  1. ok so im not trying to be a PITA but, how will the mag know the difference between a 38 super and a 9mm seated at 38super COL? You dont run a spacer with a 38 super... Just trying to understand what the difference is.
  2. And that changes how the mag functions because....?
  3. Thanks for the replys, could someone explain the difference between the STI/SVI mags? I thought they were the same.
  4. So I recently had a well know pistol smith (in this area) suggest that I load my 9mm out to 38 super COL. He believed this would result in better reliability. (STI edge) but also said this would allow for the removal of the spacer in the mags. So my questions are. 1. What do you guys think, have any of you tried it? 2. Is there enough throat for this, I believe 9mm head spaces off the case mouth, so that shouldn't be a problem but will I be jamming it in the lands(rifle terms not sure if it applies here). I'm using xtreme 135 hp's and 3.4 titegroup.
  5. I used to use Fiocchi shooting dynamics 1200 fps 1 1/8 oz 7.5's but I have decided I like the "non ribbed" shells like AA's or STS's.....
  6. What Mark is describing may be perfect. I would've afraid to give my wife a PG stock. If she somehow let it get away from her that PG can slap the crap out of your wrist...
  7. So I finally got my wife to agree to shoot 3 gun with me. I went big because although she doesn't know a ton about firearms, she knows if I'm shooting an STI and she's shooting a glock (not a shot at glock). I got her a colt CRP18 pro with a vortex razor 1-6, an STI edge in 9mm and the new versamax comp. I sent the shotgun to CRums and had the factory shortcomings worked on, but my wife has two complaints. 1. It's heavy. I'm afraid there is not much that can be done about this, but the LOP may be a little long which is moving the weight forward. How much can be removed from the stock? Are the any other alternatives? 2. The forend is to "fat". As you know the muzzle end of the versa tapers but her arms are not long enough to reach so she grips the fatter part by the receiver. Is the any aftermarket forends available.? Anyone who works on contouring the forend? ( I haven't called CRums, probably a good place to start)Getting the stock shortened may solve this issue as well. But maybe a benelli will fit. Ideas?
  8. I guess between the rebates and selling hulls it still wouldn't make sense to reload...and you are right as fast as I am I can't afford any bulges...lol
  9. I was always afraid that if I made a less than perfect shot and was not center of the pattern the 9's would not have enough mass to knock steel down.
  10. That's dirt cheap, less than cost in most cases.
  11. Not sure who you are asking, but yes my Tac does have a carbon arms tube. The Comp Tac is factory but it similar to the carbon arms tube(could be made by Mark for all I know).
  12. his numbers work if he works in the industry or has a contact who will willing to let him buy AA's at cost. Winchester does limit the rebate to 50 boxes per houseold, so if you buy more than that you have to have the check sent to friends houses.
  13. Yes Sir, you are close on your numbers, but I happen to work in the Gun industry, so I get my components at cost. I can also get reclaimed lead here at the range for $15.00 per 25 pound bag. But I can also buy factory ammo cheaper so I still need to really look at the numbers.
  14. I use the GECO coated slugs. Never a jam in my VersaMax Comp or Tac
  15. I have access to a lot of STS Hulls, I'm thinking about cooking up my own....
  16. Lol I used Siri to post for me because I was driving....looks like a 2nd grader wrote the first post... My wife has shown some interest in shooting with me, I think the 1oz load will be a little easier on the shoulder.
  17. I'm sure this is been covered before, but I was curious what type of shale you use. Not so much the brand but what the configuration he is. I usually use 1 1/8 ,7 1/2 shot. But then I got to think that maybe this is overkill, that a 1 ounce load would work just fine. I know some of you guys have More time and I'm sure you've done testing.
  18. That was quick...thanks!
  19. So I have one of the race holsters, but I have lost several of the set screws and small parts. Does anyone know if they (DA) has a U.S. office or supplier for these parts?
  20. I have never purchased from power valley, but I would have to assume they add shipping/hasmat fees to that. so then what is the final price? A lot also has to do with how long they have had that Varget, did they get it straight from Hodgdan or did they get it from a distributor. I think that prices may fall some but the guys sitting around waiting on " the good old days" are going to be disappointed.
  21. I got bad news for you if you think powder is coming down much further. Unless the manufactures lower their prices its not gonna happen.( Yes I have access to invoices from Hodgdon and ATK) So when you go through that 4 year supply where do you think powder prices will be? midway is 29.49 on varget then shipping and hasmat. If you find powder you better buy it.
  22. they are right at 32 per pound. Not sure where everyone else is. last time I was in cabelas or bass pro they were 31.99....
  23. If you live in Fort Worth or dallas, alpine shooting range has a good supply of powders in stock.
