hybrid or pop up holes. Most of the loads I have seen have hybrid or pop up holes. I will be shooting steel and USPSA Open. Thanks ahead of time for any info. S. Rodriguez
  17. Here are some other photos... I hope this works now!
  18. TMC, I am going to take more photos and I will try to post them of the rest of the gun.
  19. Well it looks like I messed this one up.. Sorry! Here's another try.
