  1. Where is the overlay?

Philosophically, whoever that was missed and hit the no shoot. Arguing their luck about the breadth of a hair is all well and good, but they still missed what they were trying to hit.

On a call that could go either way depending upon how the overlay is held, the shooter should be fine with however the call goes. If they don't like it, they can always shoot better so there is no mistake.

  2. More dot drill, still no dice but I am becoming more consistent.

I am using so much weak hand that I am pulling the skin off the strong hand.

The crappy indoor range I've been going to is rapidly losing it's usefulness. I need to practice run and gun and multiple target drills.

Dry fire reloads are on FIRE.

  3. Mine has the stock hammer, whatever Firing Pin spring that came with the Wolf recoil spring from the Ben Stoeger Pro Shop with a coil or 2 cut off, 14# hammer spring, 10lb recoil spring, Henning XL Firing Pin, and a click pen plunger spring.

It pops CCI 100%, but I switched to Federal on principle.

  4. I did some dry fire on my lunch break. Lucky I did... BREAKTHROUGH!!!

I accidentally modified my grip on the magazine when I did a reload and I hit it really smooth. So, I tried a few more like that and started hitting them every time.

  5. I was getting some bulged cases on my reloads so I got he Hundo 9mm case gauge from Ben Stoeger Pro Shop and started case gauging all my ammo. Interesting results.

There are two types of brass that bulges on a regular basis.

Aguila with a groove in it, 100% bulge rate. The Aguila without the groove is fine.

CBC (which I hear is Magtech) has given me probably 100 bulged cases out of a thousand mixed brass rounds.

I am using a B&B 147 gr RN grooveless and it has to seat rather deep to pass the plunk test. I just ordered the SWC with a groove because it doesn't seem to seat as deep.

  6. Vacation over. Dot drill again, still so very close but no cigar. I think I understand, now. It isn't that you can shoot it clean so much as shooting it over and over and over working out whatever problems you have.

I am messing up my hands with all the dryfire. I am really only concerned with the tip of the trigger finger, but if I am going to take steps, why not fix it all. I got some girly hand cream and I think it helps.

I found that I usually only bobble the mag change in one of two ways. First and most often, I will begin to move the pistol back into firing position before I get the mag inserted, This causes a hangup. Second, I hold the pistol in a position that is outside the norm. I try to bring the new mag up in a natural movement and move the gun to meet it If I don't get the gun to a correct enough position then I miss the mag well.

There is a classifier match coming up, 6 stages all classifiers. I definitely want to get out of D class. I think it is going to be a mental thing, I can shoot accurately enough, draw and reload smooth enough, I just have to not screw up. I know that I have to not try and go "fast", I have to go full Spock and perform without emotion, can I do that is the only question.

The weekend after that is a GSSF match, I'd like to win a division, but I mostly shoot a Tanfo, the Glock is more difficult to control. I am not sure I have the chops to beat everyone.

  7. So there is not an explicit rule for the club, but there is tacit approval throughout the membership.

    What club is this?

WTH??? Where do you get that there is tacit approval throughout the membership? Did you skip reading comprehension at your school?

I didn't go to the same school as you, obviously. I jumped to that conclusion by reading this...

    Nimitz, on 25 Feb 2015 - 6:40 PM, said:

at our club its $10 for members and $15 for non members; for Steel Challenge its the same for a 2nd gun ...

for USPSA & Steel Challenge each squad is responsible to break down the stage they finish on. Setup unfortunately is done by a select few but their match fees are waived ... if it's discovered you don't help break down your score sheet typically don't seem to find its way into the final scoring for some reason .... usually people only don't help once or they don't come back ... I'm good with either ...

This implies there are some who will "lose" your sheet and others who are good with it. Is that not tacit approval?

  8. I'm no super expert, but I believe that if the brass doesn't seal the chamber the symptom is blackening of the outside casing.

Powder fouling is usually dry turning to caked on as it gets increasing foul. Gummy would indicate the presence of some liquid.

However, I'm not a super expert and haven't seen every situation.

  9. The trigger will be alright, but it can be made great with very little work that you can do yourself.

http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=191773 (I guess you know that a CZ and a Tanfo are kissing cousins) I skipped the dremel and just used 1000 grit from AutoZone, only took an hour to polish the vitals.

You are going to need a good set of punches (thin ones).

Buying new guns is the finest use for paychecks humans have devised, (riding roller coasters is a close 2nd)
