4 days WTF. A used one? It feels like 4 years and I still have about 4 months. For the amount of money I spent and the time I just hope it's worth it. Everybody I speak to says it is so I'll see. ?

    Brand new "Savant"!

  2. The hammer has probably moved too far in the rearward position.  Move the hammer forward some to see if you can get the thumb safety to engage.  I like to get the thumb safeties out prior to removing the search spring to keep the hammer in the full cocker position.

Is this the first time you have disassembled this pistol?  The thumb safety fit on SVIs are really tight.  I mean really tight!

Looking at both grips, I think they are investment cast.  I don't think they are machined from a billet of stainless.  Both grips are very nice and well machined, but they look like they start out as a rough casting.  The Evo fits my hand better.  I don't personally own them, my friend owns both. I have spent a fair amount of time drooling over them.

    Wrong, SVI website

Really?  A close-tolerance grip precision machined from a single billet of stainless steel, in one piece instead of two.  How's that inferior?  Isn't it more a matter of personal choice?

I didn't say it was inferior.  It would just be stupid to put a EVO grip on a SVI!  Like putting a Ford Motor in a Ferrari.

pivot point, to far back is bad though, reverse axis.

Ever seen Tilley's mount?  It is at the back of the slide!  Larger field of view in the glass and less dot movement.

Keep reading!  And please note that the bluish tint on the old RTS2 was only on the first run and was removed a long time ago.  And the v4 has been quite reliable.  (Ask Chis Tilley, who won CO with a v3 last year.)

I think DP and RTS2 are both good scopes, just have some different features.

    "Who won CO?"

I had the same thing happen a couple of months ago.  When I asked those wiser than me about it, was told to avoid dropping the hammer on a chambered round with an empty primer pocket.  I now either don't chamber a round in dry fire (which is a bit of a pain but still easier than replacing the pin), or top the mag off with a snap cap (with silicone in the primer hole).  So far both options have been acceptable.

    This^^^^^^

Hello: Did you read what I posted above? Thanks, Eric

I did, that's why I asked the question?  Don't see anyway possible to get 26-27 rounds in a 140mm mag.  Most 140mm mags will be 23-24 rounds with Dawson SNL and grams guts.

I thought you had a magic trick you could share with us.

    Thanks, Scott

Hello: I like the Dawson base pads the best for 2011 type pistols. If you want to get 26-27 rounds in your 140mm mags and still make the gauge use the Dawson Para base pads with the TTI spring and followers. On your 170mm I would use the Dawson "SNL" but make sure it fits the gauge. I can't help you on the MBX mags since not many guys here are using them but I would try the Dawson base pads on those also. Thanks, Eric

How are you getting 26-27 rounds in a 140mm mag?  140mm mags should not have any problems fitting the gauge no matter what basepad you use because it only needs to fit in the 170mm side.
